Overview

About the property

Detached Luxury ski chalet Strobl St Wolfgang, Wolfgangsee near Salzburg

Luxury Ski Chalet only 35 minutes from Salzburg in Austria's most beautiful lake district. 2 Double bedrooms + 2 self contained suites. The suites have en suite bathrooms and each has it own balcony. So a total of 4 bedrooms ( two with their own bathrooms and two sharing a 3rd separate bathroom ) The house has separate internal front doors to the ground floor and the two suites upstairs which means group members can have total privacy if and when they want it. The property is modern but built in the style of a typical Austrian Skiing Chalet.

The floors are cherry wood and warm. Located in a private road with easy access to the main route in and out of Strobl.

There is an amazing multimedia room in the basement with another Smart 4k 55" ( 140cm ) TV, this time with a surround sound system - great for watching films with the family. A Sony PS3, two PC's plus a Skype phone for free or cheap phone calls. There is free WiFi in the Chalet the children will love it.

Salzburg: Salzburg is worth a trip to Austria on its own and if you stay in our Chalet it's less than 35 minutes away. The route is really simple and mostly on a single Motorway. It is the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the setting for parts of the musical and film The Sound of Music. Great shopping and food.

Golf: If you love Golf you'll love the local Salzkammergut Golf Club. The views are stunning, mountains, blue skies and clean fresh air. Now approaching its 70th Birthday the Salzkammergut Golf Club, is a mature course set in rolling parkland. Trees line the fairways and it makes excellent use of the natural contours of the land. The green keeping is of the highest standard with immaculate true running greens. The club has an excellent clubhouse with restaurant and pro shop. Next door to the course is the Franz Laimer Golf Training Centre, which has modern indoor and outdoor training facilities.

Christmas markets: There are wonderful Christmas markets in the area. Nothing looks more like a 'real' Christmas than the beautiful buildings in Strobl and St. Wolfgang covered in snow and market stalls dressed with lights. St. Wolfgang also has a permanent Christmas shop.

A great chalet in a great location

  • 5 of 5

Chalet was easy to find thanks to the great directions supplied by the owner.

Plenty of space and very well appointed. Lovely rooms and a bonus of a huge basement / TV room including computers with internet access,

Many attractions are within easy reach so an ideal base for a holiday enabling us to ride cable cars and visit many of the pretty lakeside towns and even go down a salt mine.

Highly recommended - we shall be back!

Neither luxurious nor a tradional Austrian chalet.

  • 1 of 5

Unfortunately we were disappointed with this rental. The website is very misleading as to the discription and location of the house. First it's located on a back alley in a crowded neighborhood and even with GPS was hard to find. The view from the balconies was of the next door neighbors which offered very little privacy. The beds were very uncomfortable as they consisted of a thin mattress on top of wooden slats. Also the photos on the website make it look like there are King-size beds but they were actually 2 twin beds pushed together with the wooden frames down the middle. The kitchen was tiny and the sink barely big enough for a few glasses. We were also told we couldn't wear shoes in the house, not even flip flops or slippers! Fortunely it was a very short drive to the town of Strobl, which was quaint, and we could catch the ferry to explore other lakeside villages. We loved the beauty of the mountains and lakes in this area and would definetly return but would try and rent a house overlooking the lake the next time.

Owner's Response: Lisa and I were very upset to hear you were disappointed with our beautiful chalet. After 10 years of renting it on this site your review is the first of it's type and the first from an American visitor. We, and our guests, have never had any problems with GPS but the chalet's access road is new and the village council has renumbered all the properties in August 2017. We do have neighbours as we are in a village not a field. No one has ever said a bad word about the beds but as a direct result of the criticism we have replaced ALL the mattresses in the chalet with brand new, 3 times thicker , pocket sprung mattresses something we could have done within 24 hours if our guest from the USA had told us. The kitchen is perfect for the holiday chalet and there are photos of it on the site. We a dishwasher too. Clearly it's not the size of most American kitchens but again never had a single bad comment about it. We have lovely rose wood floors so we do like to keep them nice for all our guests to enjoy, any shoes which respect this are fine - we will change this in our chalet guide to say this. We have free WiFi, two computers, PS3, games, a surround sound system, laser printer and a brand new smart 55" 4K TV so I think we have many things you don't find in most holiday homes or even 5 star hotels in Europe. We take great pride in our lovely chalet and with 10 years on this site we think it's safe to say 100's of people have had a wonderful time in it, but we are sorry you did not. David and Lisa

A great place to spend a holiday

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this chalet with friends in June. It is spacious and comfortable and makes a great base for exploring the local area.

We made the most of the good weather we had, going on some lovely walks around the lakes nearby. We also took the ferry across the lake to St Gilgen (Take a trip up on the cable car for views over the town and the lake.)

The mountain views are stunning and there are plenty of places to visit within a short drive of the chalet. We would recommend a visit to the Dachstein 5 Fingers viewing platform and ice cave near Obertraun.

The local restaurant, within walking distance of the chalet, is well worth a visit. The food was delicious and the service friendly and attentive.

All in all this was a great place to holiday.

Beautiful chalet

  • 5 of 5

The chalet is beautiful, modern, homely, spacious and very well equipped. It is also very clean and well maintained. We felt at home straight away.

The bedrooms are lovely and very cosy and the beds are so comfy.

The room in the basement is fabulous with lots to keep the kids entertained, with the internet, PS3 and lots of films.

The location is just perfect. Everything is so close. We didn't need to go far to ski. The restaurants are great and we enjoyed our walks. The views in the area are just amazing! There are also some lovely gift shops.

We would definitely love to come back here again!

Perfect Chalet

  • 5 of 5

We love this chalet.

We went first in the summer and then returned for Skiing in the Winter last year.

It's a perfect location with so much to do and see.

Everything in the chalet is new and clean, you feel at home the moment you open the door.

The bedrooms are cosy and the multimedia room is a real surprise.

My son loved the PS3 and Teddy Bear chair, my husband liked having the Internet and I enjoyed watching the films on the large TV with sursound sound.

Of course Austria is all about the outside and there is so much to do in both summer and winter.

Wonderful food, great views, walks, water sports etc.. and skiing in the Winter. We also made a few day trips to Salzburg as its so near and is really worth visiting.

We love the chalet so much we are going back for our third time in Feb 2010 for the Skiing, can't wait!
