4 Bedroom gite (sleeps 10/12). Heated pool, large deck with BBQ, great views.
Dating from the 1850's, but completely renovated , this spacious accommodation offers a luxurious break away from it all, plus a taste of real France.
The barn, spread over 3 and1/2 floors, has three double bedrooms (1 en-suite) and a large gallery, sleeping 4/5. In addition there are 2 bath/shower rooms and 4th toilet. For larger parties the gite has a double sofa- bed, and for those with a taste for the out door living, we now have a tree house which can sleep 2 people.
The main living space in the gite is the large open plan raised ground floor. This 9.5 meter square space ( 31 feet by 31 feet) allows the large kitchen, generous dinning area and spacious seating zone to be fully integrated. The cook(s) are not banished from the life of the party!
The fully equipped kitchen comes with all the usual appliances including catering-sized pots and pans for larger groups.
The spacious living/dining area offers direct access to the pool and deck. We have satellite TV, and a newly installed Wi Fi booster that gives great coverage in the gite and on the deck; We also have a large selection of books, jigsaw puzzles and games. The lower ground floor games room has a full size table-tennis table, a half-size snooker table and table football. New for 2015 we are offering The Tree House for those who would like to sleep in the Great Outdoors. We would ask that guests wishing to do so, to bring a sleeping bag. The Tree House has an old brass double bed or soft carpets for indoor / outdoor types! It also has electricity.
The gite also comes equipped with high chairs and cots for very young children.
There is direct access from the gite to the heated swimming pool (8 m x 4 m), and large wooden deck. The deck is equipped with a gas BBQ, a large dining table with seating for 12 plus guests as well as large sun shades. There are two lawned spaces in the garden, and off road parking fro 4 or more cars. We are situated in a very rural setting, our nearest neighbours being a kilometre distant. We are surrounded by beautiful views in all directions and country walks freely accessible simply by stepping outside. That being said, local amenities, shops, banks, service station etc are a quick drive away ( 5 minutes). We feel that our gite has something to offer for everyone.

Winter bookings of the gite [ Dec. Jan. and Feb.,March and April ] have a winter fuel supplement of 50 euros/ sterling equivalent per week. However, should the gite not require extra heating above the norm, then the fuel supplement will be fully refunded.
The pool is open from mid May until the end of September.
For groups larger than 10 persons a supplement of 10% per person per week is chargeable.
We now can accept Cheques Vacances.
Taxe de Séjour. We are required by law to collect Taxe Séjour on all of our guests aged 18 and above at a rate of €0.80 per person per night. We will collect this tax on your arrival at the gÎte.
Cleaning Charge. A cleaning charge of €50 is payable on our property. We shall collect this on arrival at the property.

Clean and well equipped with nice private pool area. Discreet but helpful owners on site.
Lovely guests, we really enjoyed having them here. I would recommend them to any one. They left the gîte as they found it, we couldn't ask for more.
Perfect sized house for our two families to stay
The four children loved the attic dorm and games room and the four adults loved the well equipped kitchen and comfy sofas. The pool was great and when the sun shone it was perfect to lurk about. The gas BBQ was brilliant and there was always plenty of hot water in the powerful showers. We cycled the country lanes on colder days and visited Ambert and had a tour of the mus'energy. Up the road we had a demonstration of wood turning and visited a French flea market. Overall this is a great house for a crowd as it is comfortable, big and well equipped.

Great place to get away from it all, but there are still plenty of amenities close by. Loved the pool and open plan living area. John and Morag were very welcoming and loved meeting Max their dog! Would definitely recommend for a relaxing holiday
A wonderful week in the French countryside
We had a great week at John and Morag's gite. The house was wonderful and had plenty of room for our family of 10. The kids loved the pool, the tree house, and the game room. John and Morag were really helpful before we arrived and during our stay. Before we arrived, Morag helped me find and schedule a private chef in the area (Arthur Lefranc - I highly recommend him - www.arthurlefranc.fr) that came to the gite and prepared a 3 course meal for us. It was wonderful and reasonably priced! During the week, Morag and John also gave us some suggestions for activities and helped us make reservations over the phone. Our favorite day trips were visiting the town of Le Puy en Velay about 45 minutes away from the gite and hiking to the top of Le Puy de Dome (about 90 minutes away). The countryside and towns surrounding the gite are beautiful and several of them have weekly markets that we enjoyed. Overall, it was a great week and I would highly recommend this place to others!
Attractive and well maintained property
We loved staying at this property. The downstairs was great with a large open plan living room and kitchenand upstairs had 3 double bedrooms plus a mezzanine with extra beds. John and Morag were great hosts who made sure we had everything we needed. We loved the pool and the outside area with the barbecue. The kitchen was very well appointed with every pot, pan or utensil you could possibly need. The living area was ideal for chilling out and there was a games room with table tennis and table football. The area was very rural but there was a well stocked supermarket a mile away. We enjoyed the peacefulness of the property but you need to be organised about shopping as shops are not open all the time. Good restaurants in Ambert can recommend Les Copains. Chaise Dieu, Puy en Velay, Thiers and Clermont Ferrand are all worth visiting
Perfect holiday location.
This is a wonderful, clean and well furnished Gite in one of the most beautiful parts of France, it is a perfect holiday location for all generations.
Morag, John and the twins who live next door are delightful and could not do enough to help us without being intrusive.
We will be recommending this property to our friends and my husband and I hope to return next year.
The gite is located in the heart of the Parc Naturel Regional Du Livradois Forez close to the small market town of Arlanc. Our GPS co-ordinates are 45°426596 N, 03°749986 E. There are good road links to the French Autoroute System. Le Puy-en-Velay and la ChaiseDieu are a few kilometres drive south whilst Thiers, Clermont Ferrand and Vichy are close by to the north. The town of Ambert is just 16 km away. This region is very unspoilt and retains its distinct French character. Traffic is light, traffic jams something you leave behind! Local markets are very traditional where people come to enjoy the local atmosphere as well as to sample the regional specialities. The International Music Festival at la Chaise Dieu is rightly famous through out Europe while the Country and Western Festival in near by Craponne - sur - Arzon makes for a very interesting weekend! For those interested in Romanesque architecture, the region has many wonderful examples. Golf: Prospective guests would need to research local golf courses using the internet. Ski: During the winter months cross country skiing is available locally.

Additional information about rental rates
A booking is confirmed on receipt of a 25% non refundable deposit. The outstanding balance plus a fully refundable damage / cleaning deposit of £150 per week, is due 8 weeks before your stay begins. We will email to remind guests of the due date. During winter (December through till and including April) we may have to make an additional energy charge of £125 per week ( max). Pets are allowed by agreement. The rental sum is for a maximum of 10 ( ten ) guests. If the party is for more than 10 guests we charge an additional sum of 10% per person. Note that children up to 12 years are not charged this additional sum.
