******** NEWS FLASH **********

Call Trey Benton. 256-566-1342, before booking through VRBO. . NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC names JOCASSEE GORGES #9 in '50 of the WORLD'S LAST GREAT PLACES', Destinations of a Lifetime November 2012 issue.

The water level will be 10 to 25 feet down from full pool, which means absolutely nothing to a mountain lake that is 310 feet deep! You want the lake to be down at least 15 feet because it exposes hundreds of beautiful secluded beaches! The only complaint we ever had in 9 years was the summer the water level was at full pool and there were no beaches to park a boat and explore. We don't hang out at the dock, we explore new beaches every day! 50 yards out from my dock is 60 feet deep. The dock is always in at least 10 feet of water.

You'll love Lake Jocassee's crystal clear mountain water and secluded sandy beaches. Enjoy the Southeast's best kept secret! Stay in one of only seven homes that rents to the public on the 75 mile shoreline that has a total of 45 homes. Wilderness abounds as only 2 miles of shoreline is developed!!

This house has the feel of a Montana mountain retreat. Just steps away, your private dock with ladder and boat tie up is in a secluded cove where you can enjoy swimming and boating in the crystal clear water. The kids will love the 4 kayaks and one canoe. ! Do you want to water-ski in the middle of the day on the weekend? No problem, no boat traffic!! You can't do that at Lake Burton or Lake Lanier! Adventurous? Park your boat at the head of one of five major trout streams, and enjoy a cool afternoon of rock hopping and trout fishing. Feeling lazy?

Park your boat at one of nine waterfalls which feed directly into the lake and nap with the soothing hum of falling water where the temperature is 10 degrees cooler than the main body of water. Love to hike? Trailheads are on the lake and two miles from the house. After a fun filled day on the water, come back to your home where you can swing in the hammock and admire the sunset as you BBQ on your 50 foot x 16 foot deck overlooking the cove and dock. Free trailer storage in a locked fenced compound 3 miles from the boat ramp at Blue Ridge Boat Storage, 160 Jocassee Lake Road, Salem, SC

Call Trey Benton to preview the cabin before renting. 256-566-1342. I live 35 minutes from the cabin.

Awesome cabin for families and groups!

  • 5 of 5

Wow, we had an amazing time. We had a bunch of toddlers and the cabin with the location was perfect. There was a little dirt beach area that gently sloped into the water- a rarity with mountain lakes! Our kids had a blast. The water was clear and the view beautiful. The rooms were spacious and the beds super comfy. We loved the windows and open space upstairs. Also, we were glad the TV was located downstairs and away from the kitchen and great room. This hid the distraction from the kids and we were able to spend more quality family time together. Also, our host Trey was seriously the nicest guy. Very accommodating and made sure our stay was perfect.

We would definitely rent this place again!

Beautiful!

The house is beautiful along with the views of the lake and the mountains. We found everything we needed in the fully-equipped kitchen and loved having the kayaks to use whenever we wanted. Great place to vacation!

Wonderful place to start the new year with family!

  • 4 of 5

Love it! We had 8 adults and 5 children under the age of 7. The cabin was homey and not too many decorations laying around so we didn't have to worry about the children breaking things that needed to be replaced. Phew!!! The kitchen was fully stocked, with plenty of seating for family dinners. Each family had a bedroom to put their things and close their door for privacy, if needed. Loved the open floor living area and the view was very nice. We had the fireplace burning the whole time with just enough of fire wood. Most of all, we loved the privacy of this lot, the closeness to the dock and especially "all" the kayaks. The whole family participated in this exercise. FUNNY and full of Laughter! We had plenty of life jackets, too.

The only thing I'd change would be the walkway to the dock. It came high off the bank of the lake then it turned side ways making it difficult to walk to the dock. We actually slipped off a couple of times. One day the children couldn't walk on it because it was too steep. Fortunately, it rained most of this day so we didn't have to worry about it. Since it was winter and the end of the year I'm sure Trey will do a deep cleaning inside and outside around the cabin getting ready for the summer time!!. Thank you Trey for sharing your dream (Trey's dream). We definitely staying again this summer!

PS. Having no TV or internet and little cell service, didn't bother us at all.

Private secluded and peaceful

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this wonderful cabin with another family. We have four children under the age of 6 and there was a ton to do! There are trails all around the house with gorgeous views. We spent hours relaxing on the dock. It happened to be a beautiful weekend in February and we were able to take the kayaks out. The house is hidden and very private. We really enjoyed how secluded it was as our kids can be quite noisy :). It was very clean and there was plenty of space for privacy. We really enjoyed cooking in the giant open kitchen. It had everything we needed. The owner, Trey, answerd all of our questions immediately. I'd recommend this beautiful mountain/lake home to anyone!
