The little village of Asteri is situated in the heart of Crete, in one of the most beautiful picturesque places and in one of the largest olive groves in the Mediterranean, only 14km from the city of Rethymno. It overlooks the Aegean Sea (only 5 minutes by car) to the north and Psiloritis Mountain to the north east.
Rethymno is Crete’s third city in size. It lies between the cities of Chania and Iraklion. The Venetian and the Turkish occupation of the island had a major influence on the architectural style of the town. Wandering through the narrow, picturesque streets of the old town the visitors admire the Venetian mansions with interior courtyards and beautiful home entrances, the wooden Ottoman balconies, the minarets and smell flowers or homemade fresh food. The best place to see the old town is the Fortress of Fortezza which is located at the highest point of the city waiting to protect the local residents from the pirates just like the old days.
The location of the villas is ideal for those who want to explore Crete. The access to the main tourist attractions is easy and fast.
