A true Venetian apartment
Less than expected. Owner promised to provide basic supplies but some olive oil, balsamic vinegar and salt hardly meet expectations. I realize that this is an old building, but the owner really should do a little maintenance every 20 to 30 years, damaged walls, peeling paint, electrical outlets covered with masking tape or didn't work. Locks were difficult to operate.
The dishes that were there had to be washed because they were dirty. The floors were filthy, the mattress and pillows must have been at least 20 years old.
The previous renters left empty packages and empty bottles stuffed in the cabinets behind other items.
The most irritating issue was that we were expected to wait at the apartment every day for garbage and recycling collection til noon. Or face a 167 Euro fine. We were supposed to be notified by the doorbell, but that did not work either. Fortunately, the garbage collectors just happened to be outside when we were leaving one day and we were able to avoid getting a fine.
A word of warning to others who might consider renting this apartment; don't. Do yourself a favor and find something else, almost any other place in Venice will be better..
even when the client wanted to take revenge on something, we never read so many falsehoods put together. We never promise basic supplies since we simple do not provide them. The cleaning of the apartment is absolutely good as dozens of reviews testify and mattress and pillow are no more then 3 years old. Of course the building is very old (as all the houses in Venice) and some parts in the wall are damaged because the humidity. For this reason, we do regular maintenance every year in November-December. The low in Venice about garbage is to put them out of the door within 8:00 am and not to wait in the apartment for some notification... The instructions about garbage are clearly highlighted in the kitchen and we do not understand why you because you waited inside the apartment until noon. You were the only one in Venice!
Good location and clean
We were met at the boat stop and accompanied to the apartment. Place was clean and neat. Bathroom odor was less than desirable but the owner said he would check it out. Location was perfect - just a short walk to grocery store, restaurants, St. Mark's Square.
Danke an Mimi! Die Wohnung ist liebevoll eingerichtet mit allem, was man für einen längeren Aufenthalt benötigt. Wir kommen gern wieder.
Great value, lovely apartment
I stayed 4 nights in the Residence of the Templars, and my friend stayed on an additional 3 nights. We were met at the water taxi stop by Mimi, who helped us with our bags and showed us to the apartment, just down the street, and she showed us how to work everything in the apartment. She was just delightful, bubbly and outgoing. When I had problems with the wifi the next day, she came around in minutes and showed me how to reset the modem. The iffy wifi is the only problem we had, and I suspect that it was a "Venice thing", not exclusive to our place, and it was not a big deal. After all, as a previous guest said, who comes to Venice to spend time on the internet? We had a wonderful time in our little flat: plenty of hot water and heat, very clean. Nice big purple towels. The neighborhood was off the beaten tourist path, so it was quiet, and we were able to see Venetians going about their daily lives. Vaporetto stops were 5-10 mins. away, and Piazza San Marco was a easy walk. Thank you Guy and Mimi; I will be back!
So close to everything
We were met as described in Guy's email by Sonia at the Arsenale stop. A short walk (only 1 bridge!) later we arrived at the apartment on a quiet street. The grocery store was only a block away, St. Mark's and Rialto were only 10 minutes away, and we loved getting "lost" on the quiet back streets. The Templari apartment was great! We loved having the convenience of a kitchen and Sonia showed us how to use the Italian coffee maker. We bought supplies at the market and enjoyed breakfast and snacks. The bed was comfortable, and it was great to have a separate sitting room for enjoying our morning coffee. Air conditioning was a definite must with the July heat and humidity, so it was good this was available. We also enjoyed having a washer and the little courtyard to air-dry our clothing. Sonia was a excellent resource to get us started. She provided a map, pointed out several places to go/see/eat and gave us a general sense of where we were. She also gave some good sightseeing tips, like take a large bag to check in before going to St. Mark's to help skip the long line! We definitely recommend staying here if you're looking for a quiet, affordable alternative to hotels and you want a more local experience.
Located five minutes from Piazza San Marco, is a charming ground floor apartment, very comfortable, just a few meters from the Palace of the Knights Templar (later Priory of the Order of Malta) became the seat of the Templars in Venice in the twelfth century and whose charm and mystery still seems to surround himself. The apartment is located in the colorful and popular district of 'Castello', where one feels the real life of Venice and lived side by side with the Venetians. This is the most strategic position in Venice, hence all the main attractions can be reached by walking for 10 minutes: Piazza San Marco, the Rialto Bridge and its colorful market, the Biennale, the Basilica della Salute, 's Arsenal, etc. .. Moreover, the beach of the Lido of Venice can be reached in 15 minutes by ferry.
