Why Bobby chose Los Cuarteros
the apartment is a 5 minute walk to the high street and 7/10 minute walk to the beach. The beach is blue flagged beach with soft golden sand. The Mar Menor is -in spite of its name- Europe's biggest salt water lagoon, and it is separated from the Mediterranean Sea by La Manga, a strip of land which is 22km long. This natural setting has an idyllic microclimate and perfect conditions to enjoy nautical sports. Moreover, here you will find a very particular combination of fishing traditions and modernity, impossible to find anywhere else.
What makes this Apartment unique
we are very close to the mud baths of mar manor. If you suffer from bone and joint pains, you should definitely go to the muds of Las Salinas in Lo Pagán and try the well-known 'Mar Menor muds'. Due to sedimentation, on the sand and at the bottom of this small sea there are some muds with a great power of absorption, mineralising action and healing effect. They are very appropriate for skin treatments and in cases of rheumatism, arthritis, gout and rehabilitation after bone fracture. They are also used as an anti-inflammatory. Different thalassotherapy centres at Mar Menor use these muds in their therapeutical and beauty treatments.

Location San Pedro del Pinatar is a small town in the province of Murcia and situated between the Mar Menor, a saltwater lake which is the largest in Europe and on the other side on the Mediterranean Sea. Murcia is located at a distance of 46 kilometres and the distance to Cartagena is 35 kilometres. The airport of San Javier is only ten kilometers away. The population of San Pedro is currently around 25,000 and the area of the whole area is 22 kilometers. Salt was extracted here since Roman times. There are no less than eight kilometers of beach in this area, but the main attraction is Lo Pagan. Lo Pagan If one thinks of the Mar Menor then the most famous place is still La Manga. But Lo Pagan is also going to take an increasingly important place. And this is not surprising. Here you see people in the lake who rub themselves with medicinal mud. Mud baths The first time this is a bit strange but on closer inspection this mud appears to work very medicinal. The mud contains calcium, fluoride and magnesium, sulphate and chlorine. The high salt content of the lake contains a lot of iodine and it is therefore mainly people with rheumatic complaints and arthritis who visit these baths. For the rehabilitation of fractures the mud would also work medicinal. Skin conditions are significantly reduced by the mud, so they say. The people first rub with mud on the sensitive spots or sometimes completely and then let this mud dry in the sun to a hard crust. Then they will rinse in the salt water. Especially the Spaniards who love cosiness here combine the useful with the pleasant and when one walks in the morning over the pier one sees several couples and family members who rub each other and let themselves dry while enjoying a drink and / or a snack. The long pier invites you to take a nice walk and you can also rent bikes to cycle all the way to the end of the pier. The mud baths are completely free. The water of the Mar Menor is always a few degrees warmer than that of the Mediterranean, so you can practice water sports here late in the season. The Mar Menor Because of the warm, clear water and the shallow depth of the salt lake, water sports are possible here in all its forms. Canoeing, water skiing, swimming, snorkeling and pedal boating. In the summer there are nice boat trips to various places and islands in the area. On the boulevard it is possible to make a "Segway" tour. San Pedro del Pinatar The town of San Pedro del Pinatar has a beautiful harbor and here you can see the fish auction in the morning. Until recently, people lived from fishing and salt. Today the tourist industry has become the main source of income. There is an archaeological museum and the Museum of the Sea. La Casa del reloj is the former residence of the former politician Emilio Castelar y Ripoll and now a restaurant is located in this house. The weekly market takes place on Monday and is a cozy meeting point. The city has various bars, restaurants and a casino. Especially in the months of July and August it is very busy here, because many people in this area have a second home and spend their holidays here. In recent years, more and more hotels are coming here that are mainly focused on thalassotherapy. This city also has a large indoor swimming pool. National Park of Salinas Y Arenales In this protected nature area which is about 2250 acres, hiking trails and cycle paths have been laid out, as well as beautifully landscaped lookouts where you can admire the flamingos. Flamingos The flamingos gather here at the end of the summer to make the trek to Africa before the winter is approaching. There is a research center that one can visit and where one can obtain good information in various languages. Here in this nature park you can see a lot of water birds with a bit of luck such as pluvier, sea swallow and rainworm. The area consists of dunes, pine trees and very clear water. Here, too, access is free. The park is located at the beginning of San Pedro del Pinatar but is not very well marked. Getting around Center with shops and beach at 1 km from the house, easily accessible on foot. Bus service from the center on the Alicante-Murcia-Cartagena line. Availability of a rental car is nice if you want to explore the area and cities.
