Why Joseph Cusano Jr. chose Beaufort

The Beaufort area is a charming town with friendly people and a relaxed beautiful atmosphere. The cottage is very quiet, quaint and cozy with a waterfront deck and a 180 degree view of water. Evening sunsets can be enjoyed with a very short walk to a waterfront deck across the street.Fish and crab directly from the back deck or at the water access across the street as well.Located right beside a public boat landing with ample parking, bring your boat! Kayak stand on property.

What makes this cottage unique

Very quiet area surrounded by water views. The sun comes up behind the cottage overlooking the water and you can enjoy the sun from sunrise to about 4:00-5;00 pm. on the back deck. Also a front shady porch for napping. 2 beautiful parks on Pigeon Point Road. Great biking and walking in a safe beautiful area.

We enjoyed four fun-filled weeks at the cottage. It was just perfect for a couple and a dog. The location is "as good as it gets", in our opinion. We brought along our Boston Whaler and we were able to store it conveniently on the property and pop it in at the public landing, which is just steps away, At the same time, the cottage cannot be viewed from the public landing (or the street, really) because of its setback, as well as all the vegetation, live oaks, Spanish moss and flowering shrubs. Our dog loved the 3 parks on Pigeon Point, and one is just across the street. The highlight for us was the waterside deck and all that life on a tidal river has to offer.

View from deck was lovely. Cottage was just ok. Had several issues regarding payment with owner through VRBO. Very convenient to downtown Beaufort. We left it cleaner than we found it.

COCKROACHES Galore. Don't stay here.

  • 1 of 5

We arrived on a Sunday evening. We found the property NOT the way it was described. As we got ready for bed we saw a cockroach climbing up the bedroom wall. Then we found a couple more crawling around that night. It was late so we called the owner in the morning and he did have a company come and spray while we were at the beach. However, when we returned that evening and for the next two days we found dead cockroaches EVERYWHERE! It was disgusting. We didn't feel comfortable cooking there so what was the point of staying. We left and called and told the owner why. We spent the rest of our vacation in a hotel. We have tried contacting the owner to see if we could get the 4 days rent we paid and DIDN'T stay there returned for the inconvenience and added expense of having to leave and stay in a hotel. NO RETURN CONTACT at all. We took lots of pictures of the dead bugs and of the property which we found dirty and not well maintained (couch, rugs, floor in front of stove). And although it was on the waterway the house is on marsh. The dock shown in pictures is the next door neighbors and not for use. We have used VRBO many times and have never had a problem, until now...

Owner's Response: I was very surprised to hear this. I have rented the cottage for four years and never had a complaint about cockroaches. The very next morning i had the property sprayed again. Also sorry about the picture that gave you the impression the was a dock. That was a 180 degree view of the water and i never promised you a dock. The dock you see is the neighbors and no where near our property. JOE CUSANO JR.

Quiet, private and the perfect deck

  • 4 of 5

We loved our week in the cottage and hope to go again. It's a beautiful area, quiet and private, which is just what we wanted. This is not a fancy place and could use some updates, but it's clean and has the perfect deck. We loved the marsh, the waterway, and watching the birds and boats. Beaufort has some wonderful restaurants and we enjoyed several trips to Hunting Island State Park to walk on the beach
