Hummingbird Villa was listed in The Times newspaper as one of the top 50 villas in the Caribbean, it actually featured top of the list in Grenada (November 2014).

This is a villa that fully justifies the plaudits it has received and it is difficult to imagine finding anything better on the island. The size of the villa provides the opportunity for larger parties to holiday together yet still have privacy when required. It has been superbly designed and the quality of the facilities provided is first class.
Outside there is plenty of space with a large infinity swimming pool, being the central attraction, only rivalled by the magnificent view.
The hotel staff who looked after us were excellent and really helpful in giving advice and guidance on things to do (as well as things not to do!) and places to visit. To ensure we did not leave without sampling true Grenadian cuisine our maid even cooked us homemade Crab Backs which proved a major hit with all the family.
The villa is a short stroll from the local Prickly Bay beach and a very short drive to the famous Grand Anse beach which is next to a shopping centre that can supply all the provisions you need. Restaurants are plentiful and although the Rhodes restaurant was closed during our stay, BBs in St Georges, the Beach House and the La Luna restaurant were excellent alternative venues and all within 15 minutes drive.
For quality of accommodation, facilities, location and service it is impossible not to give the Hummingbird villa 5 stars
Hummingbird was even more sumptuous than we had expected, set in a large plot on a high point overlooking the picturesque bay. The living areas and bedrooms are very spacious, and tastefully furnished, and the kitchen was extremely well equipped. Patricia was a superb maid, who provided a delicious breakfast (and occasional other meals as requested) and kept Hummingbird spotless. Esther was a very professional and helpful liaison, with background and advice on the island (our favourite visits were La Sagesse, Levera Bay and the Grand Etang Forest - although it was also tempting to spend all our time around the Hummingbird pool!).
The Calabash hotel is a short walk away and offers a very good restaurant (the best food and service we had on Grenada) and use of lovely beach, spa (excellent massages) and other facilities.
We had a wonderful time – a week was not long enough!
From the moment we arrived at Hummingbird Villa to the hours of departure a week later, every moment at this vacation villa was exceptional. We had a group of 4 couples visiting for a St George's Med School reunion. Esther and Patricia greeted us upon arrival and took exceptional care of us the entire duration of our stay. Patricia was diligent in keeping the house immaculate, tending to our laundry, and providing helpful suggestions for our stay. We immediately found comfort in having her in the house. She spoiled us and we wanted to take her home. On 2 occasions we were fortunate to have Mark B from the Calabash cook spectacular dinners in the villa. From prep, to cooking, to full clean up, Mark's service was impressive. The meal was delicious and plentiful. What a treat to have Mark and his staff prepare meals in the villa with absolutely not a worry from our end. We thoroughly enjoyed his meals and conversation. Mark and his staff made lobster BBQ, Jamaican jerk chicken, steaks, and ribs. Not to mention the plethora of sides, all of which were indigenous to the region. It was farm to table in the villa! The Calabash Beach is a short stroll down the hill and offers a beautiful crescent beach with food and drink service. Be advised that this beach is very strict about keeping it peaceful and quiet. We did enjoy using the hotel's amenities and kayaked as well as played tennis. The walk from the hotel to the villa will keep you in shape for the week! We also explored the entire island via rental of driver/van and took advantage of seeking out the many villages that most travelers neglect to visit. Well worth the trip to any of the water falls which requires a strenuous, muddy climb through "jungle". The rum punches throughout the island were delicious and well deserved after a day of adventures. Consider renting a sailboat for the day with a captain to seek out black sand beaches, snorkeling, and a sunset sail. There are a handful of operations to choose from via google. All are safe and comparatively same price. The Red Crab is walking distance from the villa and offers a great menu with local preparations and delicious local lobster (reasonably priced). Also try Andy's in L'Ance Aux Epines, which is a tiny restaurant whose owner, Ingrid, was very friendly and cooked up local cuisine at it's finest! Can't say enough great things about this well stocked villa. Thank you Zach S, Mark B, Ester, and especially Patricia for making our stay unforgettable!
An amazing villa with fantastic facilities ranging from a fully equipped office to friendly/happy maids. We were a small group of friends/family from ages 25 to 75 who all had different needs but the same gaol to enjoy the villa and Grenada which we did in style. The villa is located within the grounds of the Calabash hotel (currently number 1 on trip advisor) which creates an ideal situation, all the facilities of the hotel including the private beach yet the space and informality of a villa. Plus the amazing staff who run and maintain the villa.
We entertained guests at the villa who are either residents or own holiday properties on Grenada and they all agree its location layout and facilities were fantastic.
All the bedrooms with en-suites are cool and spacious with plenty of storage. The kitchen is large with plenty of areas for preparing food; so that the group could share the cooking (the cooker was even similar to mine at home!). The living areas are open plan, including a TV room which was rarely used except to watch the 6 nations rugby.
The pool was maintained 4 days a week and did suffer a little from leaves in the pool but this was due to the flowering shrubs (visited by humming birds) and lovely cooling breeze/wind, just would have liked the pool man daily. The area around the pool was stylish with plenty of places/furniture to dine, sip cool drinks or just lounge. All of which we did plenty of.
This is our 3rd year to Grenada; it is a fantastic island, great people, not overrun by tourism (although the cruise boats have increased) with its own identity and plenty to do.
Sounds too good, there must be something wrong, well yes there was no garlic crusher!!!!
