The Turbine House once housed all the turbines that were used for producing electricity for the Dales. There are still some pulleys on show in the sitting room today.

This house has been refurbished in 2013 and now has a new fitted kitchen and bathroom.

The entrance to Turbine House takes you straight into the light and airy kitchen. The kitchen is spacious, fully equipped, with everything thought of for your stay. There is plenty of work surface and storage space for your personal items. It has a dining table with seating for 3 people.

To the left of the kitchen is the sitting room. It is a cosy space to unwind in the comfortable seating in front of the newly fitted log burning stove. **The log burner is out of action until 8th December 2017. Sorry for any inconvenience.** There is a freesat TV with built in DVD player and radio.

From the sitting room, the stairs lead to the two bedrooms. Immediately up the stairs there is the house bathroom which serves both bedrooms. It has a luxury corner bath with a shower over. The double bedroom offers ample storage space and views towards the garden and Arkle Beck. The single bedroom has beautiful views up to Fremington Edge. All bedding and towels are provided.

The garden is adjacent to the carpark and the Arkle Beck.

“The Wash House” is around the corner, where you will find all things needed for you to keep up with your laundry, if you so wish while you are away!

There are 2 other cottages that can be let at the same time for a larger group. All cottages are next to each other. These are Greystones and Charlie's stable. Advertised on this website.

Turbine House, 2 Bedroom Cottage in Reeth, Swaledale. Dog friendly
average rating of 4.25 based on 4 reviews

great cottage, great location

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was cosy and well equipped. We especially liked the location - close to the river, close to the centre of the village, walks from the front door. Parking was easy, there was somewhere to exercise the dog morning and evening and it suited the three of us (and the dog) very well. Reeth has everything needed day to day as well as being very attractive.

A comfortable and cosy cottage in a lovely location.

  • 4 of 5

We booked this quite last minute to have a few days of fresh air and walking. The cottage has lovely walks straight from the door, we bought a useful map from the tourist information office that is located in Reeth.

The cottage was warm and welcoming on our arrival, it was spotlessly clean and well equipped. I have not given it 5 stars because the property information did not give us the correct wifi passwords and we were unable to use the woodburner because it smoked. Using the wifi at the tourist info office we were able to contact the owners who were very prompt in responding and sorting out the password. Sadly the chimney sweep was busy so the woodburner remained out of action. Having said that, the cottage was warm and we were very comfortable. The main bedroom was spacious and if I could suggest an improvement it would be to replace the double bed with a King-sized. Having said all this we would definitely try to book this cottage again next time we head this way.

Owner's Response: Thanks Deborah for leaving this review. We have got plans for refurbishing Turbine House, which will include a Super-King bed! It'll be finished in March next year. A new log burner is being installed on the 8th December too - turns out it was a bit more serious than just having it swept so thank you for alerting us to the problem. We have only recently got WiFi into the property, gradually we are getting there with the cottage, its all new for us you see. Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. We hope to welcome you back to our new improved Turbine House next year, and hear your thoughts on our improvements. Kind regards, Rose
