Overview

About the property

1 bedroom loft apartment, sleeps 4

The Loft is a light and airy studio apartment with kitchen and shower room. Enjoy fabulous views of the Leicestershire countryside. 2 additional single beds can be added to the space upon request.

The Loft sits above an alarmed garage for the vehicles and trailers of visitors to Mallory Park (1 mile). We have reliable wifi for business travellers. Children will love our rope swing, trampoline and the friendly sheep living in our field.

The Loft is a purpose built studio apartment above a large double garage at the entrance to our property. The space is accessed via a single flight of stairs. The Loft is split into two spaces - a large studio with king sized bed and a small second bedroom. Up to 2 additional fold away beds and a cot can be provided in these 2 spaces - you can let us know what you prefer.

The Loft has a kitchen with fridge, cooker, hob and microwave. We provide all the utensils and crockery you will need to make a meal.

The Loft is ideally situated for visits to the city of Leicester (9 miles) and sites relating to the Battle of Bosworth Field and Richard III. Peckleton is a pretty small village 2 miles outside Desford, which has shops and facilities, and 1 mile from Kirkby Mallory, where there is a small village store. Our house is situated on the main road through the village.

Perfect

My partner and I fancied a getaway close to home and chose this place on a whim, and it tuned out to be the most fantastic and relaxing stay we've ever had anywhere. In short - we want one!

Car: necessary

We’re biased, but we think this corner of the midlands is a hidden gem. There is so much to do and see here.

Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre (www.bosworthbattlefield.org.uk)

Recently enhanced with lottery funds the Heritage Centre provides a fascinating insight into one of the most important battlefields in British history, along with a falconry display centre and regular cultural activities and re-enactments. The centre also has a pleasant battlefield trail, a 2.5 mile circuitous walk that leads you to The Battlefield Line (see below).

Mallory Park (www.malloryparkcircuit.com)

A regular series of motorcycle and vintage car races and meetings takes place at this intimate circuit. Less than a mile away.

Tropical Birdland (www.tropicalbirdland.com)

Conveniently located in Desford, this is a local attraction that displays a number of tropical birds, some that you can feed (and hold if you’re feeling brave). They also have a great childrens playground and a café.

Twycross Zoo (www.twycrosszoo.org)

A nationally known zoo that is renowned for its endangered breeding programme and hosting the largest collection of monkeys and apes in the Western world. They also have a very popular splash zone so take a towel if you visit in the summer.

Adventure Golf at Blaby Golf Club (www.blabygolfcentre.co.uk)

For an hour’s entertainment the Blaby Golf Centre has an impressive crazy golf course that is available on a walk up basis. The centre also has a 9 hole course.

The Battlefield Line (www.battlefieldline.co.uk)

A vintage train line that runs between Shenton and Shackerstone. This is seasonal so please check the website for dates and times of operation.

Bosworth Water Park (www.bosworthwatertrust.co.uk)

An extensive water park that provides canoe and sailing lessons as well as pedalo rides spread over 50 acres. Very popular during summer days so please be aware.

Bosworth Marina (www.bosworthmarina.co.uk)

If you fancy yourself a day out on the Ashby Canal you are able to hire a day boat from the Bosworth Marina

Meridian Leisure Park (www.meridian-leisure.co.uk)

A complex of entertainment and dining options that includes a soft play centre, bowling complex and cinemas to provide options should you decide to take an afternoon out with the family.

King Richard III Visitor Centre and Leicester Cathedral (www.kriii.com)

If you want to find out more on King Richard III and the Battle of Bosworth then we would recommend visiting Leicester and the recently opened visitors centre and adjacent cathedral, where the king is buried. A short walk up the street are Delilah (UK Deli of the Year 2017) and Gelato Village for seriously good ice cream.

National Space Centre (https://spacecentre.co.uk )

Six huge galleries of space-related exhibits and an amazing planetarium. The rocket tower is 42m high and houses two lunar rockets.
