Enjoy the best of waterfront/poolside living while you explore Annapolis and DC
About Cindy Shay
We (Cindy and Dave) have lived at the property for 17 years. Cindy grew up in the area and still has a lot of family here. Dave is a native of West Virginia and is a retired Naval officer. Being a native of the area, Cindy knows many of the best kept secrets for touring, etc. - and loves to share them with guests!
Cindy Shay purchased this House in 1999
Why Cindy Shay chose Crownsville
Cindy grew up waterskiing and crabbing on the rivers of the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Her goal was always to own waterfront, but also wanted a large yard. After looking extensively, they found this property, which used to be part of a large farm that encompassed all of Kyle Point. We fell in love with the peace and quiet of Fox Creek. With almost 3 acres of land, we also had plenty of room for a pool and big yard for the kids (and adults) to play. We designed and built the house in 2000 and have loved living here. We love to share our home with others and watch them enjoying themselves in our home as much as we do!

Overall a good property and an enjoyable stay. A few concerns- the refrigerator was emptied but not clean, the dishwasher was not empty, we paid 200.00 extra for two days to use the pool but with check- in at 5 on Friday and check-out at 10 AM on Sunday we really only had one day with the pool which never heated to 80 as we were told. Nevertheless the place was comfortable and very pleasant.
Regarding the pool, we have to start heating it the day of check-in for it to heat properly, which is the reason the propane charge was for both days. We are very confused about the concern regarding the pool temperature, as it registered 81 degrees at check-in on Friday, and 84 the day of check-out, and the guests never informed us of any problems during their stay. We always leave guests with our contact information and encourage them to call with any problems or concerns. Sometimes slight adjustments need to be made to the heat settings of the pool depending on weather, etc., but we can't fix a problem if we don't know it exists!
Regarding the fridge and dishwasher, these were not up to our standards. The guests arrived prior to their scheduled check-in time and in our efforts to rush to accommodate them, these two items were unfortunately overlooked.
We had a great time with our family at this property! The house fit us comfortably and we were able to enjoy the backyard everyday!
Our favorite part was the pool and the water activities! We would recommend our stay to anyone who is looking for a nice vacation home for their family!
Perfect Family Summertime Vacation
I'm always wary of reviews that go on and on about how wonderful a home is. So I'll state that this one doesn't have a moat with a drawbridge over alligators. But other than that it has everything! The pool is amazing and kept our boys (ages 12 and 9) occupied all week, and that was when they weren't down diving off the dock and swimming over to the **water trampoline** (seriously? that's a thing? where was this when I was a kid???) to bounce off of into the water.
Want to ride bikes with the family? They've got that. Want to hang out downstairs with the xbox and your boys while the rest of the family wonders where you are? Yep, that's a possibility as well! We cooked most of our meals, but did venture out a few nights to recommended restaurants and of course, they were amazing as well!
If you're considering bringing the family together and want everything taken care of before you get there, you truly can't go wrong here.
We loved the inlet and all the available amenities. The kids and adults loved the beautiful pool as well. Very relaxing and great place to eat and hang out!
What a truly beautiful spot we found. The house and grounds were perfect for our group of 12. The best part was the location. Several in our group had never been to this area and we were easily able to visit Annapolis, Baltimore, Washington, and a quaint town just over the Chesapeake Bay bridge! Would definitely recommend this property!
What a great find!
Our 15 member family, comprising of 3 generations which included 8 adults and 7 children, just returned from celebrating my husband's 70th birthday. The entire experience was all that we had hoped for and more.
Our daily trips to Annapolis, Washington DC and the Baltimore aquarium were all great experiences, but the highlight of the trip turned out to be the property itself and all it had to offer.
We had wonderful weather. The pool was the center of our daily activities, including brunches and lunches. The slide, the waterfalls, the basketball hoop and hot tub all added to the fun. The games provided in the basement were a terrific source of entertainment.
The afternoon spent at the river was amazing. Life jackets were supplied by Cindy. Adults and children were out in the kayaks, paddle boards and a paddle boat. There was a trampoline beyond the dock which proved to be great fun. The grandchildren stood in front of their parents on the paddle boards. Children swam alongside the watchful eyed adults in kayaks. Everyone worked their way down to the Chesapeake Bay and back.
The 8 adults took turns shopping and preparing meals. Everyone helped out, adding to the fun. Appetizers were served at the kitchen table as everyone did their part to prepare the meal.
After their dinner, the grandchildren watched a movie downstairs with bowls of popcorn, again, supplied by Cindy When the movie ended, they all went off to bed, both happy and exhausted from our full days of activities.
While the children watched the movie, the adults gathered in the dining room for good food and wine.
What a great way to end our summer.
Thank you Cindy.
