About the property

Gorgeously stylish historic house in a hip-and-happening neighbourhood

Set in a quiet cobbled cul-de-sac in the heart of Green Point village, this gorgeous historic property is totally unique as it's the only house that has the charm of a walkable village lifestyle with the spectacular views of a high mountainside property. The Jewel House has undergone a total architectural restructure over the last 2 years, a real labour of love and style. Each room has an uplifting outlook: flower filled courtyards, an old church or soaring 360 views of ocean & mountain.

Originally a two story building, all the lovely historic features - high ceilings, old timber beams, oversized sash windows, exquisite wrought ironwork - have been retained and combined with super-luxury contemporary finishes throughout. Everything is brand new and the absolute finest quality.

The ground floor is airy and open plan, with a stylish kitchen/dining area, a TV nook with a wood-burning stove for those cooler evenings, and a light and airy lounge opening via huge double glazed sliding doors onto the flower-filled courtyard. The finest wide-plank oak floors run throughout, apart from the charming guest toilet and quirky scullery/laundry which have polished concrete. Outside there is a timber yoga deck, a heated Moroccan plunge pool and and seating area with fire pit, all surrounded by lush greenery and completely private.

A polished concrete staircase leads you up to the first floor, which again has high ceilings but this time in a more contemporary off-shutter concrete. The softest fitted carpeting makes this a quiet zone, with a peaceful reading area leading onto a balcony overlooking the pretty courtyard, surrounded by tumbling bougainvillea. Two equally sized luxury bedrooms with bijou bathrooms face east and look onto a lovely old church through huge sash windows, dressed in generous linen fabric.

A floating steel staircase leads up to the main bedroom, which is the piece-de-resistance of this amazing property: set in a totally private roof garden, this airy space opens up completely to the terrace, and features the most breath-taking views of everything this area has to offer. You can see Robben Eiland, the sculptural stadium, the ocean, the red-and-white striped lighthouse, Signal Hill, rows of chimney pots, the historic village, the urban entire sparkling urban landscape from your own private eyrie.

About Alison Preyer

Architectural designer and restorer of historic houses, impassioned transformer of buildings into the most beautiful living spaces, developer of out-of-the-ordinary boutique accommodation, international guest coordinator and very proudly Capetonian.

Having lived in London and traveled extensively, i am happily settled in the city of my birth and believe it is one of the best places in the world to live. Not only is Cape Town exceptionally scenic, but that beauty is so live on the beach and spend much of our spare time in or on the water, but we also run and cycle the magnificent coastal roads, hike any of the many mountain trails around the city or horse ride on long white beaches or through hilly vineyards, all without battling crowds or traffic.

When we're feeling less energetic we sit at seaside pavement cafes with a great cappuccino and a backgammon board, enjoy delicious and affordable fresh food at one of the stylish restaurants that Cape Town is so famous for, chill at a cool urban bar listening to a local band or stroll through the city on warm evenings when all the art galleries are open late. Life is fabulous are good reasons why Cape Town has again been voted Best City to visit for the 3rd year running.

I have 15 years experience in hospitality (3 properties in Cape Town and 2 in Greece) and honestly do my best to give my guests the best and happiest holiday experience. After all, I want you to come back and bring your friends and family with you!

Why Alison Preyer chose Green Point

Green Point is so hip and happening, so close to all the urban-fringe attractions like cool bars and cafes, restaurants and theatre, yet hop onto an Uber or a MyCiti bus and you'll be one one of our glorious white sand beaches, like the famous Clifton or Camps Bay, in 10 minutes. You dont need a car here, just stroll down the cobbled street to the main road and turn right for city attractions, left for the beaches or go straight ahead into the urban park, beach promenade and waterfront.

It's really the greatest location to spend your holiday!

What makes this house unique

This house is just downright beautiful. It's set in the quaintest cobbled street opposite a magnificent church with its gardens tumbling with roses, right in the heart of the historic Green Point village. Yet what is totally unique about this property is that it has the views of the mountainside houses, the ones perched high up that are less inaccessible to the delights of the area.

It's literally a 5 minute stroll down to the main road which is the connecting road between the beaches and the city, along which are such a choice of bars and restaurants there's never really a reason to go elsewhere to eat. There are gorgeous sundowners spots overlooking the ocean, hip city hangouts, top class restaurants, bars and clubs of the highest much happening, yet just up the hill The Jewel House sits serene and quiet, with no traffic noise in its quaint, narrow village streets.

Please be aware that both have one step up into the bathroom. They are both fitted with the softest, most luxurious carpets so please keep them so by removing your shoes in this area.
