Exquisite relaxing retreat.
Gibbs Glade really ticked the full set of boxes for us. It is a Ronseal listing in that it achieves everything it claims on the can ! We had high hopes before we arrived and we certainly were not disappointed when we got there; the WOW factor when we walked in was enormous, brand new, spacious, tastefully decorated, and beautifully presented we were blown away with our little piece of paradise.
The owners, Toby and Karen had put an enormous amount of thought and care into the building and their efforts to ensure we had a perfect stay continued throughout the holiday.Their customer service was unassuming, understated but ensured a trouble free, relaxing experience. Everything about the studio was sparkling, the décor, the pool, the garden, the environment, the proximity to a secluded beach all created a very restful atmosphere. We took a couple of days to master the indoor/outdoor cooking facilities but we soon became proficient at producing bajan standards on the 40 gallon Barbie which gave us a great deal of satisfaction. The property is secluded but only a couple of minutes walk from a bus route that will take you anywhere on the island for a couple of dollars, just over the road is a beach which at 800 yds wide never had more than 6 people on it, our own piece of paradise.Restaurants of all shades and prices from upmarket to rum shop fish fries abound, we preferred the local bajan attractions, local food cooked local style.
We are already circulating our family to get a party together to return to this property and develop our experience of Barbados. We would recommend Gibbs Glade unreservedly, we could not imagine anyone not having a fantastic time here.
NEIGHBOURHOOD OVERVIEW The two closest beaches to Gibbs Glade Cottage & Garden Studios are only a short stroll away... Gibbs Beach - a beautiful and peaceful beach, lined with glorious private villas. Mullins Beach - a busier and more lively beach with a bar and restaurant, where various water sports are available. Gibbs Beach is an easy short walk, through Gibbs Glade itself, along a path to the main coast road, diagonally opposite which is a path to the beach. Soft, warm, white sandy beaches await you all around Barbados with a coastline to suit every taste. The Platinum Coast, on the west, has a glorious silvery shoreline lapped by calm Caribbean waves. Snorkeling in the clear turquoise waters is a great way to see the hawksbill turtles and explore the shoals of tropical fish inhabiting the coral reef. On the East Coast, the dramatic Atlantic Ocean crashes over wild rugged rocks, wonderful to watch and ideal for surfing. The long rolling waves of the South Coast are perfect for body boarding. Set about half way between Speightstown (local and quiet) and Holetown (busier and more vibrant). Both have many bars, restaurants, shops and supermarket, both are right on the west coast. GETTING AROUND Hire cars are always a great and flexible way to see all that Barbados has to offer, especially if you have children. However, if you simply like to chill by the sea, then buses are a less expensive option, running up and down the coast road every few minutes. Taxi's are only a telephone call away for those special nights out!
