Farmhouse in Le Montechabroulet, Miallet, Nr La Coquille,

***New for 2018 - Private swimming pool for farmhouse guests as well as use of our communual pool and other onsite facilities ***

Situated in 56 acres of our own meadows and woodland. The farmhouse is set within a large private courtyard. The 200yr old stone built farmhouse is equipped with a modern touch while not losing that traditional French feel. The kitchen is hand made from using local chestnut timber, there is a six burner gas hob and double oven rangemaster cooker so the self catering can be much for enjoyable and stress free with the amount of people in your party. There is a four seater table in front of the log burner in the kitchen area for those early risers or late evenings chatting in front of the log fire. There is also a large solid oak dinning table which comfortably seats 8 people.

To the front of the farmhouse there is a terrace with outside dining, bbq and hot tub area, to the rear of the farmhouse there is an enclosed garden with private swimming pool, laid to lawn with shrubs, also great for outside dining and bbq's.

Onsite we have a 12mtr x 6mtr heated salt water comunual swimming pool with 3mtr intergrated paddling pool. Although the pool is shared with ourselves and Kinda Kamping guests ( there is a large decking and grassed area around the pool. We feel it is never overcrowded and is a great way to meet new people and friends while on holiday. The pool area is fenced to meet approved safety regulations with a number code locking system to the pool gate.

There are many onsite activities to keep everybody occupied should you wish. We have our own mountain bike trails, small fishing lake, badminton and table tennis to mention but a few.

This quiet, tranquil setting is ideal to relax and unwind and enjoy the fantastic views of the Perigord National Park and it's wildlife but within easy distance to many attractions including Limoges and Brantome (otherwise known as Little Venice), as well as beautiful safe swimming lakes, canoeing and numerous french markets, making this the ideal holiday destination for all.

We are David and Leigh Smith and together with our son Ethan we run our small holiday business in Dordogne, France.

We are very active and love doing anything outdoors, especially cycling and love being out and about enjoying the beautiful surroundings and weather.

Why Leigh Smith chose Mialet

We bought our property in September 2002 on a spur of the moment weekend trip away and we thought it was a great location for offering cycling holidays.

Since bringing up our two children and carrying out the renovations on the derelict buildings, we have come to realize what a great place this is for families to come, unwind, relax, have fun and try to live life how we used to when we were younger. Here children still have the freedom to run around and play without having to watch their every move.

We are at the end of a small hamlet therefore very in a very quiet area. (The marker on the map is not quite in the correct area, we are at the end of Le Montechabroulet)

Fabulous Farmhouse

Wow. This accommodation is outstanding. We booked online from reading reviews and they could not have been more spot on. Everything was perfect. We had 2 one year olds and a 4 year old in our party and the facilities for them were brilliant (Stairgates, highchairs, cots, plastic cutlery and plates). The farmhouse, pool and hot tub were spotless, and Leigh and Dave went out of their way to accommodate us and ensure our holiday was perfect. The pizza night is an absolute must, we all agreed it was the best pizza we had ever eaten!

I would 100% not even hesitate to return or recommend to a friend.

France cycling holiday

Beautiful French farmhouse, set in very tranquil countryside.

The accommodation is superbly refurbished & has great facilities but maintains plenty of character, I found it a very relaxing place to be.

Highly recommended for a cycling trip or to get away from the pace of everyday life completely unwind.

Amazing place

We really struggled to find a great place on the internet and we were so worried after some of the stories we had heard. We needn't have worried, I can assure you this is a home from home, 5 star in our opinion. Beautiful home, garden, space, pool, hot tub and mostly owners Leigh and Dave. You really could not ask for a more wonderful property, setting and welcome. Everything is supplied down to books, games, dvd's etc, just turn up with your clothes and enjoy.

Superb winter break

We have just returned from our first winter break in an area we know well, and visit regularly. We could not have chosen better accommodation for the crisp and chilly temperatures.

Right from the outset Leigh and Dave were as warm, welcoming and accommodating as their fabulous farmhouse turned out to be. The farmhouse was kitted out perfectly for winter – a roaring woodburner, cosy duvets and throws, electric radiators in all rooms all made the farmhouse extremely comfortable for a winter stay.

All of this, in addition to a beautiful renovation, in immaculate condition with high spec equipment throughout. From the fantastic range cooker, oak kitchen,, ensuite bathrooms and useful utility, every need is catered for which made our visit an absolute pleasure.

Looking at the fabulous swimming pool and the lovely private surroundings its clear that the farmhouse would be equally amazing in the summer.

If you are looking for French character accommodation at a luxury standard, in a fabulous area with plenty to do, you couldn’t choose better.

Something for everyone!

We had a lovely time in this beautifully restored farmhouse which has the benefits of all mod cons whilst still retaining the character of the 200 year old farmhouse that it is. Very clean, comfortable, spacious and well equipped. The farmhouse is located in a tiny hamlet with wonderful views which makes for a relaxing time if that's what you want but there are plenty of activities on offer too by the owners Leigh and Dave.....'if the kids are happy'!.... and there's a lovely large pool which although heated we weren't brave enough to dive into in April! Not too far away are the pretty old villages of Brantome and Bourdeilles and some lovely lakes with beaches for bathing which are all well worth visiting.. Friday is market day in Brantome. All in all a perfect holiday....thank you Leigh and Dave!

Special interest holidays:

This area is very very popular with cyclists, whether you mountain bike or road cycle.

For mountain bikers there are kilometres of off road tracks, passing chateaux, lakes, rivers and fantastic scenery.

For the road cyclist, these quiet, undulating road make road cycling safe and a pleasure to ride, passing through many typical French villages, lakes, rivers and again the views are breathtaking.

Ideal for the family, in Miallet we have a barrage (man made dam), suitable for cycling or walking, this is off road so no worrying about traffic, making it safer for the children. A little further afield we have a modified disused railway track again very popular for families to cycle or walk as it is traffic free.


Although this is a rural location there are many lakes locally with beautiful man made beaches, many have diving platforms, canoes, pedaloes, cafes, toilet facilities and are life guarded during summer months.


Nearest airport - Limoges Airport, 38km (approx 45mins drive) where Ryanair fly from Stansted, East Midlands and Liverpool, Manchester, Bristol. Flybe fly from Southampton.

Due to the location of the property and local attactions a car is recommended.

For driving directions - we will provide written directions on confirmed bookings.


The small village of Miallet is 4km away with a small grocery shop, bakers, butchers, post office, hairdressers, bar/restaurant, church and chemist (English Speaking).

There are larger supermarkets in La Coquille (7km) and Chalus (8km).

Local activities: tree adventure, canoeing, cycling, fishing, go karting, golf, horse riding, ice skating, mountain biking, swimming, tennis, theme parks, walking, wine tasting, velorail, zoo park, many beautiful lakes with beach areas and life guarded in summer months, good restaurants/auberges and traditional markets.

Brantome: known as Little Venice, a historic medieval market town, where the River Dronne surround the towns. With its boutiques, restaurants, cafes and bars where you can relax and watch the activities on the rivers. Every Friday morning there is a market. Canoeing is very popular here. Well recommended for a visit.

Limoges: situated on the riverside of the Vienne, with original settlements that date back to roman times, the city is well known for it's fine porcelain and painted enamelware, cultural activities and botanical gardens. The city has celebrated it's 2000th anniversary and is rich in cultural history with many museums, symphonies and theatres. Limoges is best known for it's procelain and china developed in the 18th century out of enamel work which began in the middle ages. Visit the many shops and tour the working factories.

Occupation of the property is after 1600hrs on the start of your holiday and you must vacate the property by 1000hrs on the last day of your holiday. The facilities available for your use should you arrive early.
