Le Tertre Gites - 'Jaune' is a newly renovated gite (September 2017) and is one of three gites in a barn conversion set in unspoilt open countryside in this lovely, peaceful rural location. We are conveniently located for exploring both Lower Normandy and the Mayenne plus other parts of the spectacular Loire. There are a number of chateaux (Lassay, St Suzanne, Carrouges, Fougeres etc.) and other historic and cultural places to visit in the surrounding region.
The owners live in the separate farmhouse across the garden from the gite and are available to provide whatever assistance you may need to make the most of your holiday. Providing modern, comfortable accommodation with all modern facilities, Le Tertre Gites 'Jaune' is located on the border of Normandy and the Loire and is perfect for exploring both areas.
Our gite accommodates 2 adults. Bed linen and towels (inc. beach/lounger towels) are provided. The bathroom features a modern suite including bath + shower attachment.
The lounge provides a flat-screen television with UK ‘Freesat’ channels, free wireless internet access, and comfortable seating with a woodburner and electric radiator. The open plan ground floor also provides a dining area and newly fitted kitchen with washing machine.
There is an enclosed garden behind the gite for your own use which has beautiful uninterrupted views across the local countryside. Sun loungers and outside table and chairs are provided.
Free off-road parking is provided.
Electricity and hot water is included in the price. Logs for the woodburner by arrangement. A complimentary welcome pack is provided which includes eggs as available from our own chickens or ducks and other basic groceries.
Be sure to sample some of the many local cheeses and wines from the area. Pears and apples are a local speciality so cider and poiré tasting is a must!
The medieval town of Domfront is only 12km from us, with Mayenne only 20 minutes south of us. The pretty towns of Bagnoles de L'Orne (under 1/2 hour away) and St Fraimbault (10 minutes) are both close by.
Local activities include kayaking, fishing, karting, 'velo-rail' (cycling a multi-person vehicle along a disused railway track!) and inland beaches.
Walkers and nature lovers will love this area as there are miles of unspoilt surrounding countryside, with stunning views right outside the property and up our approach road.
