Long weekend break!
Had a great time. Quiet, comfortable and peaceful cabin. Close to city; but just far enough away!
We had a great time. Enjoyed the quiet. Lita was a wonderful host and would stay there again.
Very nice location. Loved the house which had everything needed to feel right at home.
Great location and house but online description needs update
We had a wonderful stay at "the home in the trees" and we did hear the loons each evening. The house was unique and full of character with plenty of room for 2 couples. Plenty of hot water and a newly refurbished laundry room. It was VERY quiet and peaceful, up a long unpaved road and was a great base for our daily "expeditions" to the Maine coast, to Schoodic Peninsular, Mount Desert Island and Deer Isle (Stonington Harbor and the Barred Island hike both a "must")......all trips recommended by the owners and well worth it!!!
The home is obviously going through some changes/improvements and I think the online description of the property needs updating....such as there is no internet, there is no TV (other than use as a DVD player). Although only inferred by the photos, views of the Phillips Lake were minimal.
Also we found a lack of kitchenware (silverware and crockery....mostly 3 of everything).......also only 2 of the 4 burners on the stove top were working. We also thought the outside of the property needed attention..... outside furniture was mostly unusable.....we did not spend time around the fire pit as a result.
Apologies for the number of comments but we all thought this place has terrific potential with only a little bit more work. Thank you for a most enjoyable stay!!!!!
Sorry but it clearly states no WiFi in the description. As for the silverware, there eight forks, eight butter knifes and nine spoons (mix of big and medium) so I’m not sure if they were in the wrong place and my husband might have restored to the utensils drawer without telling me.
As for the outdoor furniture, I’m so sorrY. Past people had recently broken the chair (and two were just gone) and I was not told. They were replaced immediately. Unfortunately, because it was so late in the season, I had to get blue.
Things aren’t always noticed in cleaning (only three hours to flip) but we want to make every guests visit good so let us know if something is wrong or missing and we will take care of. Las
Cabin in the woods
We spent three weeks in Maine and enjoyed the beauty and weather of the area. The cabin is unique with wonderful architectural details. Very comfortable with a fully equipped kitchen. As stated in previous reviews the skylights do drip when it rains. We did glue three chairs that needed repair, and I replaced the drip pans on the stove that had rusted through. The reason that this is not a five star rating is that there was no WiFi and the TV was relegated to four PBS channels, one of which was for children. There was a collection of old DVD movies, unfortunately most we had seen.
Memorable family getaway
We enjoyed our family gathering / reunion at Dedham cabin....
A quaint cozy cabin away from all, deep in the wood ( last house at end of road). Kitchen , bath, etc are functional, has everything except dishwasher and AC. Beds are comfortable including the futon in the sunroom, but some dining chair are in bad condition falling apart. House maintenance could be better, I remember upon arrival... dining table and countertop were sticky which i had to wiped down but maybe result from the hot humid weather July 4 week? One inconvenient is garbage can located at the foot of the main road...far from the house. So we just throw away trash every morning as we
made our drive to Acadia NP (about 45 min...not a bad drive along the road through Elesworth...there shopping center).
At the end of stay...we were ask to load up the washer which is odd for guests or should this be part of house maintenance ?
great even with problems
We enjoyed our stay, especially for the accomodations of the cottage.
The bedrooms and bathrooms were great. The Kitchen was functional especially with all the stuff that was available for cooking.
Problems: almost all the side chairs were coming apart. We would have fixed them ourselves if we had some glue.
Also, two of the skylights in the Living room leaked.
