About the property

Lush apartment renovated for the owner of the house

Haus Johanneshof built in 1604 is one of the oldest houses in Stubenbach, Lech. Not that you’d know, light and airy with a fabulous position and great views looking over the Lech valley and river.

Stubenbach adjoins Lech, it’s connected by a free bus which runs every 10 mins, takes just a few minutes, and to be honest, it’s actually a lot more convenient than a lot of locations in Lech, you step out of the ski room to the bus and can get off at the Schlosskopf, Schleglkopf or Rufikopf lifts or the gondela to Oberlech, you have absolutely no distance to walk – unless you want to. It really makes the logistics of skiing, particularly with kids, a walk in the park.

However, if you choose to walk (preferably without ski boots on) in 20 mins you can be in the centre of Lech enjoying a little tipple on the balcony of Lech’s famous Strolz department store – life doesn’t get better.

As we’re surrounded by countryside, there are a number of walking paths mowed into the snow around Stubenbach, it’s under the treeline and simply stunning, it’s lovely to feel close to nature and away from the crowds. If you like we can even order you raw milk and organic beef from the farmer opposite.

You needn’t worry the kids can play safely outside, in what’s the horse paddock during the summer, next to the house.

As well being a 10 second walk to the bus stop it’s the same distance to the local bar/restaurant, where you can experience traditional Austrian cooking either in or out, as we’ve arranged for them to deliver to your apartment so that can enjoy good food in the comfort of your own space, Kase spatzle is my favourite comfort food after a hard day on the piste.

All of the apartments have modern, tasteful bathroooms, comfortable beds (the sofa beds are the same quality mattresses as the regular beds) and all the mod cons that you’d expect in the kitchen. Each apartment comes with a parking space, if you’d like to leave your car in the heated car park in Lech blah blah

We want you to feel at home and we’re offering a number of additional services to help make your stay even more perfect:

- Fresh bread from the local bakery delivered each morning – just let us know at the beginning of the week what your preferences are – I love the minifinshca which is a dark, moist bread with a delicious caraway and nutty flavour.

- Shopping service. Why waste valuable holiday time and energy going round the supermarket, when we can do it for you, simply send us a list of your requirements, allowing us a little leeway, and when you arrive your fridge and larder will be stocked for your holiday.

- Ski companion – are you new to Lech, just want to get on with skiing or maybe you like to take it easier than the rest of your party and get fed up with feeling like you’re holding them back?

We’d love to show you around the ski area. During high season please let us know well in advance.

-We’ve been here for years and know all of the best places to eat and what activities are available, if you have something special in mind that you’d like us to take care of we’re always here for you.

- Your apartment will be lovely and shiny on arrival if you’d like additional cleans during your stay just inform us when booking.

- Lech is a very child friendly resort, if your little ones are too young to try skiing or the ski kindergarten, the babysitting service is excellent, just let us know what service you’d like and it will be done.

- We accept pets, but please don’t leave your pets unattended, we don’t want to disturb our other guests with lonely barking dogs. We can organise a dog sitter/walking service for you whilst you’re out.

- Special occasion? Do you need a birthday cake or help shopping for a special person? A horse drawn sleigh ride to a remote, romantic restaurant, will be a magical unforgettable evening.

Getting to and from Lech is not so difficult, it’s easily reached from:

We are both from Northampton, England and quit the rat race and moved away about 8 years ago, we spend our winters here in Austria as we are both keen skiers and the rest of the year in Portugal or travelling. We live just over the road from Johanneshof 1604, if you have any difficulties we're always at hand.

Why Maria Addison chose Lech

We are helping a friend rent Johanneshof 1604, it's a lovely house that we wanted to help make available for people to experience wonderful holidays.

What makes this apartment unique

Johanneshof 1604 is very old, but due to an amazing renovation in 2005 is immaculate inside, you will not find a squeaky floor board anywhere. Flexible bookings a minimum of 3 nights and not tied from Saturday to Saturday (as you will find most other places to be). Lovely warm apartments (you control the heat) and super spacious. You can go your own way, you don’t have to eat a seven course meal every night, like many of the hotels in Lech, and say no to the sky high hotel bar prices. We’re looking forward to meeting you.

We are situated next to the bus stop (free buses) that will take you in under 5 mins to 3 different lifts, one, which will take you to the top of the Rufikopf and then you ski down to Zurs and if you like on to Stuben and then St Anton, if your legs can take it. and the other 2 are for Lech, Warth and Schrocken skiing.

Since the new lift to St Anton opened last season it has become a massive ski area.

Getting around is very well organised here and the whole resort is very slick (heated lift seats, etc)
