The year 2018 is our first season at Lachtal and everything in the chalet still smells of fresh wood. In winter, Veselý Svišť Chalet offers skiers the ideal accommodation in Lachtal directly at the blue 1a ski slope. The chalet is very comfortable especially for families with children, because there is no need for daily commuting by car - you can put on your skis right at the chalet and conveniently ski down to the modern 6-seater chairlift station. In spring, summer and autumn, Lachtal is a great place for a family holiday in the Alps. In addition to the easy ridge hikes, you can go with the children to the generous rope park or the many beautiful outdoor swimming pools and other attractions in the Murtal Valley region. If you bring bikes, we recommend taking a nice trip along the Mur Cycling Path.
The Veselý Svišť Chalet in Lachtal can offer accommodation for 2 families or a group of up to 8 friends. On the ground floor of the chalet there is an open modern kitchen with a large dining table, a living area with 2 sofas as well as a TV with a DVD player, free WIFI. The pleasant atmosphere is enhanced by the wood burning stove in the middle of the room, so you can have breakfast or dine with radiant heat behind your back. There is access to a terrace from the kitchen with beautiful mountain views. On the terrace there is a table with benches and we prepare the grill for pleasant outdoor dining in the summer. On the ground floor there is also a bathroom with a shower and toilet, a hall with a boot drying rack and a ski storage room with a separate entrance from the outside. Upstairs there are two 4-bed rooms for sleeping and a second bathroom with a bath and toilet. In addition to the wood burning stove, there is modern electric infrared heating in the cottage with the possibility of controlling each heating panel separately. The hot water is heated by an electric boiler. In front of the cottage, there are 4 parking spaces reserved for your comfortable unloading and loading, where you can park your car free of charge for the duration of your stay.
• 4-bed room with a large “quadruple” bed (4 mattresses, total width 360 cm)
• 4-bed room with a double bed, 2 single beds and a balcony
A 5-member family with smaller children can also fit in the room with a large “quadruple” bed. If you bring a baby travel cot, you can place it in any room. If there are more than 8 persons in your party and you can’t fit into the chalet, take a look at our cottage in Hohentauern, which can accommodate up to 12 people.
Kitchen Facilities: The kitchen is equipped with modern AEG and Bosch appliances. You can use a 4-hot plate induction cook top, an electric oven, microwave, kettle, Tchibo capsule coffee machine, refrigerator with a freezer and a dishwasher.

SPRING, SUMMER, AUTUMN Veselý Svišť Chalet is a great starting point for various walks and hikes in the surrounding mountains due to its high position at 1,680 meters. The main Lachtal ridge is a comfortable walk which you can reach in half an hour and the closest peak Hoher Zinken (2,222 m) is easily accessible even with children. During the summer season, the main chairlift is also sometimes open during the week. Whoever walks along the ridge to the Steineck peak or to the prominent peak Großhansl (2,315 m), will enjoy wandering the deserted grassy mountains without roads like somewhere in the Carpathians. A beautiful alpine hike is the climb around the scenic Fischsee lake to the dominant peak of Hohenwart (2,363 m). From the top you can descend to the valley on the other side and enjoy a nice all-day hike. In the mountains around Lachtal there are many traditional mountain huts where you can taste various Styrian specialties. Besides mountain tours, the Murtal region offers a host of attractions and trip destinations. Children will certainly appreciate the visit to the magnificent rope center in the historic town of Oberwölz, where there are 10 routes of varying difficulty, including those for the youngest. The total length of the ropes is nearly 3 km and there are plenty of funny Flying foxes. Next to the rope center you will find a nice outdoor swimming pool. Another interesting destination is the historic town of Murau, from where regular steam trains travel to Tamsweg in the summer. In addition, you can visit the Schwarzenberg Castle and the Murauer Brewery there. In inclimate weather, the thermal pools in the Aqua Therme Fohnsdorf, the historic tunnels of the Oberzeiring silver mine, the museum of old Alpine musical instruments, or the modern and fun-filled St. Ruprecht Wood Museum will be a pleasant diversion. For cyclists, there are several very nice cycling trails nearby. In particular, we recommend the bike trail along the Mur River, which is largely flat and can be enjoyed even with children. In addition, a train runs along the narrow gauge trail through the Murtal valley, which takes you and your bikes back to the car. This cycle route, including a section in the territory of Slovenia and Croatia, measures a total of 457 km and a multi-day cycling trip can be done along it. Another option in the spring and summer is rafting down the Mur River. In the Tamsweg sports section with a WW II-III level of difficulty you will enjoy true alpine wild water, under Predlitz, the Mur gradually calms down and there are several sections for a relaxing summer boat ride with children. The advantage is that there is plenty of water all year long, and you can use the practical narrow-gauge railway for the way back. In our chalet, you can borrow a tourist map of the area and look through official leaflets of many nearby attractions. If you wish, we will be happy to advise you personally to make the most of your stay at our chalet. WINTER Lachtal is a medium-sized ski resort (1,600 - 2,222 m) in Styria with 35 km of slopes, 10 km of ski trails in open terrain, 2 modern 6-chair lifts and 8 ski tows. The bottom station of the main cable car is set very high (1,600 m) and most of the slopes are equipped with snow guns, so you can easily ski in winters with less snow or at the beginning and end of the season. Our Veselý Svišť Chalet is located by the blue slope 1a and the nearest chairlift is just a few hundred meters away on skis. The chalet is right in the middle of the resort, so it's no problem to stop at noon for lunch or stop with the kids at any time during the day at the chalet. Lachtal also offers a nice children's ski resort for young skiers equipped with a long traveling children's carpet. Upon arrival to the main chairlift you will find a ski equipment rental. If you want to go for lunch or coffee, there are many pleasant cottages with restaurants right on the slopes in Lachtal. The nearest is Grossa Almstadl, which has a large terrace and is about 150 meters away from our chalet, so you can visit it for a beer after skiing. Alternatively, you can also go skiing to the nearby partner ski resort Kreischberg or other nearby resorts. For weekly stays, an interesting option is to ski once in the giant Ski Amadé in Schladming. It is just over an hour by car to the large car park at the Hauser Kaibling cable car. In addition to downhill skiing, Lachtal also offers a shorter, modified cross-country skiing circuit, a smaller ice rink and a 1.5 km long illuminated toboggan run from Hirzmann Alm down to Lachtal. Sledges can be rented at Café Hannes and there is one available in the chalet. The Lachtal ski resort also provides entertainment and organizes various masked runs, children's programs, and spectacular fireworks on New Year's Eve also with the involvement of snow cats. In bad weather, a visit to the thermal pools in Aqua Therme Fohnsdorf is a pleasant diversion.
