We are located in a nice little French farm town called Grand-Failly near the border of Belgium and Luxembourg. The city of Verdun and the battlefields of the First World War can be reached within an hour. The cities of Metz and Luxenburg are also an hour's drive away. Our house was the house of the miller of the former oil mill from formerly rapeseed and nuts to oil processed by hydroelectric power. The house is on the edge of the village.
What you rent is a separate part of our house with its own entrance. This old house is along with the part where the mill was the oldest part of the house. You enter the kitchen which is heated with its own wood stove. In addition there is a large sitting-bedroom with a queen-size bed, a seating area with a triple sofa and two armchairs, a bathroom with shower and toilet and this sitting room is also heated with a wood burning stove. Any experience with wood stoves is very convenient! Wood for the stoves has already laid Hans.
There is no television available, but if desired, I have a screen with built-in DVD player that you can borrow from me. And soon we have an internet radio with bleutooth function!
In the kitchen a fridge with freezer, gas stove with oven and microwave. Additionally, all you need for pots and pans, and if it's not you can borrow it from me.: o). There is salt and pepper, but also dried herbs from the garden and in the growing season you can get fresh herbs from the garden. If the chickens want to go there are eggs and there is always a jam of jam from their own garden in the fridge. There is ample parking space for multiple cars and a shed where you can safely park your bikes. At the door is a solid picnic table for an outdoor breakfast. In the shed you will find a parasol and some easy garden chairs.
The part of the house you live is separated by two doors from the part where we live. You have your own front door and also a side door to the garage where you can park your bike. You have access to the rented rooms, as well as the garden at the front of the house. The use of the backyard o. A. With brook and dining table is almost always ok but in consultation. For your car there is the off road parking.
Although it is a lower house, wheelchair access is not easy. There is a staircase with three steps to enter the house, and from the living room to the shower is a big threshold. There is no threshold between the kitchen and the sitting room.
Unfortunately, no furry friends are allowed in the house, in connection with family members who are allergic to cats and dog hairs.
We are a Dutch couple and have lived in Grand Failly for over 20 years. We know the area well and can help you plan a walk or outing. We are generally at home, so we are here to help with everything you need. We speak French, English, German and Dutch.
