Overview

About the property

Lovingly restored Cornish Cottage in great location close to the beach

Primrose Cottage is a recently refurbished cottage set within it's own private garden in the small hamlet of Treburrick positioned above Porthcothan Bay. Treburrick is half way between Padstow and Watergate Bay, so access to the "7 Bays in 7 Days" are all no more than 15 minutes drive away. The house is 15 minutes walk to the Beach or 5 minutes in a car. We have had the house for 5 years and have enjoyed many family holidays all year round. The cottage is situated down a private track and there is parking for 2 cars on the drive. Primrose Cottage has been our second home and has been furnished to a high standard.

Primrose Cottage has 2 double bedrooms, one with a Mezzaine Bed, the third bedroom has 2 single beds. All have fully sprung mattresses with a choice of fibre or feather pillows. The house has the benefit of central heating and a real fire in the lounge. On the first floor is a family bathroom off the Master Bedroom with bath, toilet and sink. The shower room is downstairs off the Kitchen and Lounge.

There is a Kitchen diner and separate Lounge, all with handmade furniture and soft furnishings. The house has been decorated and funished to a high standard. Wifi and broadband is available and the kitchen has a microwave, coffee machine, microwave and full cooking utensils, we like to cook so it is a Cook's kitchen.

All the beds have 800 knot white linen which is included as well as soft white towels.

The Cottage comes with a travel bed, bugaboo Frog Pram, high chair and garage full of recreation items, such as wind break, body boards, wetsuits and most importantly, bucket and spades.

There is a Garage for you to store roof boxes, ancillary items. There is an outdoor spray tap for washing down wetsuits and boards.

We are members of Trewan swimming pool so you are welcome to use our membership whilst staying at the house. The pool is open between Easter and October half term.

The Cottage is in a great location for visiting all the main beaches and if you are a keen runner then easy access to the coastal paths. Porthcothan Bay has a new coffee shop and stores just by the beach so great for fresh Chough Bakery items and fresh coffee in the mornings. We like the cottage because it is close enough to everywhere but has no immediate neighbours and so as a perfectly quiet outdoor space. There is a outdoor area for seating for 6-8 people plus 2 sun loungers plus a BBQ.

Our Stay at Primrose Cottage.

  • 5 of 5

We as a family have stayed at many cottages in Cornwall / Newquay over the years and this cottage is up there with the best of them if not the best. Its has such a homely feel to it from the moment you walk in the door. The cottage had everything we required as a family meaning we really did feel at home. Surround by so many beaches within a short drive the location I found was perfect and even in June the weather was perfect. We enjoyed our stay there so much that we are planning on making a return trip over the summer holidays!!

Beautifully clean cottage, very well decorated

  • 4 of 5

The cottage was as lovely and clean looking in the flesh as it looks in the pictures. Most importantly the beds are incredibly comfortable - so much so that I got home and almost immediately ordered myself a new mattress as I slept better in the cottage than I do at home!

The cottage was very well equipped and perfect for us with little ones (4 and 15 months) as there were some Lego Duplo and a little tea set and some other bits that the little ones loved to play with - I needn't have brought so many of our own toys. Also useful was the high chair... A slight negative was the stroller that was at the cottage was not fantastic to use so I'd definitely recommend bringing your own if you have the need for one.

The location was good for exploring the north coast although we went everywhere by car as couldn't figure out how to get anywhere on foot with a pushchair so you'd need to use a backpack if you have little ones.

The owners are extremely helpful and very good at communication which was great.

The only reason for 4 starts rather than 5 was the stroller situation as if I'd have known it wasn't really usable then I'd have brought my own and there was a slight bit of building work going on in the house opposite which made the road a bit muddy and pot-holy which was only a slight annoyance as there wasn't any noise after hours which was good.

A lovely, well situated and well equipped cottage

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the cottage for a family beach holiday and couldn't have been more pleased with it. Really close to a wide selction of beaches, loads to do and see and a very cosy, comfortable, warm and modern facilities to come home to after days out. Our children loved playing in the garden and visiting the local chocolate factory/cafe! Hot chocolate to die for... We would highly recommend this cottage and will be visiting again!

A truly lovely stay.

  • 5 of 5

My family recently enjoyed a very short but immensely enjoyable stay at Primrose Cottage, whilst on route to St Ives.

The cottage itself is stunning yet practical for a family with young children, such as ours. The owners have provided somewhere that you can really relax and have clearly considered every detail that might be needed to achieve this. From the high quality furnishings, mod cons such as Nespresso machine, delightful enclosed garden, family games, and thoughtful little boxes of fun for the younger ones; no stone has been left unturned.

It was our first time in the area and we noted what an excellent location the cottage is for so much that we later wish to explore in Cornwall. We will most certainly be back, however next time, hopefully for longer!

Tranquil cottage holiday

  • 5 of 5

Beautifully presented picture perfect cottage , myself my partner and our three children spent a week at the cottage . The location is great and is 5 minute drive away from a fantastic beach at porthcothan bay , our children played happily in the sand and the sea everyday even when the sun wasn’t out , Everything we needed for the beach was at the cottage , beach chairs , windbreakers , etc which was Really helpful and saved us a small fortune....this is the first time we have ever been to Cornwall or holidayed in the UK and we throughly enjoy the experience we visited somewhere different every day for half a day then spent the rest of the time at the beach or in the cottage relaxing and enjoying family time , the cottage is in a great location and only a short drive from all the places we wanted to visit , Padstow harbour for fish and chips , The chocolate factory , Eden , Watergate bay , Camel theme park and 2 National Trust houses ...we spent our evenings cooking and playing board games in the cottage it really does have everything you need and was so practical for a family with children the beds were comfortable with high end gorgeous cotton sheets and pillows plus a shower in the downstairs bathroom perfect for the children coming home covered in sand . I will definitely be returning and the children said it the best holiday they have ever been on we all felt very comfortable in the cottage and the surroundings with everything covered that you could possibly need and a great information book too .

Stunningly beautiful cottage in a great location!

  • 5 of 5

This summer my family and I were lucky enough to spend a week in this very special cottage. We had the most wonderful stay and found Primrose cottage to be a small slice of heaven.

The house itself beautiful and immaculate in its presentation but also homely and incredibly comfortable.

A pretty garden surrounds the house which our little girls loved as they had so much freedom to run around and play but equally my husband enjoyed sitting out in the evenings, reading and relaxing.

The cottage is in a lovely hamlet so as a family we could enjoy the peace that the location offered but we could quickly and easily access so many fabulous places.

Prior to our stay the owners James and Kay provided us with many recommendations of beaches to visit, places to eat and sights to see. As first time visitors to Cornwall this was really useful and as a result we were able to make the most of our week.

Porthcothan beach was a favourite and only 5 minutes away from the cottage. There is a great shop/café there and lots of parking. The owners were more than happy for us to make use of their collection of wetsuits and body boards so our daughters quickly became surfing enthusiasts!

Other favourite places to visit were Trevone beach, Padstow and we had an unforgettable dining experience at Scott & Babs. All I can say is that you have to try it!

We really can’t say enough lovely things about our stay or the owners who were so thoughtful, helpful and quick to respond to any enquiries.

We had an absolutely fabulous holiday and can’t wait to return for another stay!
