Relaxation galore awaits at this 3000-square-foot contemporary with wood interior and many amenities.
The natural beauty is unsurpassed. Hummingbirds dart around pine trees. A small brook (popular with young frog spotters) flows along one side of the property. Loons and an occasional heron fish in the sandy bottomed cove. Swimmers emerge revitalized from the spring-fed waters of Lake Winnie.
Sunbathe on the spacious dock or inviting decks. The house faces west, enabling you to revel in sunlight into early evening. Later, sip your cocktails watching sunsets illuminate the mountains.
Inside, the living room with its lofty ceiling, massive stone fireplace, and sliding glass doors, opening onto the deck, is ideal for socializing. Children quickly claim the basement family room with its extensive collection of movies and games.
Most guests prefer the lodge's private sand beach, but you'll also have access to a 100-foot association beach, a short drive away.
Local hiking is exhilarating. Mt. Major is nearby, and the entrance to an intriguing nature conservation area is just down the road. Returning hikers enjoy massaging tired muscles in the Jacuzzi as they watch boats pass by on the bay.
This location is ideal for day trips. Nearby, is Gunstock Mt., with its thrilling zip line. A 15-min. drive takes you to the nation's oldest resort town, Wolfeboro, with its quaint shops and fine dining. The owner is a University of N.H. and Standford University, CA trained engineer and pilot, who's built his own plane.
He grew up on a farm in southern N.H. and, surprisingly, still enjoys gardening. However, he regrets to report that Nellie the deer harvested more vegetables than he did last year at 241 Trask Side Road; they are in competition with the turkeys and bear, but seem more friendly.
Bill cleared this land, and built most of this structure. He had assistance from nephews, who found the construction of the fireplace thrilling -- especially at the roof level.
Willliam E. French purchased this lodge in 1989
Best deal on the lake! Spectacular views and visually pleasing, comfortable quarters make your stay memorable.
Flat, level property makes the home and waterfront easily accessible for adults and children. Wonderful views of lake and mountains, and brilliant sunsets over the saddleback of Gunstock Mountain.
Double-insulated, the first floor bedroom (located next to the half bath) is quiet and convenient to reach for elderly guests or those with limited mobility.
Home faces west, for late day sun and spectacular sunsets.
Where else can winter visitors watch planes land on an ice runway? Folks come from far away for winter carnival or just to take in the atmosphere of the unique village of ice-fishing bob huts.
Located in a snow belt, the Gunstock Ski Area is a 30-min. drive away. In summer, Gunstock operates a popular zip line.
The house is in pretty good shape and does have a flat back yard which is great for frisbee, soccer, etc. The bedrooms are in good shape with the exception of the basement bedroom which has that basement smell. Overall the house is a decent value, but I would not recommend it due to problems getting a security deposit back. The lease says you will get your deposit back within 21 days. After 21 days I contacted the owner and was told it would be sent shortly. At 5 weeks I again contacted the owner and was told it will be sent shortly. At 6 weeks I again contacted the owner and was told he is sending it, but not the full amount because he had to separate some recyclables from the trash and damage to the dock. There was no damage to the dock that I know of. I got no response when I asked for more information or receipt when I got my partial deposit back. Overall this leaves a very sour end to a vacation and I would recommend future renters to beware. I have rented houses numerous times through VRBO and Homeaway and have never had a problem like this.
The owners keep this spacious home in very good condition. Very quiet area. The yard is tidy and perfect for kids to play. Large porch provides incredible views all day and night. Best feature by far is the doc and sandy bottom swimming area. I suggest families bring plenty of items to play with in the water and consider renting a boat or jet ski to take full advantage.
We had a wonderful time! This is a beautiful home on the Lake with wonderful views and sunsets; great swimming and sunning also. A hard to find classic NH lakehome, spacious and well maintained. It was the best deal going and we plan to return again, THANKS!
