About Lizette Coney
Lizette and her husband Craig bought Le Guichard in June 2013, after having owned a successful holiday rental property in Devon, they were looking to continue in the holiday lettings business, but in a warmer climate. They now live here permanently with their 3 horses and 2 terriers. We fell in love with the peacefulness and tranquility of it's surroundings and the beautiful countryside. We were also looking for a property that would not only provide our guests with a high standard of accommodation, but could also offer plenty of local activities and Le Guichard has it all.
Lizette Coney purchased this House in 2013
Why Lizette Coney chose Grand-Brassac
On first visiting this area of France we immediately fell in love with it. It's location makes it very accessible from the UK & many parts of Europe. The area is a wonderful mix of rolling hills, winding rivers & extensive countryside views. It is a great spot to explore the many varied historic & cultural sites including a range of caves, chateaux, vineyards & pretty villages. Our property is in the countryside which provides a haven of tranquility ideal for relaxation & yet is close to many towns such as Brantome and Riberac with it's shops, cafes, bars & restaurants including the famous Friday market. The area offers a mix of outdoor pursuits and quiet lazy days wondering through historic picture postcard villages. This is a great holiday destination for either families or couples.
What makes this House unique
In this area of the Dordogne there is an abundance of outdoor pursuits and plenty of tracks leading straight from the property, for cycling, walking and horse riding or fishing in the local rivers. Nearby golf courses and many local markets and festivals. Or take a canoe trip down the river or meander around the colourful markets or the pretty villages. There is also the nearby leisure lake at La Jameye with a man made beach. Our holiday homes are detached properties sitting in their own private gardens and of course there is the pool, with all pool furniture provided for our guests comfort and enjoyment. There is also our own Zip Wire ride ( see photos ) built in our own woods for the kids to enjoy.

Lovely Place to be
Great spot to enjoy the beautiful countryside and weather
Wonderful property, kind owners, great stay
My family and I stayed a week at Lizette's house as part of a two-month tour of Europe. My kids keep asking to go back and begin each new leg of the journey with "Well, it's not Lizette's, but otherwise it okay". The pool (during a 104 degree F heatwave) was a welcome respite. The zipline and woods were a hit with the kiddos. The bikes, fooseball, and ping-pong, were also fun. The house was immaculate and a beautiful place to stay. Great proximity to some charming French towns and activities like caves, kayaking and markets. Lizette (and her sweet dogs/cats) could not have been kinder or more welcoming. We were sick for most of the days there, and there was a several-day heatwave, and we still had an amazing time. If you don't have fun here, you are doing it wrong! In short, the place was perfect.
Thank you Emma for your kind words and fantastic review. So glad you had a great time even though you were not too well, and we hope you come back again very soon with more members of your family

Beautiful Gite in a fabulously beautiful location - perfect for families and cyclists!
Our family spent the week here in early April and we were blessed with sunny and dry weather. If you want splendid isolation and family friendly accommodation then this is perfect. You WILL need a car or transport to get to the nearest towns but that’s the attraction. Lizette was a charming host and very friendly. She was exceptionally friendly and helped us settle in. The area is EXCEPTIONAL if you enjoy walking/trekking or cycling. I am a passionate road cyclist and managed to cover over 500kms in the week - in the most beautiful countryside and cycling through historic villages. The roads are virtually empty! Our only negative point is in relation to the WiFi/Internet connection - you simply cannot get connected in the main house and have to exit the property and sit near to the owners front door. So, if it’s raining or cold and you want to be connected to the world then good luck! If it’s sunny and dry then you can sit outside and it’s not a problem. The facilities available for the family are great - there are bikes available, trampoline, swimming pool (amazing position), zip line in the summer, table football, etc. So overall a really lovely time. Get out and explore.
Thankyou Annabel and Lee for your lovely comments. We are glad you enjoyed your time with us and took advantage of the peaceful tranquility. Hope to have you back soon
We had another wonderfully relaxing holiday staying in Les Oisons. The house is spacious and comfortable and has everything you need including a good size swimming pool which is kept very clean. It is set in a beautiful area surrounded by countryside with walks from the door. Cafe/shop two minute drive away. Only twenty minutes to Riberac and thirty to Brantom which both have wonderful markets. Thanks to Lizette for looking after us and booking the vets for us again! I'm sure we will be back.
Fantastic family holiday in a beautiful property
We stayed here for a fortnight back in July / August and we truly couldn't fault the place.
Lizette and Craig (not forgetting Jacko) were great hosts, always on hand to offer help and advice on everything from a weekend doctor for a poorly toddler to great places to eat and markets to visit. They were also on hand as needed to contact local businesses to make bookings or find out information.
The property itself is superb, well laid out, clean and spacious. The facilities available on the site really were brilliant, so much to keep the children (and adults) entertained, the pool was warm and clean and there were plenty of loungers for those lazy days chilling out in the glorious sunshine. The immediate surroundings made for some great exploring opportunities, good hills to run and cycle and the stars at night are a real treat and a must see.
It's a good walk (or very short car ride) to the nearest shop which is the only downside but there were plenty of bikes available to use to collect the croissants and fresh bread in the morning :-)
There are lots of leaflets and information available in the house and Lizette has lots of recommendations. We'd certainly suggest a visit to Lisle, Brantome, Grand Etang de la Jamaye and Saint Aulaye (a beautifully decorated village, with riverside beach and high rope activities).
We were a group of 9, ranging in age from toddlers to grandparents and there was something for us all. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend a stay here and may well be back to experience the 2 bed house next time.
Thanks again guys for a lovely holiday - the Walker, Smith, Graham clans xx
Thanks Natalie for your lovely review . We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us and we do our best to make sure everyone's holiday is the best it can be . We very much hope to see you back here again very soon

We had a really lovely stay at Lizette's gite. The children loved the outside space, the pool ( heated in October so they swam every day!), the horses, dogs and cat! Our gite was perfect for our family of 7, and local shops could be reached by car in about 10 minutes. It was a good location for exploring the Dordogne, Limousin and Charente. The only negative was the poor Wifi connection which we could only get in one of the bedrooms, but it was quite temperamental. Other than this no complaints and I would recommend a visit if you need a relaxing and peaceful break.
