A beautiful light and spacious modern 2 bedroom 2 bathroom duplex apartment with its own front door on ground level opening directly onto the gardens. The apartment has recently undergone refurbishment and redecoration.
The kitchen and dining area are at entrance level, with steps leading down to the lounge and balcony and steps leading up to the bedrooms each situated on its own floor.
The apartment is fully tiled with full air-con. (air-con also has heating so apartment is suitable for a winter let). The master bedroom has a super king size bed which can also be changed to two single beds if required. There is an ensuite bathroom with bath with shower enclosure over, the second (twin) bedroom has the second good sized shower room situated next to it. The bedrooms and lounge both have blackout blinds or curtains. Wardrobes are equipped with plenty of hangers.
The dining room and kitchen are equipped for 6 guests.
There is a double sofa bed and single sofa bed situated in the lounge area, this area also has blackout blinds on the windows and internal curtains to separate it from the dining area and kitchen if used as a third bedroom at night.
A travel cotbed is also available.
The kitchen is fully equipped with microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. (there is a dryer in the communal launderette).
Free, safe parking is situated outside the apartment.
There is also a small library of books, in many languages, in the reception area of the complex for guests to borrow.
Towels and linen can be changed if required at an extra charge of £18.50/20 euros on stays of less than 14 nights. On stays of 14 nights and over, one mid term towels and linen change is included, any extra towel and linen changes can be offered at a charge of £18.50/20 euros.
Ice packs, Beach umbrella and Beach toys, books and dvds are available in the apartment to use.
Satellite tv (channels include English and D/os/ch/fr/es/nl) Dvd player and wifi (high speed internet 'hotspot in apartment. There is a wifi charge of £18.50/20 euros per week to be made payable after booking if required. There is also communal wifi at the resort reception area.
The lounge area has floor to ceiling French doors that open onto a balcony area which has a table and chairs and faces the rising sun so perfect for breakfast and alfresco dining.
A sturdy safe with an electronic combination (your choice) is provided in the apartment .
The Tavira Gardens complex is regarded as one of the best of its kind in the Eastern Algarve, buildings are in the Moorish style with lush mature tropical gardens. The complex has two pool areas each with adjacent children’s pools and loungers and umbrellas, a playground, tennis court, boules pitch, gymnasium, sauna, bbq's and bistro.
The bistro is next to the main pool and offers a selection of reasonably priced meals. Drinks and snacks can also be served in the main pool area.
There may be a small charge for use of the tennis courts and gym. (tennis rackets and balls can be hired from reception).
Tavira gardens is 10 minutes from the motorway and a short drive or 15 minute walk from Tavira centre, or a taxi ride is approx 4 euros. The local supermarket is a 5 minute walk, approximately 300m and freshly baked pastries and bread can be purchased daily from here. Tavira is a beautiful historic town as well as a lively fishing port and offers fish as a speciality in its many inexpensive restaurants and tapas bars. Tavira has a large indoor market, selling fresh fruit, vegetables, meats, fish and cheeses all locally caught or grown.
Tavira boasts a large new shopping mall The Grande Plaza, (approximately 800m from the apartment) with boutiques, food court, cinema etc.. (The cinema shows the latest films, English films are shown in English with Portugese subtitles.
Tavira has managed to largely avoid the brash disco bars and lager louts that plague many of the resorts of the western Algarve, this makes it ideal for family holidays but your teenagers can still let their hair down, there are at least two or three good dance clubs in town.
June to September the local Camara (town council) organises street theatre, folk music and dance sessions, exhibitions, fairs, markets, a film festival, etc...
The town abounds in architectural relics of its Roman, Moorish and Crusader history.
The best beaches in the area are those of Ilha da Tavira, a sandbar which stretches along the coast of Tavira and which is reached by various ferries or by means of a 'toy' train. The Island has some 8 miles (12km) of white sands (even a remote nudist beach). Ferry or train take 5 to 10 minutes. Bars, Restaurants, lounger/umbrella hire are available on the beaches but you can also walk a few hundred yards and stake out your own uncluttered area.
The Guidiana River marks the border between Spain and Portugal. Centuries of conflict between the two have left a series of walled towns along the riverbanks. The Guidiana Valley is approx. 20 miles (30km) from Tavira but probably the best way to explore the walled towns is to take a leisurely river cruise from Villa Real do Sto Antonia (they stop for lunch en route up river).
The Ria Formosa Nature Park surrounds Tavira, rich in flora, fauna, it is ideal for birdwatching, rambling, cycling, horseriding etc..
The Benamor golf club is only a 5 minute drive away, and they do rent clubs by the round, or Blue Sky Golf rent clubs by the week and will deliver and pick up from the accommodation.
