Luxurious retreat in beautiful countryside
We stayed here in the last week in August. This is an incredibly glorious home, the pictures do not do it justice. The owner, who is English, has done everything she can to make her home as welcoming as possible.
You have complete freedom to use the whole property, with a lovely garden and seating areas. Our kids loved serving us from the bar. The owner stays next door, but you would hardly know it and is happy to help with any questions.
The pool is not heated, but refreshing and extremely clear and clean.
There is so much to do in the area. One day we went for a walk to discover old WW2 resistance bunkers in the woods and on another we visited the castle where Richard the Lion Heart was killed. Our favourite time was swimming in the local lakes, one of which has a zip wire across it!
The local area is very beautiful and quiet and the local town is just a 7 min drive away. There are loads of restaurants in the area, but we choose to BBQ each evening and then star gaze.
Hi, thanks so much for taking the time to write a review, I hope really appreciate it. Regards Ruthie
A beautiful paradise
This is a beautiful farmhouse, our first impression was that we had stepped out of the car and into a beautiful paradise.
The farmhouse is very well equipped and nothing was too much trouble for Ruthie who was always on hand, but in no way intrusive, to offer advice on places to visit and things to do. The rooms are large and the master bedroom is simply breathtaking and even in temperatures into the mid 30’s the thickness of the walls ensured that the farmhouse stayed beautifully cool.
The swimming pool was bordered from the house by beautiful plants and shrubs giving the feeling of complete privacy.
The outdoor dining area and bar was a fabulous place to eat our meals cooked on the stunning french barbecue.
The forest in the garden gave rise to some wonderful walks and wildlife. The hamlet is small but every single local that we met were wonderfully friendly greeting us with a smile and a wave. The local area is steeped in history ranging from Richard the Lionheart’s chateau at Brie and the tunnels dug by the resistance in WW2 in the Foret du Boubon to the haunting remains of Oradour-sur-Glane; a sobering visit but one which I am so glad we made.
If you need a beach just a 20 minute drive from the farmhouse is the lovely lake at St.Esteph, a lovely safe environment for children to play.
We could not have asked for a better more relaxing place to finish our holiday and we definitely cannot wait to return.
Thank you so much.
Hi again, thank you so much for the great review, it means so much to me. Hope to see you all again soon. Ruthie.

Was a fantastic week
Would do it again
Hi, thanks for the review, hope to see you back again soon. Ruthie.
Beautifully restored farmhouse in the Limousin region.
The property has been beautifully renovated to a high specification, nestled in amongst the trees in a sleepy hamlet but only 5 minutes away from the amenities of Cussac,
The interior is well presented with a fabulous master bedroom and en-suite with two other good sized double bedrooms.
The kitchen is modern and well-equipped with two separate options for indoor dining and sitting, and the TV has UK channels.
Great thought has been given to the exterior landscaping with different shaded areas for dining and relaxing around the pool, with the bonus of an outside bar area with an additional fridge to store food and drinks and another covered seating area..
Welcome pack on arrival was an added bonus and information about various day trips and restaurants is provided in the property.
A week in the Limousin
The gite was as described on the website.
Communication very prompt and accurate from the owner.
A very nice converted farmhouse well cared for by the owner who was onsite for assistance if needed. Useful information and maps in the house which helped as it was our first visit to the area.
We enjoyed trips to the local town of Cussac, cycling to the Voie Vert and surrounding villages and also a very nice local walk around the Forest with interesting resistance hideouts.
The children enjoyed the swimming pool and serving mum and dad at the outdoor bar.
Hi, thanks so much for your review, it means a lot to me. Hope to see you all again soon in the near future. Kind regards Ruthie.
A Stunning House in a beautiful area
A wonderful stay in the Limousin / Dordogne area.
The house as pool are as per the pictures, a truly stunning property to stay and relax at. The house is beautiful and the outdoor areas are perfect for long hot days and drinks in the evening. The pool is larger than it looks in the photos and the area around it perfect for lazy days. The setting is exceptionally peaceful and the surrounding countryside completely unspoilt. We took bikes and whilst the terrain is hilly, you can cycle to 3 castles within a 15 mile ride.
Brantome and the lake at St. Estephe were great days out, the latter of which offered free kayak use. Some of the surrounding villages were also very pretty.
A big thank you to the owner, who gave great info and help.
