About Jan Dupree
We live and love Brighton. This house was our family home for many happy years with our children. We still live nearby in this great area. I have a passion for doing up property and get to try out lots of ideas for holiday houses. This one has our kitchen table sawn in 2 to make the breakfast bar and a whole chalk board wall. I spend my spare time swimming in the sea , running and cycling. Brighton is a great place to do this sandwiched between the sea and the South downs.

Enjoyable stay in an quirky terraced house
We enjoyed our week staying at 83, Whichelo Place. The house was very clean comfortable and the view from the attic windows enabled us to watch a fox and her cubs playing on the covered reservoir whilst enjoying the views and sunsets. The Hanover area had a local bakery, buthchers, and deli, as well as many local pubs, all doing nice food and all dog friendly. Our favourites were The Independent and The Geese.
The only downside was parking, but that is a problem all over Brighton and Hove. The zoned areas are difficult to work out but the owners were very helpful. As we did not need to use our car for 5 days of our stay we were able to purchase daily visitor's permits.
We were able to walk to Hove and found plenty of parks to allow our dog some off lead exercise. You just need to be aware that most of the hills are very steep! If you prebook a taxi they will allow dogs if you request a dog friendly car - useful when it rains and you are stuck in Hove!
It is also worth paying a visit to the South Downs National Park and exploring part of the South Downs Way for some amazing walks and scenery.
Great house and location. Host was so helpful. Thanks.
Thank you so much for a great stay. Hope to be back!
Little house full of atmosphere & charm!
We really enjoyed the charm & atmosphere of this quirky house. The only downside for us was there's only 1 toilet...so for our family of 6 it meant some squabbles at the bathroom door:-) but other than that, we enjoyed this house & Brighton very much!
Perfect home base to explore Brighton
My family (two adults and two children, ages 3 and 7) stayed here for a month this summer. The owners are delightful to deal with and very helpful. The house was perfectly cosy with comfortable beds and plenty of space! It was clean and the owners provided plenty of linens. The views from the back bedrooms over Brighton and the Downs are spectacular. The house is perfectly located to explore all parts of Brighton, and we really appreciated being so close to the Level, which has an excellent playground! There is another great playground within walking distance at Queens Park. There is a wonderful bakery (The Flour Pot Bakery) only a short walk away, along with two convenience stores for the essentials, and some excellent pubs. We particularly enjoyed The Hanover and The Constant Service. We also liked getting breakfast at the Elm Grove Cafe. We walked to the seafront almost every day. It is an uphill walk back to the house, but we didn't mind. The kitchen was well equipped for us to make basic meals, although it has a small fridge. The house is decorated in a very cute style and it is really a very cosy and comfortable place. My youngest liked to draw on the chalk board in the kitchen and to sit outside in the small space out back to have her breakfast in the morning. We would highly recommend this house for families especially! I hope that we can come back soon.
It was such a pleasure to meet you all! I do hope you come back and stay!
Perfect Xmas Home Away From Home
Myself and 2 friends stayed here for 3 weeks, whilst working at the theatre. It was right over xmas and new year, so it was important for us to have a nice place to stay. It was just what we needed. Clean, homely, quiet and a short walk to the main city centre with all the shops and restaurants, and importantly for us- the theatre!! Jan was a pleasure to deal with from start to finish. Would definitely stay here again.
Thank you for your lovely comments! It was a pleasure to host you and you would be most welcome any time
Amazing holiday home!! Great location 5*
What a fantastic place. You can tell a lot of love has gone into the design and furnishing. We had a brilliant weekend, close to great pubs and a short walk from the centre of town. I will 100% be staying here again. Thanks guys
I look forward to welcoming you again!!
Great local area of colourful houses. Quiet for sleeping but easily walkable to all the fun Brighton has to offer. Great local amenities
