Flagstaff Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Loft + Den, 2.5+ Baths, (Sleeps 11) Wrap-around deck/views

Lone Elk Lodge is a stunning Flagstaff cabin nestled on one and-a-half acres of tall Ponderosa Pines. Located in the Continental Country Club, just seven minutes from Downtown Historic Flagstaff, this cabin affords unbeatable privacy and breathtaking mountain views. For summer guests booking six nights or more, rental rates include free access to two pools, tennis and work out room and reduced rates for golf. (Full member rate) With 3000 square feet, Lone Elk Lodge is perfectly suited for family gatherings or a base for your Grand Canyon/Sedona/South Western adventure. Furnished in vintage cabin style, 'The Lodge' offers a sense of being lost in the woods while actually being within minutes of Flagstaff's best restaurants, boutiques and sightseeing. Cozy up with two wood burning fireplaces, or dine on the expansive wrap-around deck and watch the elk and deer meander through the property. Winter snow affords great sledding on our sunny hillside location. Due to our hillside location we're the only vacation rental in Flagstaff to offer sledding on the property! Accommodations include a gourmet kitchen, formal dining room, breakfast room, a sun room, large media loft with cathedral ceilings, library, laundry room, A/C and a two car garage. Enjoy the tree tops from the wall of windows in the living room. Every bedroom affords fantastic views! The master is on the main level with a large walk in shower. Brew your morning coffee and walk outside in your own private scented forest with views to wake your soul. A strictly non-smoking property. We offer wireless internet, free digital phone (Within US) and cable TV. Our guests always thank us for sharing this incredible retreat with them. For pet owners with prior approval: your pooches will be in doggy heaven watching deer and chasing squirrels. The last photo is of the large dog run at the back of the cabin. Pet fees apply. Book early for Summer and the Holidays!

About Madeleine Sinclair

Hi, I'm the owner/manager. Originally from England, the scenery and surroundings of Flagstaff blow me away. We had a hard time finding a cabin in Flagstaff that fit our criteria for privacy, quiet and inspiring views in the pines, yet close to town. Everywhere we looked we found properties on small lots, overlooked by neighbors and plagued by traffic noise. We didn't need a big cabin, but we ended up with this one because we just couldn't beat the location, views and privacy. It's turned out to be one of the best things we've ever done. We get to stay in this incredible retreat, enjoy the Country Club amenities, and share it with the wonderful families who literally move us to tears with their appreciation for the special place we've designed. The Lodge is used by couples, often with their furry friends, enjoying a special occasion but more often it's the gathering place for families who are looking for that unique dream place to create memories. It's a joy to share Lone Elk Lodge with our renters.

Madeleine Sinclair purchased this cabin in 2005

Why Madeleine Sinclair chose Arizona

My family from the UK have loved visiting me in Flagstaff. Of course they love the sightseeing and just being in the South West but they also love the scent of the forest, the Aspen on Fall, and the wildlife. At night they enjoyed visiting unique pubs and restaurants Downtown and the live music at night, the independent coffee shops, the galleries. While they liked visiting Sedona, they were glad our cabin was in Flagstaff where there is more to do and see and it's a better base for excursions to the Grand Canyon etc.

What makes this cabin unique

I sometimes wonder why so many guests email me with their appreciation but don't post reviews. I guess most of our guests like to keep Lone Elk Lodge a secret! While the Lodge does have air conditioning, for me it's all about the clear mountain air, sleeping with the windows open with the scent of the pines.

It's about getting up in the morning and seeing those views, walking through the pines with with my coffee, and greeting the deer that sleep in the hollow above the cabin. While my guests rave about the golf and the pools, I love the nearby hiking trails. The Country Club is surrounded by forest and the deer and elk roam free in our heavily treed neighborhood Of Lakeside Acres where the houses are hidden in the pines. At night you can't beat the real wood fire, it never gets old for me. I'm only seven minutes from town for whatever I might need, but it's hard to tear myself away from the Lodge once I arrive. It's fun for me to visit and see the snow men made by the families that stay here and try out the sled run. Keeps me young!

We just keep coming back!

  • 5 of 5

We have had the great good fortune to stay at Maddy's Lone Elk Lodge four times already and we will certainly be back time and again. The pictures really don't do it justice. The views and privacy are amazing and yet you are still only a few minutes drive to town! The property is cozy and inviting, yet has all of these neat areas so family members can also spread out. We generally have a party of six comprising of four adults and two kiddos and we all always marvel at how well the property accommodates our together time as well as time spent alone relaxing or reading. We also love that we can bring our family dog with us! She loves the outdoor areas...so many smells and new things to explore! We enjoy family games and meals at the big dining tables both inside and outside. We also love exploring nature around the lodge and on the nearby trails. This last visit we saw a huge herd of elk just strolling through the property. Our boys went nuts taking videos and photos...a very unique experience for them to see such amazing creatures up close and personal. It's a great, great vacation property...clean, well appointed, comfortable. Maddy is wonderful to work with! We just keep coming back:).

Beautiful, well appointed home for a family or group visit

  • 5 of 5

Mule deer and Elk wander freely past the property, the deer, not at all afraid of us humans. It's a quiet, woodsy spot, and the video and pictures are true. The home was very clean, and tastefully and thoughtfully decorated; beds are very soft, appointed with new, quality mattresses (my only quibble, I prefer a firmer bed). Ample public rooms and three bedrooms, extra roll-away beds, too. A kitchen that (like all rental homes) is not quite home, but was fine for our uses — I cooked two family dinners, and we made breakfast every day; it was convenient, and everything worked well. A minor repair of the faucet was taken care of by Maddie, the gracious and responsive owner, post-haste. In fact, communication with the owner was extremely easy and pleasant.

Location is a perfect jumping-off point for many places, and we found ourselves, besides at the grand canyon, exploring Sedona, the wine country near it, ancient ruins, vortex points. We also found some great restaurants in town, had Mothers day dinner at Brix, ate great Thai in town too. We visited the local Flagstaff museum on a rainy day, and even the 3-year-old was happy there. They have a wonderful and thoughtfully curated collection. All in all, a wonderful meet-up with family, and a restful spring vacation. Highly recommended!

Beautiful Area

  • 5 of 5

The house was great. The views from the front porch are nothing sort of amazing. We loved having the dog run, since there are so many distractions if you take your pets off their leash. Overall we enjoyed the property.

Flagstaff Environs: There are more national monuments around Flagstaff than I can mention here, let alone state parks, scenic byways, museums and unique destinations such as the Lowell Observatory. Beyond Flagstaff, the Red Rock Country of Sedona and the Rim Country are within easy access. The Grand Canyon is 90 mins away. Luckily, to help plan your schedule, the Flagstaff Visitor Center in Downtown (Old train station) on Route 66 is staffed and equipped with everything you'll need from maps and insider tips to the latest weather forecasts on the roads to the Grand Canyon.
