We open the doors to our stylish pied-a-terre. This ground-level flat with private entrance welcomes you to the heart of Edinburgh's New Town UNESCO World Heritage site, but is mere footsteps from cosmopolitan George St. or the delights of Stockbridge.

Just completely reworked to an exemplary standard by a dedicated team with an unflinching eye for quality and detail. The brief: to meld modern flair and convenience with the quiet elegance and discreet grandeur of its Georgian past. This philosophy has enabled us to place every home comfort against a backdrop of restored sash windows, cast iron radiators, lavish paneling, quality ironmongery and indulgent plaster cornicing.

Once inside you'll find generously proportioned rooms, comfortably furnished and thoughtfully lit with eclectic artwork and premium fixtures - many items amassed carefully over time with interesting stories to tell. Everything points to your comfort, enjoyment and wellbeing, helped by us being Edinburgh locals who can step in and assist should the need arise.

  • A four-paneled timber door opens onto a sleek, decadent and generous space - every inch of the walls clad in polished marble. High quality sanitaryware is spaced generously around the room, the huge 'P-bath' being served by an ingenious German system which combines the bath filler with a rainshower and hand-held shower. Heat is provided by a powerful wall-mounted radiator, doubling as a generous towel rail. Ceiling lights complement additional lighting set into the vast heated mirror. This sits over a custom-made shelf, yet again in marble - this time in a vivid burgundy. An extractor fan vents efficiently through the external wall, being manually switched as well as responding automatically to background humidity. Fittings are by Duravit, Carron and Hansgrohe, with lighting by Flos.

  • Entered through a four-paneled solid timber door, a cosy and calm haven awaits. Being dual-aspect, light floods in through two restored windows to highlight immaculate decor, beautiful panelwork and impeccable detailng. After dark the lighting is warm and welcoming, with controls conveniently duplicated at the bedsides alongside USB sockets for overnight charging of mobile devices. A blackout blind completes your comfort. A lavish kingsize bed (5ft) is surrounded by other quality furniture - both new and old - together with a neat built-in wardrobe, whilst heating is taken care of by a vintage cast iron radiator salvaged from one of Edinburgh's historic houses. Lighting is by Flos, BTC and Artemide. William Morris wallpaper is offset by paint from Farrow & Ball.

This - together with the good relations we have with our excellent friendly neighbours - means it's never going to be a party pad, so it won't be for everyone. This is a wonderful and luxurious apartment you never want to leave.

We stayed 18 days in Edinburgh and could experience the marvellous neighborhood. Shops and Cafes all around you, Stockbridge just 2 Blocks aways and downtown Edinburgh (George Street and Princes Street) in walking distance - every wish you could have is easily catered for. Bus stops are just a stone throw away with buses #23 and #27 running every 10 minutes. So location-wise you are spoiled - plus did I tell you about the beautiful facades of New Town Edinburgh?

The apartment itself is breathtakingly beautiful. So many thought through details like USB sockets in the wall, perfect lighting, bluetooth speaker, etc will make your stay better than at home. The bed is very comfortable and there is plenty of cupboard space to stuff your things.

The living room is really big, one window overlooking a garden (we had breakfast there every morning), an immense table which proved to be quite practical and a delightful big modern TV (including a Apple TV). The wallpaper is a fantastic choice, the colour of the comfortable sofa fits right in, everything looks so amazingly tasteful.

The kitchen is more than large enough, has all the utensils you might need and has a very good flow plus a feeling of vastness to it.

The bathroom with its big bath/shower combination including a rain-shower head continues this aesthetically pleasing design. If you need one there is also a capable washing machine with a built in dryer.

To sum it all up: This is a wonderful and luxurious apartment you never want to leave. And Martin and Weng are simply the best hosts you could wish for. With this apartment they have outdone themselves. Great location and an elegant apartment which is worth every penny.

Bespoke flat in great location.

M&W have really outdone themselves with their newly renovated flat. No detail was too small to escape their attention. The decor is polished yet comfortable, the bed comfy, and the kitchen fully equipped (seriously- there's even a rolling pin). Warm and cozy on a dreich day. Great for longer stays with all the amenities you might want, including a washer/dryer and proper hair dryer. Terrific location in New Town just steps away from Stockbridge or a quick walk to city center, and dangerously close to a few of the city's finest bakeries/coffee shops. Three groceries within an easy walk should you choose to cook for yourself. (Did I mention the well-equipped kitchen?) And, of course, M&W are the most delightful and accommodating hosts. We've stayed at another property they own over the years (also delightful) and can honestly say that they go out of their way to make you feel at home and cared for.

Phantastic Appartment in New Town

This is simply a phantastic Appt. in New Town of Edinburgh, just a short walk away from Princess Street anf City center. Martin & Weng created a cozy and stylish place to stay with all the luxury you can think of. The well equipped kitchen, the very comfortable bed, the soft towels, the high standard media equipment and the "feel like home" atmosphere they created overall.. We were truly surprised and would like to come back soon!

A haven to return to

We had a fabulous stay at Martin’s. The property was spotless clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Thoughtfully laid out and furnished, we settled in very quickly. Though we ate out most of the time, the kitchen was fully equipped and would easily cater for guests who prefer home cooked meals.

The property is located in a residential area and a short walk from George Street or Stockbridge. Being located away from the hustle and bustle, it was a haven to return to having been out for the day. Local amenities are just a block in each direction on the main street, Dundas Street.

Some might say that you’re on holiday, you don’t want a ‘home from home’ experience but nothing beats home comfort and Martin’s flat provided this. The experience exceeded our expectations and one to remember for next time.

The East Lothian coast with its myriad beach walks, links courses and pretty costal towns can be reached quickly by car or train, as can the East Neuk of Fife with a string of charming fishing villages.

Edinburgh Airport has multiple flights per day to London and European destinations. The airport is easily reached by a cheap and regular bus or tram which stops a short walk from the flat. The flat is also handy for Edinburgh's main Waverley Station which serves the entire UK comprehensively.

Car use isn't required in Edinburgh since everywhere is walkable, but drivers will find paid parking immediately around the flat, or longer-term parking in one of the city's main car parks.

Those wishing to travel further afield will find Glasgow, Stirling, Perth and St Andrews within easy reach by car or public transport, with the majestic highlands and the rural Scottish Borders perfectly feasible for day trips.
