The Watch House is a quirky 4 bedroom property brimming with character that enjoys the most fabulous views across the ever changing waterways of Salcombe and the open sea beyond. Tucked away in an enviable waterside position with its own landing platform and direct access to the foreshore you wouldn’t even know it was here!

The entrance hall to The Watch House has stairs leading both up to the first and second floors and down to the lower ground floor.
On this floor is the kitchen/breakfast room which has a triple aspect outlook giving the most spectacular panoramic views out across the Salcombe estuary. Equipped with ample cupboards, ceramic hob, built-in electric oven, fridge, freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, table and chairs the kitchen is a great place to be!
The dining room is also on this floor enjoying those spectacular waterfront views.Stairs lead down to the lower ground floor where the living room also offers exceptional views that can be enjoyed from all angles. This room is comfortably furnished and houses the television complete with DVD player. There is an open gas fireplace and French doors that lead out onto the wooden landing platform above the water with steps leading down to the foreshore. At high tide the water is right below the window. A small inflatable could be stored here on the landing stage.
On the first floor is a small landing from which you can access the three bedrooms and the family shower room. The largest of the three bedrooms is furnished with a king size bed positioned to absorb the views through the French doors that lead out onto a private wooden balcony.
There is a bunk room on this floor as well as a single bedroom furnished with a cabin bed. This room is affectionately referred to as 'The Captain's Room' by the owners and is really loved by guests of all ages.
Up again to the top floor where you will find the master bedroom complete with modern en suite bathroom. This light and spacious room has possibly the best views in the house with an outstanding panoramic vista up and down the river.
The Watch House is named so because it is thought to have been the coastguards' ‘look out’ for the town. With amazing views up the estuary, across the water and out to sea it was the perfect location for the coastguard to live. It’s character and position make it iconic for the locality. It is one of the very few properties in Salcombe that has direct water access via a landing platform.
Please note that due to the proximity of the water young children should be supervised at all times. Also all the stairs are open with no balustrades and are quite narrow and steep.
In common with many properties in Salcombe the Watch House does not have any parking. Parking is available in the long term stay car park at Batson and it is usually possible to park in some of the roads at the top of the town.

Nestled in the far south of Devon, Salcombe is a hidden treasure. It is a bustling harbour town in the summer and a sleepy retreat in the winter. It’s location is second to none, surrounded on all sides by the most exquisite coastline and countryside. Those who know it – sailors, walkers, beach lovers and bird watchers are drawn back time and again. But the area remains beautifully unspoilt… and Salcombe retains its timeless, distinctive charm. Located at the most southerly tip of Devon, surrounded by picturesque villages, magnificent coastal scenery and stunning beaches, Salcombe is a wonderful holiday destination for visitors of all ages. From the sweeping golden sands of Thurlestone, golden sands of Bantham and sheltered coves of South Sands & Hope Cove the area boasts a beach for everyone. Or if retail therapy and sampling gastronomic delights are more your thing, then Salcombe’s town centre is full of quirky shops and the pubs and restaurants serve delicious fresh fish landed daily on the quayside and other local produce. The location of the town is ideal for exploring the very special South West Coast Path with its rugged terrain, secret coves and spectacular views. The South West Coast Path itself is 630 miles long and is the longest National Trail in the country. It was originally created by coastguards, patrolling the south west peninsula looking out for smugglers. They literally had to check in every inlet so their cliff top walk was well used and gives us the amazing Path we use today.
