Glen Mor, is in the Raven Wing of the Highland Club, Fort Augustus.

Guests have full use of Highland Club leisure facilities, except the pool which is currently closed. No timetable has been set yet for re-opening the pool.

Wifi now available in the apartment.

You will be greeted on arrival and shown the Highland Club facilities by my property manager who is available during your stay to provide advice and assistance as needed.

This apartment was rated as 4 star by Visit Scotland in 2010.

Accommodation comprises an open plan living room with kitchen and separate bedroom. The bedroom sleeps 2 people on king size double bed. There is an option to sleep extra 2 people on fold down double sofa bed in lounge. Please note it is a good sofa bed but inevitably, it is not as comfortable as a regular bed.

The flat is second floor accessed by stairs so unsuitable for wheelchairs.

The open plan lounge kitchen diner has a carpeted lounge area and a kitchen/dining area with solid oak floor with full height patio doors opening to a Juliet balcony with a great view of the Glen Mor hills above. Seating is 3 seater sofa and leather bucket chair. LCD TV & Blu-ray player with access to Netflix and BBCI-player. Kitchen: fully equipped, with 4 ring gas hob, oven, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, electric kettle and toaster, solid oak dining table + 4 chairs. Bathroom: has a bath, with overhead shower, wash hand basin and heated towel radiator. The flat is 490 Sq.ft. with gas central heating, pressurised hot water system & double glazing.

Close to all local amenities, 500m to canal, locks, restaurants & hotels. On site restaurant called The Boathouse with views to the North up Loch Ness.

Situated in 20 acres of grounds which includes both Loch Ness and Caledonian Canal frontage. Excellent shared facilities provided by Highland Club, including outdoor barbecue & picnic areas on the loch shore. Outdoor tennis court, children’s play area and cricket pitch which is used by local team during cricket season.

The Abbey was completed in 1880 and used as Benedictine monastery then as a school run by the monks till 1993. The buildings retain most of their original features.

Glen Mor apartment is situated in the Raven Wing, a later addition to the site that was used as the school chemistry building, which looks onto the Abbey Moat House.

Ideal touring centre, with many of Scotland's most beautiful attractions within one hour drive including Eilan Donan Castle, Isle of Skye, Uruqhart Castle, Cairngorm National Park, Ben Nevis, Aonach Mor ski & mountain bike area.

Alternatively, as the property is within easy walking distance of the village, no car is needed whilst staying. There is an extensive local path network including the Great Glen Way to be explored, or just wander down to have a drink by the canal while watching the boats negotiating the series of locks which form the centre point of the village.

On arrival you shall normally be greeted by our management company representative and be shown the apartment.

Why not Book Now, the availability calendar is kept up to date - I will normally confirm your booking within 24 hours.

About David Grindlay

I am a retired civil engineer, married with 2 boys. I stay in Dumbarton in the Central Belt of Scotland.

David Grindlay purchased this apartment in 2009

Why David Grindlay chose Inverness, Loch Ness & Nairn

Love the location, great touring centre, close to the pubs and bars of Fort Augustus. I love to sit by the Caledonian Canal with a drink and watch the boats pass down the through the lock staircase in the centre of town (about 5 minutes walk from the apartment).

Loads of nice walks or bike rides available locally and slightly further afield, such as the beautiful Glen Affric.

What makes this apartment unique

Wonderful renovated abbey with all mod cons in a beautiful location.

4 star rated (by Visit Scotland 2010) luxury self catering apartment condo on the banks of Loch Ness. The apartment is located within the historic St Benedicts Abbey (now called The Highland Club) which has been sympathetically upgraded to modern standards but retaining most original features. The Highland Club is sited in 20 acres of private grounds with many on-site amenities including outdoor barbecue areas and the Boathouse Restaurant. Visit the local restaurants, bars and hotels which are only a five minute walk away.

Note The pool is closed till further notice.

Watch cricket on the pitch across from the apartment (summer only) or have a game of tennis on the private court, all within the Abbey grounds. Have a drink by the canal, while watching the boats pass through the 5 locks and swing bridge in the heart of town. Cruise on Loch Ness from the pier just outside the Abbey grounds. Maybe you will see the Monster. Explore the extensive local path network or visit nearby historic Urquhart Castle.

Visit at Aonach Mor ski and bike area (27miles South), take the gondola to the summit for fantastic views over Fort William and Loch Linnhe. Try the cross country and downhill mountain bike trails as used by the UCI World Championship.

Go dolphin watching - boats leave from Inverness (55mins North by car) to go dolphin watching on the Moray Firth, probably the most reliable place to spot dolphins in Scotland.

Located in the Heart of the Highlands, the apartment is less than hours drive to Eilan Donan Castle, Isle of Skye, Cairngorm National Park and many other popular destinations.

Lovely apartment great setting in the perfect location

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay in June 2017. The apartment is great it has everything we needed with a really good shower and super comfortable bed that we struggled to get out of in the morning. I would recommend it anyone and book it again myself when I go back to Scotland.

Comfortable, well appointed and well maintained.

  • 5 of 5

The flat was very comfortable, contained everything that we needed during our twelve day stay and, being part of The Highland Club, allowed us access to all of its facilities such as the heated indoor pool and sauna. Fort Augustus proved to be an ideal base from which we were able to make day trips to many parts of The Highlands.

Fantastic place.

  • 5 of 5

This is a super apartment. The abbey is a wonderful peaceful atmospheric place to stay. Loved the pool in the chapel, the pool room, table tennis, outdoor chess. It felt a bit like being at Hogwarts. Would recommend this apartment and would happily stay there again.

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

This place is perfect! Perfectly appointed, perfectly located, and perfectly like home away from home~ The Bed is very comfortable and the flat has everything we needed. The central location couldn't have been any better. We used it as our base camp to visit Inverness, Isle of Skye, and Fort William. The downtown is the perfect size for an evening stroll and the Moorings (other side of the canal) had the freshest fried fish n chip. The Abbey grounds are very picturesque on Loch Ness and well cared for. Can't go wrong with this gem and can't wait to go back and stay here again! Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. P.S. The wine and shortbread was a lovely touch.
