A charming apartment which offers style with breathtaking views of the coastline

This is a fantastic opportunity to rent our newly renovated ground floor, 2 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom duplex apartment. The property dates back to the 1800's where King Edward spent his holidays as a child, although this apartment is the new extension to the older building which used to be the "Orangery". There is an outside terrace which draws you to study and absorb the stunning views as far reaching from Newquay Harbour to Trevone Lighthouse encompassing a number of local Newquay beaches, including Watergate Bay. The local area was also a favourite of the #Beatles as The Magical Mystery Tour spent three days filming down in Cornwall including Porth, Watergate Bay, Holywell Bay, Tregurrian and Fistral Beaches. Filming was also done around Huer's Hut and the stars stayed at the nearby Atlantic Hotel.

The Harbour itself is an ever changing scene with surfers, paddle boarders and small boats coming in and out, not forgetting how quickly the weather changes which constantly frames the coastline. Additional views might be of a few seals splashing around and possibly the Cornwall Air Rescue teams! This apartment still manages to offer peace and tranquillity with its charming views even though it is only a short 5 minute walk into town which now have some great new bars and coffee shops or to the surfers paradise of Fistral Beach.

Our holiday apartment is perfect as a get away for couples, friends, solo travellers or a family. It consists of an open plan kitchen/diner/living space, 2 double bedrooms (1 x king size bed) with private fully tiled shower wet room opposite. The second bedroom is located upstairs via a solid spiral staircase which now has a double bed (but this spacious room can accommodate a single put-you-up bed). This room has its own private bathroom with bath, basin and WC. There is gas central heating, UPVC double glazing and free parking in a secured gated area. Outside, there is a sunny terrace which is a great platform to watch all the activities which might be taking place across the beaches.

About Stacey Bedford

My partner Phil and I had starting looking for a property together earlier this year. We viewed Pentowan House and loved it! We loved the views, the history and wanted to bring the apartment to life again as it was in desperate need of some TLC.

Phil is a Marine Scientist and has worked both in Iceland and around the UK. He moved to Cornwall over 20 years ago so knows the area well. He belongs to Newquay Road Runners and is a keen marathon runner. Guided runs by special request. I used to live in Winchester and work in IT but have taken a year out to spend some time down in Cornwall and work on this project.

The view is breath-taking but also very changeable which is great too. We love the high ceilings and tall windows which bring so much light and an elegance to the main room. We hope we have managed to bring it back to life and you enjoy it as much as we do.

What makes this apartment unique

In our view, this property was a fantastic find as they rarely come up for sale. The building has endless history and the local architects have managed to keep the new part of the building in the same style. We hope we have decorated it in keeping with the style but with a modern twist which we hope you will enjoy.

The property is very quiet and calm but it's also very close to pubs, cafes and restaurants including The Harbour Fish and Grill, Rick Steins, The Stable and Fish. Pubs include The Fort Inn and The Red Lion. There is a champagne bar serving afternoon tea at The Atlantic Hotel. The Headland Hotel also serves offers this service. Sainsburys is also only a 5 minute walk away. There is a fire alarm test held on a Thursday. :)

Stunning, well positioned & beautifully styled

Stacey and Phil were welcoming and helpful. The apartment itself is just stunning and with amazing views across the beaches. Morning coffee on the outside terrace is a must to start the day.

Inside everything has a luxurious feel about it, from White Company bed linen to the modern integrated kitchen. I would highly recommend this place and will be going back again myself. !

Magical, spacious, amazing views and things to do

An amazing place with great views both inside the apartment and outside. The views of the bay are brilliant, it was so relaxing watching surfers and even grey seals catching waves. Really great place to stay with the hosts making sure your stay is very well catered for. The apartment is very spacious with a mix of modern and historic with its King Edwardian charm. The Beatles finished their Magical Mystery Tour just around the corner but there is so much more to explore in this area ...

Top notch!

We were first time visitors to Newquay for the half term week. Apartment was of a very high standard, with new beds, bedding towels and sofas.

Our son loved his bunk bed upstairs not being able to deceive on top bunk or bottom double!

The lounge/diner kitchen area was nice and spacious blessed with beautiful looks over to the bays .

Raised kitchen area had all mod cons and nice clean new utensils. WiFi and Modern TV with all bells and whistles kept the entertainment level up when the evenings drew in.

We went body boarding most days and there is a nice big walk in shower (handy for washing wetsuits) downstairs, and a big bathroom upstairs to bring back circulation .

It was a short walk into town, with private parking bay in a gated area outside the apartment, what’s not to like?

We had a great time and thoroughly recommend this apartment

Excellent and Elegant says it all

The property is stunning and the views are to die for.

Stacey has decorated the property to very high standard and has literally thought of everything. You would be hard pushed to find better quality bed linen and towels in a five star hotel.

The property has the most welcoming feeling and its honestly like being at home. I only wish I could have stayed longer.

Stacey and Phil are the most welcoming of couples and Phil's knowledge of the local area is second to none.

Can't wait to visit again.

King Edward's View is a 5 minute walk to the Atlantic Hotel and 10 minutes to The Headland Hotel. The location is 5 minutes from The Red Lion and The Fort Inn public houses and close to some of the best restaurants in the area including The Fish House, The Harbour Fish and Grill, Rick Steins and The Stable. All are within 10 minutes walk. In addition new coffee shops, Vegan and Gluten free cafes are 5 minutes walk away.

Newquay is one of the main surfing beaches, however other local ones to try are Towan, Lusty Glaze, Porth and Watergate Bay. Places to visit would be Padstow, Port Isaac and St Ives by train from Lelant. (park and ride - just off the A30 at St Erth).
