Why Fox Daniels chose San Lawrenz
My home is a high end 17th century farmhouse located on the edge of the historic village of San Lawrenz in Gozo with breathtaking open sea views. You’ll love my home because of the unique artistic conversion and attention to detail. I provide top quality linens tableware and a welcome hamper to ensure your experience of a boutique farmhouse. Inspired by the famous Harry Potter books, this is a home of colour, whimsy and joy, where holiday memories are made and never fade. Fully licenced by the Maltese Tourist Authority number HPIG0245. Gozo means “joy” and is believed by many to be Homer’s Isle of Calypso where the sea nymph held Odysseus spellbound for seven years. What better place for a romantic holiday! I provide a sumptuous welcome hamper filled with goodies and all the breakfast ingredients to start your holiday in a relaxed mode. Upon request : daily cleaning, a private chef and babysitting can be provided. I am a gay friendly LGTB friendly host :)

A lovely villa for the family
Diagon Alley was a lovely Villa with lots of space, great facilities and a spectacular view of the sunset of an evening, not to mention sitting stargazing on the roof terrace.
The villa felt homely and was a great place to stop whilst we toured around Gozo.
Stay in Diagon Alley August 2019
We had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay in Diagon Alley. It was charming and eccentric with plenty of space for 8. Many different spaces both indoors and out to relax in. The roof terrace had a wonderful breeze most of the time taking the edge off the heat. The owner, Fox, was always extremely quick to respond to any queries and her contacts on the island meant that a late decision to make exploring easier with a hire car was really quickly and efficiently organised. The village was easily accessible on foot making food buying easy and also eating out. We also found good swimming and snorkelling nearby and would highly recommend Ted’s Enjoyable Boat trip out of Xlendi which is a short car ride away and was yes - enjoyable! Altogether a most successful holiday for us all.
Thank you Jane for your kind review and for being such briliant guests!
Beautiful location and villa
Had a fantastic holiday at Diagon Alley in Gozo. Fox was so helpful and the villa was beautiful, comfortable and even better than the pictures! San Lawrenz was a very pretty village and everything was very easy to get to. Would recommend a hire car, as although public transport is good, it was so easy to jump in the car at any time and go off the beaten track. We used Frank's Garage for hire car and transfer to/from airport as recommended by Fox, and they were brilliant.
The Inland Sea and Blue Hole were beautiful - go first thing in the morning to escape the crowds and get some shade. Ramla Bay was also lovely and the craft village just down the road from the villa is definitely worth a visit. We mostly ate at the villa on the lovely breezy top terrace. The sunsets were gorgeous and then when it was dark, the stargazing was breathtaking. A couple of our group even slept on the roof terrace one night!
Would thoroughly recommend Diagon Alley as a perfect venue for a lovely holiday.
Thank you SO much for your kind words Allison and for taking the time. I’m so pleased you have made some great memories here with us. You were terrific guests and we would be delighted to welcome you again anytime! Fox & Paul
Relaxing, lovely stay in charming villa right on the coast of Gozo island.
The villa was lovely with lots of charming character. The view from terrace and rooftop patio cannot be beat. Everything was very clean and kitchen was fully equipped for preparing meals (note -bring your own condiments). Fox was very responsive with any questions we had and left a thoughtful breakfast basket for us so we had all that we needed for our first breakfast. A few things to note: 1- make sure to ask about all switches that work hot water and heater/ac units to ensure you know how everything functions. Once this is clear your stay will be very comfortable. 2 - the villa has three charming bedrooms. The fourth bedroom we did not use as it’s right off the grotto pool so not suitable for children, does not have a bathroom close by and felt a little dark and damp. Perhaps it would be a more comfortable room in the summer (we stayed in February). 3- we found the additional electricity cost expensive. For three nights and modest use of heaters it ran us just under $100 euro given Malta’s very high cost of electricity. It would likely be cheaper in the warmer months. Overall we very much enjoyed our stay and would return if the opportunity arises.
A beautifully restored home away from home
Diagon Alley provided us with a wonderful place to stay during our recent holiday in Gozo. The house has been beautifully designed and meticulously restored with each room themed around Harry Potter. We loved the open spaces at the heart of the old house that enabled us to relax outside, while at the same time retaining easy access to the kitchen, sitting room, bedrooms and pool. Situated on the edge of San Lawrenz, every night was blissfully quiet and the low levels of light pollution enabled us to relax on the sun loungers on the top terrace and watch the stars, planets and even the occasional meteor. The trail down from the village to the Inland Sea, the Blue Hole and the remains of the Azure Window goes right past the house, so we didn’t even have to take the car down to the beach, if we didn’t want to. Local snorkelling was good, particularly in the Inland Sea in the morning, before the crowds arrived. Gozo is quite a small island, so nothing is very far away; even the ferry crossing presented very few problems. The view from the beautifully restored Ċittadella in Vittorija presents a good opportunity to get your bearings. We went right at the end of the week, but wished we’d gone sooner. By car, you can get to Vittorija from Diagon Alley in ten minutes or so. You go by the Gozo Crafts Village on the way which is another nice local attraction. A beautiful home away from home in a beautiful place. And Fox could not have been more friendly, welcoming and supportive throughout our stay. Thanks for everything and hope to see you in Gozo again sometime. One of our daughters wants to move to Gozo after this!
Amazing review Steve, you really understood Gozo and how different our pace of life is out here! We look forward to seeing you return! Fox
Cosy, homely, comfortable, warm, clean, friendly Farmhouse.
A week with six people (3 adults, 3 children) plenty of space, high quality utensils, furniture, great views, EASY PARKING, lovey village, location 10/10.Very very quiet. Washing machine, dishwasher, cable tv, WiFi, Air conditioning, ideal for 3 couple as all beds were doubles with en-suite, plus another bed room, ample room in master bedroom for cot/pull out/plus two singles. Plenty of (personnel) space for each person. DO check out the SUNSET from the terrace!
It was delightful to having you staying with us Adrian. You understand Gozo and that is what makes a holiday special out here! I hope to see you and Heidi again one fine day!
The most stunning scenery of the island of Gozo we have h(b)iking trails staring at the end of the alley. Wied-il-Merril down to famous Dweijra indoor sea, Wiel-il-Millah with "the second window", the lighthouse valley and the San Dimitri chappel valley are all easy walking distance away.
The oldest to man known temple of Gigantija is in the nearby village of Xagra. Gozo means “joy” and is believed by many to be Homer’s Isle of Calypso where the sea nymph held Odysseus spellbound for seven years. What better place for a romantic holiday!
