Whilst staying in Margate, I can't recommend enough visiting the stunning, sandy beaches of which there are 14 and include Broadstairs, Botany Bay, Joss Bay, Walpole Bay to just name a few. The Kent coastline is beautiful and can be explored by car, bus or rail. Fancy cycling? There is also a scenic cycle route – the Viking Coastal Trail. Inside the manual, you'll find info on which beaches allow dogs, which beaches have lifeguards/cafes and restaurants.

About Archie

I've worked for myself since I was 20, first hair braiding on the streets in Oxford, where I was at Uni and then I ran market stalls in Camden, Portobello. I simply sold everything I owned in the world when I was 22, got on a plane on my own and flew to India to set up a company. £1,000 to set up a business and £600 to live off!. I ended up manufacturing fashion accessories (bindis) for fashion retailers like Miss Selfridge & Top Shop, then brought out the first henna kit after Madonna did her video frozen.

I was then a henna tattoo artist and had a big team of guys and girls who I trained up as artists and we'd do 80 festivals a year! When I was 8 1/2 months pregnant with my son and still henna tattooing..... I knew my work had to change! Thanks to the entertainers I'd met through being a corporate henna artist working at parties, I next set up a small entertainment agency, which over the next twelve years grew into a large international corporate and Talent booking agency, London-based office, giving work to over 6,000 artists a year! I sold the company in September 2016 to be able to spend more time with my son, working as many hours as I did whilst being a single Mum simply wasn't sustainable.

Today I have a holiday let business with properties right by the sandy beaches of Margate, Kent. UK. I have a quirky home in trendy Trinity Square right by the Winter Gardens with sea views as well as a stunning apartment in Sea View Terrace with undoubtedly Margate's finest designer garden courtyard. I'm currently sourcing my third holiday home in Margate. I also own a peaceful apartment on the beach in Dahab, Egypt and a luxury five bedroom home in leafy Hertfordshire.

Archie purchased this apartment in 2017

Why Archie chose Margate

I've lived for many years in London and then moved to Hertfordshire a year ago. When I sold my company in September 2016 I was looking for a place to buy where I could move to after my son finishes his A'Levels.

Margate kept coming up in conversation, time and time again, so I came down and fell in love with the place. I can't wait to completely relocate to Margate!

As Margate is on the west coast, we have the most stunning sunsets in our road, as we are even further west than Cliftonville.

The location is very peaceful and quiet as we are one of the end properties on a Terrace and no cars can drive past the home.

Margate is great, if you come by car, you park and then can walk everywhere. It's only 1 hour 40 mins to Broadstairs down the Coastal Trail, which I highly recommend! We are only 3 minutes walk to Margate train station if coming by train, we really are in the best road in Margate!

Parking is free and off-street

Really close to Dreamlands!

Short stroll via the promenade to Old Town.

If you are a kite surfer one of the best kite surfing beaches is right on our doorstep!

What more can I say, come and visit and experience for yourself!

Wonderful apartment

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay.

The apartment was perfect, had everything we needed and Archie was very helpful and friendly.

Would definitely book again.

Stones throw from the beach, and the beautiful old town and the beach all walkable. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Great flat in central location

  • 5 of 5

The Artist's Residency is a great flat, beautifully decorated in a good location close to all the action in Margate. The flat was very clean, with lovely bathrooms and good heating (which we needed, unfortunately!). We stayed for three nights with our son who loved the decor and the good wi-fi. The area is 'real', not touristy and within walking distance to the old town, beaches and Dreamland etc. Archie made us very welcome and gave us some good local info on our arrival. Would stay again if visiting Margate, thanks Archie!
