A home from home

We booked for a week, it fulfilled our expectations completely. Quiet ( no road sound, just chaffinches) comfortable and within 100m of Loe Beach. A lovely Cornish goodie pack was most welcome as was Loe Beach cafe and the yummy food there. We hired dinghies from Loe Beach water sports and ferried all over the place. It’s a beautiful spot.

What an amazing place to stay so peaceful there is no traffic noise. The cafe is lovely, had great fish and chips with the fish bought fresh that day from Newlyn.

The accommodation has everything you need and the deck is a great place to sit, with sun on it all day morning from morning to evening and if it's a bit breezy you can snuggle down on the lawn out of the wind, great place to nap in the sunshine.

We will come back, a great little bolt hole.

Room with a View

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely five day stay at this delightful studio which is in a perfect location with wonderful sky and estuary views from the bedroom and lounge. It is perfectly adequate for two people with easy access to the beach. The owner was very helpful and asked whether there was anything we needed which she could offer.

Very attractively decorated with nice warm bedding during the brief cold spell that we had whilst we were there in November.

Thank you for a lovely stay.

Comfy and quiet.

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely week here in this small ex artist studio. Jane, the owner, has restored it into a peaceful & cosy holiday let for two. She lives adjacent in the farm house & is friendly & helpful, but not intrusive. She & her partner also run the beach cafe where they have fish & chip night on Fridays. Worth booking before you arrive! The studio is also dog friendly.

A very good location for exploring this area of Cornwall.

Only suggestion for improvement, & this is not meant as a criticism, is it would be nice if the grassed area could be fenced off so dogs don't have to be kept on a lead.

Owner's Response: Dear Robert, Thankyou for your lovely review! We were glad to hear that you had a good break here. We love the cosy-ness and quiet too-it's addictive! Unfortunately we are not able to offer an enclosed garden area for dogs due to accessing and maintainance, But we hope that vistors and canine friends are able to enjoy ambling in the little garden area together! Thanks again for the lovely review, We hope to see you again! Kind Regards

Loe Beach is situated between Truro and Falmouth and provides a wonderful safe environment to practice, or learn, all the basics of boat handling, from hiring motor boats or stand up paddle boards to lesson in sailing and windsurfing. Alongside the watersports centre is the bustling Loe Beach Cafe - perfect for a lunch, sandwich, ice cream or coffee. A couple of miles inland, in Penelewey is the very successful Punchbowl and Ladle, one of St Austell Ales' pubs and the food here is stunning and well worth a visit!

A short trip across the King Harry Ferry takes you onto the Roseland Peninsula and the tiny tranquil Cornish village of Philleigh. Famous for its sixteenth century pub, The Roseland Inn. Philleigh is ideally located for exploring the countryside of the Roseland Peninsula whilst only a ten minute drive from the superb beaches around Portscatho & Carne. The D-Day embarkation points at Turnaware Point and Smugglers Cottage are within a short drive.

The Cathedral City of Truro is in the heart of Cornwall and offers a wealth of facilities for the visitor. Dominated by the stunning cathedral, it is one of the south west's most attractive cities. Lemon Quay plays host to many events throughout the year including the Cornwall Food & Drink Festival in the Autumn and the famous Truro Fatstock Show just before Christmas. Regular farmers markets occur every Wednesdays & Saturday and there are also arts & craft markets on Saturdays. There is a wonderful range of shopping for the visitor including all the regular high street stores in addition to Marks & Spencer, Tescos & Sainsburys, but also a wide range of more specialist stores. It really is worth a wander through the back streets and alleys to find some fabulous little boutiques. Truro has a superb range of restaurants from Bustophers & Mannings on Lemon Street to the always popular Pizza Express. There are lively bars, pubs & nightclubs including the Old Ale House, a busy Wetherspoons and the infamous L2 if you are so inclined!

Falmouth is one of Cornwall's most popular places to visit because of its unique mix of attractions, water sports, beaches, history and places to eat. The National Maritime Museum Cornwall and Pendennis Castle are both high on visitors' lists of places to visit and the views from Pendennis on a fine day are truly magical. Falmouth is the sailing capital of Cornwall with its spectacular deep water natural harbour offering a haven for both cruisers and racers. Many events are held through the summer culminating in the famous Falmouth Regatta Week and associated shoreside events. The beaches at Gyllyngvase & Swanpool are coarse sand and are wonderfully sunny south facing spots. You can ride the ferry to beautiful St Mawes for the day or take a delightful trip around the estuary stopping off at Trelissick Gardens for coffee, lunch or tea. There are plenty of places to eat & drink in Falmouth including Rick Stein's Fish & Chip Restaurant & Oyster Bar at Discovery Quay which adds to the superb mix across the town.
