Voted a top 50 European Rental Villa by the Sunday Times Travel section.
This outstanding old stone house renovation seamlessly mixes original stone wall features with a contemporary living space. Its outstanding feature is its enormous atrium living/dining/kitchen area with massive open fireplace and bar area. It also has four double bedrooms, a huge main bathroom, an upstairs shower room and downstairs w-c as well as a mezzanine space and games room with classic bar 'pool' table.
It's situated in the tiny village of Roo in the coastal area of Ria de Muros y Noia. The Ria winds its way inland for 40km, harbouring pristine white sandy beaches occupied only by the locals before and after siestas. The villa is blessed with fantastic countryside views and is a five minute drive to the local beach. It has a huge garden space, which has three levels; a BBQ area, a private 10m x 5m pool and a 'games' area for boules and the like. The night lighting in the garden completes the magical appearance of this wonderful villa.

About Maria Moreno Lamas
Originally from The South East of England - we moved to Galicia in 2005 in search of an affordable renovation project - Maria had family here and at the time there were plenty of opportunities - great old stone houses that had fallen in to disrepair. The original idea was to renovate and sell and return to the UK - but I fell in love with the Ría de Muros y Noia - a spectacular and unique coastal estuary lined with incredible white-sandy beaches and we are still here! We now spend our time renovating properties for other people.
Maria Moreno Lamas purchased this Villa in 2006
Why Maria Moreno Lamas chose Outes
Casa Piloto was left unused for 30 years after a house fire - our dog actually found the property - it was completely overgrown but still, despite the neglect, its stonewalls protected its structure. It had wonderful potential and enormous spaces to work with combined with beautiful valley views and easy access to the Ría. It became a real labour of love!
What makes this Villa unique
Location, location, location! The Rìa de Muros y Noia remains one of the few undeveloped regions in Spain - its original, authentic and life goes on here as it has for generations. The proximity of Casa Piloto to the beaches and the stunning forest and mountain scenery set it apart and give it a unique serenity, it's a place to breath deeply and enjoy nature at its best, a place to unwind and get back in tune with yourself.

A wonderful surprise!
This was our first time to holiday as a family in Northern Spain - and what a wonderful surprise it was for us. We're a family of 6 with 4 teenagers - the scenery in Galicia was so different from what we are used to in Spain - big green forests and the most and I mean the most amazing beaches we have ever seen! Such white sands - incredible - even if the water was a little chilly - the sunshine was gorgeous hovering around 28 to 32 degrees and it always easy to sleep at night. The house was an absolute pleasure and the warm salt water swimming pool family favourite. A great holiday with great hosts. We will be back!
Thank you Sandra - we're glad you had so much fun - you and your lovely family are welcome back anytime!
A relaxing, refreshing revitalising holiday!
We have been to the South of Spain many times with our family and this was our first time to the North of Spain and in Galicia - and what a pleasant surprise it was.
Firstly I must say what a wonderful holiday house the owners have made at Casa Piloto - it is enormous but cozy with breath-taking views. You can see the passion the owners have put into the renovation -we loved staying here - it felt like our own home from home. Just lovely. We even used the pool in June and were blessed with great weather.
But it is the beaches in Galicia that amazed me the most - such white sands, so empty, such a beautiful coastline. It was undoubtedly the most relaxing, refreshing revitalising holiday that I can remember. We will be back!
Thank you John,
That is a lovely review and much appreciated - we hope to see you again!
The perfect getaway
I have had the pleasure of staying in this beautiful villa and experiencing Rupert and Maria's hospitality a couple of times, in summer and winter. The house is perfect no matter what the season. In summer the beautifully kept gardens and swimming pool provide amazing views across the countryside, and the house provides cool respite when you need it. In winter you can enjoy those same views from the huge picture window in the living room with the massive fireplace roaring away to keep you warm. At the same time the rest of the house is kept toasty with under floor heating.
The house itself is a unique blend of modern design and traditional building materials and techniques. The attention to detail in the design is meticulous, giving the place a sense of luxury, care, comfort and homeliness all at the same time. The huge two storey high open space which combines living room and kitchen is the heart of the property for me. The master bathroom is also a masterpiece of design with it's huge bath, and the games room complete with pool table keeps you happy when you've had enough of the outdoor pool.
Rupert and Maria are excellent hosts from the first communication to departure. They will do whatever they can to make your stay comfortable, and deal quickly and effectively with the small issues that will inevitably arise with a country property. They will recommend restaurants, beaches, day trips, activities etc, but there is so much to explore in beautiful Galicia you can hardly fail to find little gems yourself. You can literally walk out the back door into wonderful woodland and climb the hill behind the property to get breathtaking views across the sea. Then for lunch walk down to the village to the O Peto restaurant which never disappoints. If you feel the need to get in the car, then sparsely populated white sand beaches, amazing seafood restaurants and attractive seaside towns await.
Whether for a family holiday or a quiet solo getaway Casa Piloto will deliver. I highly recommend it.
Well I do know who submitted this review - even if you have remained anonymous! Thank you kindly Señor Bootrill - we like nothing more than happy guests who come back to us no matter the season. We hope the next time you need that break you will think of us again - your casa awaits! Best wishes R&M
A stunning retreat and the perfect place to relax
a stunning house in a stunning location. It really is the perfect retreat set in a small village with fantastic views. The locals are friendly with local shops providing really good local produce. The Sandy beaches are a short drive away and you are guaranteed plenty of space to pitch up and enjoy the sand, sea and surf....highly recommended.
Thank you Mr Sanchez - it was a pleasure having you and your beautiful family come stay with us - we're glad it ticked all the boxes - a bit like the FA Cup final we chatted about! Happy Holidays! R&M
Wonderful Holiday Home with Exquisite Views
Our Family and Friends had a Lovely Stay at this Grand Galician Villa which is only 5 mins drive away from the nearest Beach. It has Great amenities in the Villa and plenty for the kids to do.The Weather was great in September and we really made use of the Pool as well.Thank you to our Hosts for making our Holiday a memorable one,and we highly recommend anyone to stay here and experience it for themselves.
A Galician wonder
As I mounted the grass steps and rounded the corner towards the entrance my heart burst with delight at the magical scene that greeted...lush vegetation framing twin spires of a neighbouring church in a singular manner that was at once disorientating ( seeming so South American) and wondrous...and so it began, a five day experience of a fascinating house and garden nestled in a curious village on real deal strip of Galicia that just kept giving...the dawn chorus, fulsome babble of nearby river (although not quite what it seems on inspection!) gorgeous beaches at Carnota, fantastic dining at Muros...house is great especially for hide and seek!! Definitely recommend it
This renovated Grand old stone Villa sits in the forests beside the amazing Ria de Muros and Noia. Just 3kms from the pristine, white sandy beaches of the Ria. The two small towns of Noia and Muros are nearby for evening strolls, meals and fiestas. The historic city of Santiago de Compostela is just a 30minute drive away. Mountain hiking, swimming, horse riding, go-karting, tennis and golfing activities are all within an easy drive from the villa. But, its own private pool, BBQ area, private boules area and stunning views interrupted only by the sounds of the river and sightings of eagles may well persuade you to stay at the villa for the duration of your stay! Other nearby Activities: Go Karting
