About the property

The Chalet is located in the hamlet of Villarabout, a stone's throw from the center of Saint Martin de Belleville. The Belleville valley is a collection of traditional Alpine villages, with historical Baroque churches and Savoyard farms, located in the heart of the largest and most modern ski area in the world, Les 3 Vallees.

The Chalet was built in the traditional Alpine style combining stone and wood, but benefits from modern layout and comfort with 5 bedrooms and their ensuite bathrooms. South facing and situated on the sunny side of the valley with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, the Chalet benefits from day-long sunlight. Villarabout is a typical savoyard village with a combination of old farm houses and modern chalets. Saint Martin de Bellevillle's ski lifts are 1.2km away - there is a shuttle bus which departs close to the chalet. There are two parking spots in front of the Chalet and ample parking available near the ski lifts.

Layout description:

- The Ground Floor was fully renovated in 2017 and has three bedrooms with en suite bathrooms. Two of the bedrooms have a double bed and the third has two bunk beds. The ski local is equipped with a modern ski shoe drier and heater.

- The First Floor has been fully renovated in 2018 (gutted and redone entirely), equipped with a modern kitchen (Nespresso coffee machine, dishwasher, Le Creuset pots and pans). There is a fire wood chimney in a large independent living room with its adjoining dining room (cable TV and DVD). There is a large balcony with a sweeping view on the surrounding mountains.

- The Second Floor was also completely gutted and fully renovated in 2018. It has two rooms: one double bedroom and one triple bedroom with 3 single beds (perfect for children or a couple with a child) , a large family bathroom and a balcony with a breathtaking view of the Belleville valley.

Photos of the renovation will be available shortly (existing pictures are before renovations).

In the village of Saint Martin you will find a large grocery shop, a butcher, boulangerie, pharmacy, fromagerie and a number of delicious restaurants. The area is a foodie destination home to a 3 star Michelin restaurant called La Bouitte.

A few kilometers into the valley is Les Menuires which is a modern ski resort with a ice skating rink, cinemas bars etc. Further up is Val Thorens (18km from the Chalet by road and also accessible on ski) one of the highest skiing resorts in the Alps (2300m altitude) with some of the best powder snow and off-piste skiing.

The closest train station is Moutiers (cabs and buses can bring you to St Martin, car can be rented at the train station) and Lyon and Geneva airports are a 2h drive.

You will collect the keys from the agency located on the 'place de la mairie'' of Saint Martin de Belleville.

We are native from the Alps, live abroad and have been skiing in the 3 Vallees for 20 years. We fell in love with this village that combines traditional charm while offering access to some of the best skiing slopes and infrastructure in the world.

We have fully renovated the chalet in 2017 and 2018, carefully choosing materials to create a home mixing modern comfort and traditional style. We trust you will look after it so we can continue renting and sharing this chalet. We have kept the price at the same level pré-renovation to make it affordable for families.

Presque parfait. Almost perfect

Ce chalet est parfait pour les grands groupes. Beaucoup de places, beaucoup de chambres et beaucoup de salles de bains.

Le village est authentique ce qui n'est pas désagréable pour aller à l'arrêt de la navette (5min à pied).

Ce chalet sera superbe quand les rénovations seront terminées. L'étage du bas qui est déjà rénové est très beau.

On a eu quelques tout petits soucis mais qui ont été rapidement réglé grâce à la disponibilité de la propriétaire et qui n'existeront plus une fois le chalet complètement rénové.

Je recommande et penserai à y retourner si notre groupe d'amis décide de revenir aux 3 vallées.

Spacieux et confortable

Notre séjour au chalet Marmottes a été fort agréable. 

Nous étions un groupe de 7 adultes et 5 enfants.

Nous avons particulièrement apprécié les salles de bain et WC privatifs dans chaque chambre. L'espace commun avec la table à multiples rallonges nous a permis de prendre nos repas tous ensemble ( parents et enfants ).

Le local à skis avec le sèche chaussures est un vrai plus. 

Le stationnement devant la maison est peu praticable quand il y a de la neige. Mais il y a des possibilités de stationnement en bord de route sur la rue perpendiculaire. Nous avons utilisé le transport en navette et la voiture avec stationnement au parking cochet pour nous rendre aux télécabines de Saint Martin de Belleville : très pratiques l'un comme l'autre. (Attention navette : 2 départs le matin et 2 retours en fin d'après-midi. Pas de navette entre midi et deux heures .)

Dans le chalet , les chambres du bas sont rénovées avec beaucoup de goût. Une fois la totalité refaite cela sera superbe. 

L'espace extérieur à côté du chalet a été investi par les enfants pour des descentes en luge, des batailles de boules de neige et une tentative de construction d igloo.

Notre hôte Juliette a fait preuve d'écoute et de disponibilité afin de répondre à nos demandes pré, per et post séjour.

C'est avec plaisir que nous retournerons au chalet des Marmottes.

Schön gelegenes Chalet

Das Chalet liegt etwas außerhalb von St. Martin. Zum Bäcker bin ich morgens immer 5 Minuten in den Ort gefahren. Dort gibt's tolle Lebensmittelgeschäfte wie Metzgerei und für lokale Spezialitäten. Weiter gibt es super Restaurants. Der Ort ist authentisch und nicht zu vergleichen mit den Betonburgen weiter oben im Tal.

Das Chalet wird gerade überarbeitet. Einige Zimmer sind bereits neu gemacht ( Stand Februar 2018), andere noch nicht. Allerdings waren auch die noch nicht renovierten Zimmer nett eingerichtet. Die Betten waren insgesamt sehr bequem.

Die Probleme, die wir hatten wurden schnell beseitigt. Die Kommunikation mit der Eigentümerin Juliette war außerordentlich gut.
