San Vito dei Normanni Villa Rental Photos and Description

5* Villa sleeps 6 + 2. Plus 2 cots. English speaking housekeeper

Villa Diana is like a small bit of paradise with its amazing pool with a swimup bar, and separate paddling pool for children. It is very private being surrounded by its own high walled beautiful garden. This 300 year old stone villa, built by a noble family as their holiday home, lovingly restored & renovated to a very high standard, was filmed by Grand Designs - Trade Secrets. See the transformation video of before & after under 'sites & videos'. It has full aircon/heating. It is fitted with high quality fixtures & fittings, entry system, security system, bug nets & window shutters for those all important lie-ins, a comfortable sitting room, a separate lounge with flat screen Sky TV, three double bedrooms one with ensuite. A large bathroom, and a study area, with desk & free WIFI. Most rooms have high vaulted ceilings. All original stone features have been retained & it has been recently tastefully furnished with luxury solid furniture. An area around the villa of over one & a half acres has been enclosed by a 3m high wall to create a Masseria-style property. The Villa is situated down a quiet cul-de-sac. From the road access to the landscaped walled garden is along the Villa's 120m long mature eucalyptus & pine tree-lined driveway, through two sets of gates, the inner one opening out to a large parking area. The Villa itself is surrounded by 600 square metres of tiled patio, which is fenced off from the parking/paddock area by dry stone wall, trees & decorative fencing. The walled garden retains many ancient trees such as Carob, date, crab apples, pomegranate, figs, olives, vines, almonds, nespole, lemons & mandarins and original plants such as aloes, pittosporum, lilies, & other bulbs. A further 800 plants; bushes & trees have been planted inside the Villa’s walls. To the front of the villa an Italianate Garden has been created which is divided into four quarters each with its own individual design.

Walled garden : Within the walled garden there is a stunning 15 x 7 m swimming pool with 'wet' bar & spa/paddling pool. Illuminated at night. The pool has a safety fence and locked gates around it. There is a slide into the pool which is two metres deep at that end. A pool volley ball game & inflatables are provided for your fun. Quality sun loungers on non-slip paved sunbathing area surround the pool. The sunken poolside bar has sink, fridge, cooker, pool box with toys. Sitting in the pool on the bar stools sipping cocktails are a must! Near the pool al fresco dining is made possible by a fabulous wrought-iron shaded pagoda with stone circular table & lazy Susan - seating for 16. There are comfortable settee, and a further set of tables & chairs for seating under the covered terraces around the villa. Steps down over the rockery lead to a large lawn and outside covered games area, with table tennis, and large trampoline. From here a vine covered pergola leads to the Italianate garden with well-stocked fish pond which is protected by wire netting, where one can walk amongst the many flowers and trees. The garden & land has many fig trees: There's nothing nicer than picking fresh figs for breakfast!

An ideal retreat for those wishing to get away from it all, but near to the town of San Vito with its many restaurants, bars & entertainment.

At Villa Diana we are environmentally friendly. We have solar panels to heat our water. Photovoltaic panels to supply us with electricity, a biological system for treating wastewater from ORM a leader in production of biological water treatment. About Edwina

Villa Diana is a detached stone villa that has remained in the same family since being built over 300 years ago. It was owned by landed gentry who owned many properties and land in the area of San Vito dei Normanni; they used the villa as their holiday home. It belonged to a friend of the current owner who did not wish to part with it. Rarely do properties of this type come onto the market & it had laid empty for twelve years since her mother died.

Edwina purchased this villa in 2002

Why Edwina chose Brindisi

The owner bought this country home because it is of Puglian heritage. Not only because of its many Mediterranean characteristics but the long driveway makes it is so unusual to find a property with such seclusion within a mile of a town and 15 minutes from an international airport - but not on the flight path!

What makes this villa unique

There are many wonderful photographs to take from every angle of the property and gardens but best of all its seclusion & privacy means you can swim & bathe as mother nature intended without anyone seeing you.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The holiday in your beautiful villa was perfect thank you so much. We spent days exploring the surrounding towns - we all loved Puglia and its people. Our days were spent lazily around the villa, trying to creep up on the frogs without disturbing them (6 was the most we saw at any one time) picking the delicious fruit and vegetables, watching the birds swoop over the pool and generally enjoying the pool and gardens. Long lazy lunches around one of the well appointed tables - it was difficult for us to tear ourselves away. Wherever we go for our next holiday its going to be a hard task finding a villa as homely and welcoming with such delightful gardens and pool - Villa Diana will be our benchmark from now on!

Beautiful private villa in total privacy

  • 5 of 5

We made a last minute booking just 24hrs before our arrival and Diana couldn't have been more helpful. Everything was exactly as described, perfect pool and wonderful gardens, where we could relax and there was no need to see another soul! Air conditioning in all rooms was a major blessing the first few days. There was an enormous amount of outside seating, both by the pool and for outdoor dining, so there was never a problem finding a place to relax either in the sun or the shade. The hammock by the pool was my favourite in the evenings, with the smell of honeysuckle and jasmin drifting over me!

Made use of some of the lovely veggies in the garden and very much enjoyed the tastefully decorated interiors and very well equipped bathrooms.

I would recommend this villa to anyone who wants to get away from it all, indulge themselves and feel indulged for a while. Edwina was also extremely kind and helpful, everyone did their best to make this a perfect holiday.

Beyond Expectation

  • 5 of 5

Villa Diana has an elegant charm. The Italian kitchen welcomes you into the home. And it just gets better with vaulted ceiling to each spacious rooms. Everywhere was spotless and the facilities excellent.

It was a difficult choice to stay by the pool in the lovely gardens, go to the nearby seaside or visit one of the many old towns and villages in Puglia and sit in the square drinking coffee and watch the Italians. Lecce. Orsini, and the caves at Matera are well worth a visit but we particularly enjoyed discovering the town of Narbo which seemed to have a magnificent church on every corner and we were the only tourist in sight.

I would certainly recommend Villa Diana and Puglia to anyone who wants to enjoy relaxing, eating and exploring this lovely part of Italy

Une villa magnifique

  • 5 of 5

Great villa with fabulous pool and garden

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from a splendid week at Villa Diana. The villa is very well equipped, comfortable (not always the case with villa rentals), and obviously has been lovingly restored. We spent most of our time outdoors enjoying the pool and gardens, appreciating the range of shady places for reading when not toasting by the pool on the sun loungers. The pool is fantastic. Our teenage girls had lots of fun on the slide and everyone enjoyed sitting at the swim up bar with a cold drink from the nearby fridge. The baby pool and numerous toddler toys would also make this a great place for families with younger children. The garden is amazing and we loved watching the lizards and frogs in the pond. The super abundance of figs completed our happiness!

I have no hesitation in recommending Villa Diana to anyone.

Nezabudnute?ný pobyt vo Villa Diana

  • 5 of 5

Nemohli sme si ni? viac pria? z nášho pobytu, bolo to tu nádherné. Rada by som preto odporu?ila pobyt vo Villa Diane!!

?akujeme majite?om, že nám umožnili využi? ich úžasný domov pre našu dovolenku a tešíme sa, že sa sem opä? ?oskoro vrátime!!

EN: We really loved our week stay in Villa Diana!!

The booking process was simple and I spoke in great length with the owner beforehand on email and she was happy to answer all of my questions and was very helpful.

On arrival we were so pleasantly surprised, the Villa itself was exactly as described, if not better. We looked around and instantly felt at home.

Villa Diana is in a fantastic setting surrounded by olive, fruit and nut trees and splendid herb garden for your culinary delights. It is completely private and remote but within easy reach of shops, restaurants and of course the beaches. Villa itself is absolutely gorgeous, as are the grounds and pool area, it has been beautifully restored and is equipped with everything that you could need whilst away. The weather was perfect and we would not hesitate to return to Puglia and indeed Villa Diana. It was a relaxing and enjoyable trip, we only wish we could have stayed longer.

We could not have asked for anymore from our stay here, it was wonderful. I would highly recommend staying at Villa Diana.

Thank you for allowing us to use your wonderful home for our holiday, and we look forward to returning again soon!

Secret Puglia

  • 5 of 5

Have just returned from a wonderful week staying at your delightul villa. First visit to Puglia and it will not be the last. Why has this area been been off the popular tourist map for so long? Cheaper than other parts of Italy with wonderful restaurants and excellent wine. Loved strolling round the local towns and cities,.fascinating architecture. We found the villa a delight and have to congratulate you on how you have managed to retain the features of the three hundred old property with all mod-cons. The swimming pool was a great hit with with the children the adults admired the wonderful garden. Have told friends about our holiday and look forward to returning hopefully next year..
