The most desirable residential area in Edinburgh. It is also a Unesco World Heritage Site on account of its Georgian Architecture. Tucked away from the main road, this quiet street is perfectly located. The area is peppered with high-end restaurants, a mix of proper pubs, and more fashionable bars and art galleries. The Playhouse theatre is just across the road. To the south, The Royal Mile and Castle are 15-20 minutes away on foot, and to the north is bustling Leith and the Shore. Nearby Broughton Street is full of lovely restaurants, bars, cafes, independent shops, a fishmonger and butcher's shop. The expansive selection of shops on George Street and Princes Street are only a couple of minutes' walk away.
Waverley Railway Station is 5-10 minutes away by foot. The York Place Tram stop is just around the corner and runs regularly to and from the Airport, which is very close to the National Portrait Gallery. Cars can be parked in the near-by Omni centre ("Q Park Omni"). There is also a Hertz car rental 2 minutes away .
