Situated in the glorious Devon countryside in the Torridge Valley is Berry Farmhouse, a stunning holiday home, which sleeps up to 16 in seven bedrooms. The family and dog friendly property is set in the pretty village of Petrockstowe and has wonderful views stretching out over the valley and unspoilt countryside.
The impressive farmhouse is deceptively spacious and has retained many of its period features, including sash windows, oak floors and an inglenook fireplace. There really is no shortage of character where Berry Farm is concerned, and it has all been effortlessly blended with a range of modern day features and facilities to allow guests to enjoy a relaxed and comfortable holiday.
On the ground floor of the farmhouse is a large dining room, a comfy sitting room, a handy snug, a well-equipped kitchen/breakfast room and a separate utility room. There is also a double bedroom located downstairs, which is great for families. The final six bedrooms, four of which benefit from their own en-suite bathroom are positioned on the first floor along with the family bathroom.
From the main entrance guests enter a large reception hall with plenty of space for hanging coats and storing boots. Double doors lead into the dining room, which has a solid wood table seating up to 16. In the sitting room there are large windows letting in plenty of light, an inglenook fireplace with wood-burning stove and big comfy sofas and armchairs perfect for relaxing or watching TV. The kitchen is equipped to a high standard featuring a fridge/freezer, a coffee machine, a dishwasher, an electric oven with induction hob and a four oven AGA. Next door is the handy separate utility room, which has a washing machine and tumble dryer.
The ground floor double bedroom is ideal for grandparents and is also very pretty with a decorative fireplace housing an electric heater, an armchair and a dresser.
A wide staircase leads to the large landing from which the six first floor bedrooms can be accessed. These include a double aspect triple room with three standard single bed, two of which are zip and link allowing it to also be a family room with king size double and single bed. Through the archway is a second spacious family bedroom with super king size double bed and additional single bed; this bedroom also benefits from an en-suite bathroom fitted with a shower over the bath. The next bedroom is a double with super king size bed and far reaching countryside views. Bedroom five is a double with luxurious en-suite fitted with two wash basins, a Jacuzzi bath and a separate walk-in shower. Two small steps lead to the sixth bedroom, which has a double bed, sloped ceilings and an en-suite with shower over the bath. The final bedroom is at the end of the hallway and has a king-size bed and en-suite shower room with walk-in shower.
As well as the en-suite bedrooms, there is a good sized family bathroom located on the first floor, which has a bath, a wash basin and a WC.
Whilst staying at Berry Farm guests can enjoy the extensive grounds. To the front of the house is a south facing garden, which is mainly laid to lawn and is enclosed by an old stone wall. To the rear of the farmhouse is another large garden with terrace, rockery, ponds and an orchard. You can even go further to discover the woods and large pond that are beyond the rear garden, although we do ask that children are supervised when playing near the water.
Back at the farmhouse a skittle alley has been set up in one of the stone barns to provide hours of family fun.
This pretty countryside retreat really is perfect for large or multiple families, as well as groups of friends. Within easy reach of the farmhouse there are several places to enjoy a walk, including The Tarka Trail, which runs from Braunton in North Devon to Meeth on the edge of Dartmoor. This largely traffic free pathway is used by both walkers and cyclists. The North Devon coast with its glorious beaches is also only a 30-minute drive from Berry Farm and guests are guaranteed to fall in love with its seaside towns and villages, such as Westward Ho! and Instow.
