Altea is undoubtedly one of the most charming cities to be found along the white coast of Spain, located in the Alicante region on the Costa Blanca. The city is only 11 kilometers north of Benidorm, but the two resorts are divided worldwide. Altea is similar to other Costa Blanca cities because it has a new and old neighborhood. The old part is on top of a hill from which you get a spectacular view.
Although the Altea resort is less than 10 miles from Benidorm, the two resorts can no longer be different. Altea is a relaxing holiday destination with historic buildings, cobbled streets, a beautiful church and a number of typical Spanish shops, restaurants and cafes.

Altea's shopping area is very beautiful and old-fashioned Spanish. The stores usually open between 10.00 and 21.00, but many shopkeepers will adhere to the use of a siesta during the hot months and thus between 2 and 16 hours.
The best way to reach Altea is on foot so you can see the beautiful old buildings on the cobbled streets that you could miss if traveling by car. You can also go hiking with one of the many companies specializing in guided tours.
Altea's main square has a fascinating bohemian market where local artisans, artists and other sellers sell unique products between April and September.
Golfers find the Altea Golf Club compared to other top golf courses in Spain; therefore, Altea is a popular destination with golfers from all over Europe.
