Happy in the hills!
What a lovely, spacious cabin! It had just the right blend of city comfort and country vibe. We were thrilled that we didn't have to walk further to the lake, and equally thankful that the fire pit was just yards away from the back door. All of it combined to make it the perfect fall weekend! Thank you - we'll be back! 😊
Greers Ferry Getaway
Great stay in a great location. One of our best vacations
Awesome family get away!! Comfy cozy, had everything we needed! Good for furbabies, great lake access too!
Summer 2019 lake vacation
The property was better than expected and spacious. Secluded forest feeling but awesome lake access and frontage. Evenings on the deck with friends were the best. Beds were nice. The kitchen works well for a family eating at home. The area doesn’t have a ton of food choices(expected) so packing in all we needed fit perfectly in this kitchen. Just like home. All was comfortable and no surprises. Owner and management are top notch with communication and attentiveness.
Property was just as described. Enjoyed removing myself from the city to be in a SPACIOUS home away from home on the lake. Was nice to hear ALL the sounds of “night time” nature! It is truly tucked in the small town, but WELL worth the drive to get to it. I would love to stay here again!
The cabin is very nice and spacious. The owner is very friendly and helpful. Overall great stay!!!!
***Greers Ferry Lake*** The lake is truly an outdoor paradise popular for water sports, boating, cliff diving, camping, hiking, fishing, and four-wheeling. The area extends from Ozark foothills to the edge of the delta and includes two beautiful lakes, the Little Red River, some of the most beautiful caverns, springs, and waterfalls in the world as well as lots of trails for hiking and four-wheeling.
***Boating*** The lake is 40,000 acres of deep sparkling clear water and fun. The lake has a unique layout that allows room for everyone to ski, tube, fish, houseboat, scuba dive, and swim. Launch your boat at nearby Cherokee Recreation Area (4.5 miles away), Shiloh Park, or Narrows Park. You can drive your boat over to the cabin and dock it in our neighborhood boat dock! BOAT SLIP INCLUDED!!
***Fishing*** Greers Ferry Lake has superb fishing throughout the year. Every game fish native to the state has been stocked by the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission. The lake holds the state record for walleye and striped bass. Other fish like channel catfish, largemouth and white bass, and crappie are abundant and attract fishermen from all over the country. The Little Red River that runs out of Greers Ferry Lake offers additional challenges for rainbow, cutthroat and brown trout. Some of the best fishing on the lake is right in front of our cabin!
***Nature Trails*** Nature trails abound. All you have to do is walk down to the lake and follow the shoreline for the easiest most enjoyable hike. There are developed trails all over the area and an especially nice one winding up Sugar Loaf Mountain, an island in the lake northwest (through the Narrows) from the house, which affords breathtaking views of the lake and surrounding countryside from its summit which is 500 feet above the surface area of the lake.
***Golf*** The golf courses are gorgeous with great layouts. Tannenbaum Golf Club (Golf Digest Rated Top 5 "Best Places To Play In Arkansas and Golf Digest Rated 4.5 Stars), Mountain Ranch Golf Club (Golf Magazine's #2 Best Public Course In Arkansas and Golf Digest Rated 4.5 Stars) , Lost Creek Golf Club, Indian Hills Golf Club, Red Apple Inn Golf Club
***Horseback Riding*** Red River Riding Stables are 25 minutes away. 14085 Hwy 16E, Fairfieled Bay, AR. The owner is Steve Swenson. Steve built the huge old fashioned stable.
***Restaurants*** You can boat over Jansen's Lakefront Restaurant, or drive 10 minutes to eat at Mac's Place (good fish and bbq!), Largemouth Pizza, El Rebezo Authentic Mexican, Sonic, Subway and Bentleys Cafe, which is a local favorite. For more upscale dining go west on Hwy 16 to Fairfield Bay - Indian Hills Country Club, Bogey's, and The Little Red Restaurant.
***Grocery Store/Supplies*** Family Market Grocery, Dollar General, and Ace Hardware are close (approx 7 miles) and a great place to buy groceries, toiletries, and supplies.
***Bridal Veil Water Falls*** A half hour or so southeast are some of the best waterfalls in the area. Bridal Veil Falls are named for their similarity to a bride's veil. So, don't fret if the rain keeps you from boating. Just hop in your car and check out these gems. You can park so close that you can be at the top of the falls within a couple minutes and reach the bottom a few minutes later. If you like to rock hop, follow the stream south and take a left at the first fork to find the second set of falls.
***Flea Markets and Antique Stores*** If you like antiquing and flea markets you will be in heaven. There are dozens of shops to discover literally in any direction you choose to drive. Of course, Hwy 65 between Conway and Branson offers the most popular spots, but try a local favorite - Tumbling Shoals Flea Market near Heber Springs. She's open every day but Tuesday and I promise you won't leave empty-handed.
***Cardboard Boat Races*** The world championship cardboard boat races are held on Sandy Beach in Heber Springs the weekend of July 28th. This event is a blast! The boats are creative, funny, and amazing.
***Blanchard Springs Caverns*** Breathtaking caverns and gorgeous springs and waterfalls are less than an hour's drive North. Take a tour of the cave to beat the heat in the summer. The cave stays a comfortable 58 degrees Fahrenheit year-round. The cave is often called the “living cave” because its constantly changing and growing. The main room is the size of three football fields and has a 100 foot ceiling. Be sure to check out the springs and waterfalls while you are there.
***Buffalo River*** An hour northwest is the best canoeing, kayaking, and floating in the region. The Buffalo River is simply unsurpassed in beauty. The completely pristine natural (undammed) river runs 150 miles past 500 foot tall sandstone and limestone bluffs. Almost all of it is managed by the National Park Service. You can rent a canoe, raft, or kayak at any outfitter and experience the most relaxing day of your life.
