About Samantha Bollen
I have lived in Skipton for nearly 30 years and love the town and surrounding Dales. Having worked as a nurse and midwife I gave up the profession to raise our 3 boys William, Edward and George. In 2008 after a long planning struggle I opened the Victorian wash house which is situated in our back garden , as an antique shop. Having traded for 9 good years I decided it was time for a change. Recognising that people love to stay in the town I decided to convert the building into a holiday let.
Samantha Bollen purchased this Cottage in 2008
Why Samantha Bollen chose Skipton
The property is unique within the town centre as it is unusually large for a Victorian terrace wash house. It has had a varied social history since 1855 and exudes charm with its flagged floor and trussed roof. I have tried to enhance these features in a quirky traditional way while providing the modern home comforts
What makes this Cottage unique
Its greatest benefit is its location right in the town centre in a mixed friendly terrace. As we live in the main property, we are on hand should you require us.

Amazing Few Days In Skipton.
Me & my wife loved our stay in the Wash House. Great features through and ideal location for exploring the wonderful Skipton. Would highly recommended and most definitely will be back for another visit. Thanks again for a great few days.
Great 2-day break
The Wash House was everything we had hoped for and more. It is every centrally based in Skipton. Every little detail has been well thought out, and the furnishings were very comfortable We will definitely come again.
Ideally situated and perfect in every way
The wash house is unique and the interior is quirky , welcoming and cosy with every modern amenity required , makes for a perfect stay. We will definatly return .
One of the Best!
There’s a reason Samantha and John’s place gets such high ratings. The place is darn near perfect. The design, the location, the care of the owners, all made for a wonderful stay. There is often some unpleasant surprise with short term rentals. Not here. It will not disappoint. Thank you so much! I’ll be back.(Loved Skipton...the M&S food market around the corner, the Bistro, the convenience of bus & train connections)
We were made up with the Wash House, spotlessly clean, great location and loved the quirky decor, much more comfortable than a hotel and well equipped. Would definitely use this cottage again, already recommended to family & friends.
The Wash House is a small cozy wonderfully eclectic gem of a find. It's a very short walk into the centre of Skipton with a good selections of restaurants. It's a busy town with a regular market and lots of independent shops for those that want something other than the national chain stores. The Wash House is beautifully fitted out and lots of thought has gone into everything from the decor to the little rubber foot that stops the fridge door bumping against the cooker.
I wish we could have stayed longer and would thoroughly recommend that this should be your first choice for staying in Yorkshire.
