Property type villa
Minimum Stay 1 - 7 nights

About the property

The Mansion House -“Αρχοντικό”

Built in the time of The Crusades, a beautifully restored stone house with all its original features. Built on rock with ancient wood beams, hand crafted stonework, bread oven, arches & working fireplace.

in the old days it was known as the “Mansion” or "Αρχοωτικo " of the village, built with the finest materials which have endured to this day.

With many inside & outside dining and relaxing areas combining the atmospheric history of the house with contemporary living; a private courtyard & large upper terraces giving far reaching sea & mountain views, this is a place to experience the essence of old Greece, where time has stood still, and life goes on unchanged.

Nestled in the winding whitewashed lanes, a minutes walk to the “platea” with fresh springs and tavernas, but with total privacy, peace & quiet.

The property is close to some of the most beautiful unspoilt beaches on the south coast, Agia Fotini, Ligres and Triopetra to name just a few.

What makes this villa unique

An architecturally beautiful house, steeped in history & atmosphere. Filled with light, with amazing views to Triopetra beach and the mountains. With all the benefits of a village house having tavernas and supermarket on your doorstep, but totally private and very quiet.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We stayed in the Mansion house for a week in October to recharge our batteries. What can I say! this house has a special healing atmosphere. Lots of comfy places to curl up with a good book or simply look at the view. It’s just a short walk from the Village centre yet it’s so quiet and peaceful.

It has all the comforts you need, a real home from home, only much better. We spent lovely days walking the beautiful unspoilt beaches and driving country roads with magnificent scenery. The villagers were so kind and gave us oranges from their trees. Could live here permanently , it’s paradise!

Apart from a beach holiday, this is a chance to experience life in a traditional Greek village. To relax away from mass tourism and modern life. Go snorkelling in crystal clear waters. Walk ancient trails, finding rare orchids. Spot eagles soaring overhead. In 5-10 minutes by car in either direction are traditional tavernas situated right on the beach serving good local fare and freshly caught fish. Wander through the village lanes and find grapes, pomegranates and figs in abundance. Explore Crete easily; the ancient Minoan sites, The amazing Gorges, Rethymno wth its Venetian fortress. The list is endless and a more detailed list can be found in your welcome pack.

The Mansion House - Mountain & Sea Views - Quiet & Secluded
average rating of 5.0 based on 2 reviews

Lovely house in scenic setting.

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in this beautiful part of Crete before and were not disappointed. The beaches were as unspoilt as ever and the local tavernas supplied great quality local food and wine at superb prices.

The house itself is amazing, unique with loads of unusual features.

We slept very comfortably, it was very peaceful and quiet.

The courtyard is totally private and it was wonderful to lie outside on the terraces at night and watch the stars.

The rest of the house is well equipped with everything you require, but not cluttered. We all had an excellent relaxing stay and will definitely return to this special place.

Experience real Greece. Kerames is located in a remote part of Crete, in an area of outstanding natural beauty and far from the crowds of tourists. Explore unspoilt beaches and hidden coves. Visit the ancient Preveli monastery and the beautiful Palm beach and gorge. Family run tavernas with home cooked food and fresh fish are dotted along the coastline. The Minoan site of Faistos and recently discovered Port of Komos and Roman city of Gortys are all within easy reach. Under an hours’ drive from the historic town of Rethymno with Venetian fortress, museum and markets. Just 20 minutes away is the town of Spili with its famous springs, shops, banks, health centre and tavernas.

Visit the fishing village of Agia Galini where you can book boat tours and enjoy the shops in the lanes leading to the port. A short drive away is the impressive gorge of Agios Antonios.

The Minoan sites of Faistos, recently discovered port at Komos, and Roman city of Gortys are all within easy reach.

Nearby is the Amari valley, where traditional mountain villages, with their Plane trees, cool springs, narrow whitewashed lanes and kafenions are untouched by tourism, as is the village of Kerames. Crete is dotted with natural Springs, providing water rich in minerals, such as magnesium and calcium. These can also be found in Kerames.

An area rich in wildlife, flora and fauna, where you can find rare wild orchids and watch eagles soar overhead.

Other Activities: Swimming & Snorkelling. Relaxing & Sightseeing. Walking & Climbing. Bird Spotting. Horse Riding. Local Cuisine.
