Villa MURGIANO is quite close to Florence - just 8 km/20 minutes on good if fairly narrow roads. A car is recommended, for your convenience. The rental comes with a wide car-park & shaded roofing for three cars. Guests have remote controls to drive through the electric gates.
As you get through the gated property you enter a dream world; your home is invitingly down through the olive grove at the end of the drive. It is a charming, fully refurbished 15 century Villa, set in its 75 acre Farm, with 360° inspiring views on pristine hills, woods, vineyards & olive-groves.
A few ancient houses here and there; one major historic building standing on the hill opposite: a formerly Medici Villa, which the Corsini family have owned since 1641 - in its vast, decorated, reception rooms private events are occasionally held.
Villa MURGIANO’s Guests have access to their in-house information folder. In addition they are welcome to text or phone Katia - the owner, about any additional queries.
Katia lives mostly on site - down a separate drive leading to her own shaded car-park and door.
Villa MURGIANO's farm estate produces Wine, Extra-virgin Oive Oil, Aromatic Vinegar and Honey - you can pick them up on arrival, order more for local consumption and have some shipped home.
BBQ fossil coal and wood for the hearth and the Pizza oven are also available on site (your bill is settled prior to departure).
Day-to-day shopping is under 4 km from Rental. This includes ATMs, Italian & international groceries, fresh fruit & vegetables street markets, pharmacy, restaurants, supermarkets. Recommended for location & facilities are COOP at Ponte a Ema (SR222 near Grassina), and ESSELUNGA (SP70 near Galluzzo) which are under 6 km from the Villa.
Villa MURGIANO sleeps up to 10 Adults, overall 12 Guests in 5 bedrooms, of which 4 ensuite, and a 6th bedroom in the Tower, with a Queen-size bed and a split-level loft; 5 full bathrooms; 2 studies, 2 indoor lounging/dining rooms, 2 kitchens, a covered, all-season Portico with a dinner table for 12 and ancient Pizza oven, 2 lounging Patios with 3 furnished gazebos, a BBQ shaded Patio with table & chairs, a lounging Terrace with table and chairs and a private, large (12 mt long by 6 mt wide) infinity edge swimming-pool.
All the bedrooms are air-conditioned and have electric ceiling fans. There is a good number of mosquito netted windows, and a generous provision of electric mosquito devices. There are shutters at every window to screen the daylight and control temperatures: traditionally, to keep the Summer heat out and retain the Winter heat in.
Villa MURGIANO is built in stone & brick, with a Terracotta tiled roof. It is harmonious like a cube & tower of alluring proportions.
There are 2 awnings, screening the sun rays on the South and West façades respectively.
There is a half enclosed, all Season Portico for lounging and dining, with charming arches and an ancient Pizza Oven.
Indoors most walls are plastered white, some walls come in stone or brick facing. There are ancient terra-cotta bricks upstairs in the kitchen hearth.
All the ceilings are beamed, starting from the 15 century Tower.
Down from the Tower is the Villa's upper floor, Palagio: 2 Master bedrooms en suite and a twin bedroom with a large, adjoining bathroom which it shares with the Tower. The Canopied West Master Bedroom features a child's crib with wood bars (bedding provided). From the canopy you can hang a mosquito net enclosing the bed, if you wish. The East Master Bedroom also has a hook for a traditional mosquito net, a clothes closet and the towels supply.
A central study, a long & attractive, air conditioned loggia with lots of light from its ample windows and an adjustable awning along its front: casual lounging furniture, a cards table, an elegant, rectangular dinner table for 8 and beautiful engravings.
An ample Winter Kitchen, with two rectangular tables - ideal for your cooking classes; both tables can be shifted sideways to make room for lounging & sipping your glass of wine by the hearth.
Down a charming flight of 11 ancient steps from the Winter Kitchen is the cloakroom for golf clubs and other sports gear, next to the main ground floor entrance to the Villa.
Tugged away in the cloakroom is some BBQ gear as well as the electric dryer - a machine easily dispensed with under the Tuscan Sky: 9 times out of 10 you will probably hang up your washing on the outdoor washing lines (pegs provided).
Down 2 more steps is the Villa's ground floor, i.e., Salabetta - " 2 double bedrooms en suite, a family lounging room, with its elegant oval dinner table, and the well appointed Summer kitchen.
An adjoining spare room, one step down from the dinner area, has the shelves displaying the Estate Wines, Extra-virgin Olive Oils, Honeys and aromatic Vinegar for sale; a fridge, a washing machine, the laundry sink, 2 clothe-horses and an iron & ironing board.
Salabetta features a Twin bedroom en suite, whose French door on the West front has a wheelchair slide; an Angel Master bedroom en suite, with tits golden-leaf Angel hung on a rare large span brick arch; a study between the two bedrooms, with French doors onto the wide Terrace.
Both bedrooms and study can be accessed in a wheel chair from the grounds. So can all the outdoor lounging Patios and the Terrace.
One caveat - wheel chair users please note - Salabetta’s family lounging room with elegant dinner table is one step up from the bedrooms/study /pare room, and one step down from the Portico, and level with the West entrance French door.
There are double French doors linking Salabetta’s living room and Summer Kitchen to the Portico, with its large dinner table seating 12 in comfort. Meals can be had in the Portico at all times of the year, with a natural priority for Winter lunch-time and Summer dinner-time.
The Pizza Oven comes in handy throughout the year.
Villa MURGIANO's infinity edge private swimming-pool is the cherry on the cream, the crowning glory of your stay at Villa MURGIANO -whether you meely look at it from the upper floor windows or the ground floor terrace, lounge in the pool precints, or enjoy your swim; it lies a short distance from the Villa, it is large, immaculate, inviting, totally private. Its overflow/infinity edge lets you enjoy the landscape from the water, as you refresh yourself or swim.
A warm shower stand is at hand. Pool Towels are offered in a basket by the Pool.
The pool is open from late March/early April to mid September/early October. It comes with 2 gated entrances: Guests are kindly requested to close these at all times, whenever they go in and out, as well as to allow no unattended children in.
Adjoining the Pool is the children's playground and swings.
The ancient Pizza Oven is a great attraction: you start your wood fire a good hour before meal time, at which point, having laid out your favourite ingredients on the table and variously decorated your raw pizzas, you carefully place them one by one alongside the ambers for baking. There are further secrets involved... but isn't discovering about them one of your aims on your visit?!
Mediterranean cuisine and Italian cuisine in particular are beautiful... If ever you would like a few dishes prepared for you to taste at the end of a long day, book with
"Katia's Takeaway": it is a text and 24 hours away: select your menu on the eve and the following evening, at the appointed time, you collect your orders and enjoy your meal in total relax, at one or another of your in/outdoor dinner tables.

About Caterina Corsini
My Italian-born father and Russian-born mother were pretty much explorers at heart. So it came that I am African born, in Ethiopia. Then we travelled further South and eventually settled in Maputo, African Portuguese East Africa (Lourenço Marques, as it was called at the time). Having completed my secondary education in Johannesburg and Pretoria, South Africa, I travelled to Europe and, eventually, settled in Italy, where I currently spend most of the year. My inherited sense of exploration inspired a life full of interests, including flying tourism planes. Professionally I became a Conference Interpreter, freelancing around the world. In recent years, as the mother of two and grand-mother of 6, I have added to my main hobby, i.e., music, attending to my Tuscan Farm Estate. This has called for renovating Villa MURGIANO, which my ancestors purchased as part of a larger estate back in 1641. Combining my lifelong travelling experience with hosting Visitors of different cultures from all over the world is my current challenge, and enjoyment. I simply love meeting people
Why Caterina Corsini chose Impruneta
Impruneta, the nearby village (3.5 km from Rental) has absolutely all the facilities. And Villa MURGIANO is set in a unique location: a hill wide open to the sun and the winds, which reduces the humidity levels in the air and limits the perception of heat in the Summer months. Villa MURGIANO's climate is generally cooler than in the City of Florence. I particularly like the privacy of Villa MURGIANO - as it is now called, after the original name of the Corsini Palace which you admire across the valley. Villa MURGIANO, like not many other properties, exhudes the charm of the Tuscan five-century-long tradition of an Owner.managed Estate.. The southern Florentine Hills in general, andVilla Murgiano's hills in particular, are to me the epitome of peacefulness, serenity, inspiration.
What makes this Villa unique
Villa MURGIANO is your Charming Paradise by Florence. Holiday makers become enthralled in the unique atmosphere of both Villa and grounds. It has the natural beauty of a Renaissance Master's painting (photographs hardly do it justice). You breathe in positive energy. You enjoy beauty never tampered with. You are at the receiving end of a centuries-long human experience. Villa MURGIANO is ideally suited to restore your energies on arrival, and the perfect base for setting out to explore the Wonders of Italy. Villa MURGIANO is your home in Tuscany, well deserving a one/two week long stay at a time. According to most visitors, Villa MURGIANO is a truly unforgettable experience.

Beautiful setting in Tuscany.
Lovely place to stay to enjoy the beautiful area of Tuscany. Fantastic food and wine area to enjoy. The villa is out in the country so a car is required to get around.
Dreamy villa and property
This property is even more spectacular and beautiful than the photos! The house is very large and easily accommodated our family of 8, it actually has 2 kitchens, dining areas and lounges plus multiple bedrooms and baths, 2 being on the ground floor which was important due to me being in a cast and not able to do stairs. There are several outdoor sitting areas which are great for giving people places to spread out, or all gather. The pool is beautiful and an inviting place to survey the neighboring villas, vineyards and rolling hills in the distance.
The villa is well maintained and the kitchens have everything and then some!
The property is close enough to Florence to go in for museums but charmingly situated in the country and is private and quiet.
The owner Katia lives on the property and be sure to ask her to make you some of her delicious soup! She also helped us arrange for a chef to come make us a delicious Italian dinner one night!
We loved our visit and hated to leave.
Loved everything about the Villa including the outdoor spaces especially the large table where all of us (11 family members) could enjoy meals and wine together. Katia was a gracious hostess and we loved the dinner she prepared. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Would definitely return and have been recommending it to my friends. Can't wait to return.
fabulous retreat for La Famiglia!
The most welcoming hostess!
Katia took care to run through the whole Villa and outside with us upon arrival.
Close enough to Florence (18 min) by car, and driveable to Laspezia, Sienna, Lucca, and Pisa, for a day trip. The grounds and the view are extraordinary surrounded by herbs, olive groves and vineyards. The villa itself has enough room for a large family/Group. It also has an inventory of honey, olive oil, vinegar and wines all produced by the Katia's farm and available for purchase.....FANTASTIC. Our family made memories that will last a lifetime.
Nearby COOP and restaurants make this a true Tuscan Dream
If you are not familiar with italian standards for waste disposal and energy consumption you may find some of the rules an issue. We did not even in the hottest of summers on record.
**Caveat, the property manager prefers to contact by private email which leaves you unprotected by VRBO. Cleaning, damage fee and local taxes are not included in the cost and not stated in the quote** this is the only reason I did not give this property FIVE STARS.
Amazing Tuscan Villa
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Murgiano. The pictures do not do it justice. It is truly a slice of heaven. Katia is a wonderful and welcoming hostess, the villa is as cozy and comfortable as it is impressive. We enjoyed the views, the sunsets and the pool, as an added bonus, the wines are divine! We only wish we could have stayed longer.
Bucket List Item, Checked Off
We have a group of 6 to 8 friends who have done international travel for years. On our bucket list of things to do was rent a place in Tuscany for a month (okay, we're dreamers!) and use it as a base to do lots of day trips. Countess Corsini's Villa in Impruneta way exceeded our expectations and dreams. Large enough for a big group (there were 8 of us this year), with plenty of space for everyone to have time alone if they wanted. The setting was out of a picture of the Tuscan hillside - grapevines and olive trees surrounded us. Stunning views in each direction. Topping off the experience was the gracious owner of the property - Catia to all of us. Helpful and informative - just a text away to assist with tour questions, recommend local restaurants, or to manage getting us reservations at popular restaurants in Florence on a busy Saturday night.
Would do this rental again in a heart beat!!!
Villa MURGIANO is very close to Florence, so that you can spend mornings exploring the City's museums and churches, then take a break for lunch at one of many trattorias. On your return enjoy life at the Villa, both indoors & outdoors, or lounge by the large, immaculate, infinity edge, private Swimming Pool. If you prefer not to drive on any of the narrow Italian lanes, your options are walking to Mezzomonte (900 mt) to catch the public service bus into Florence (via Pozzolatico: www.capautolinee.it orari/impruneta); booking your private car with driver (ask owner), or riding in city cabs. A car is recommended. Hiring two or three medium size vehicles for a group is probably the best option: Villa MURGIANO has a wide car-park, with shaded roofing for three cars. and you will enjoy increased flexibility, to make the best out of your short holiday, and explore as many places as you like. Greve, in the heart of Chianti (20 km from rental), has wine tasting sites and a pedestrian piazza with restaurants. Panzano (8 km further south), has a castle with nearby Il Vescovino Restaurant and a special Tuscan Steak House (www.dariocecchini.com). Badia di Passignano (20 km from rental) is an interesting Abbey with Cantinetta di Passignano - delicious fresh fish cuisine in the Tuscan countryside, etc etc - (www.chianti.com itineraries). Villa MRGIANO's estate produces its own Chianti, IGT Red & White wines, aromatic and natural vinegars, and its uniquely special cold pressed olive oil - marketed in 1 Lt, 1/2 Lt, 1/4 Lt cans or larger packs. Does it sound appealing? So does a Tuscan/Mediterranean meal prepared on site with local ingredients and sipping estate wines - a truly mouthwatering experience. One recommended option is booking (ask owner) a Chef who comes to the Villa and prepares a 5 meal course for you - you may even consider choose to have one on arrival day: tasting the menu of your choice in one of the outdoor lounging areas, enjoying attractive views over the Tuscan countryside. The Chef's help will lay the table for you in one or another of the outdoor seating areas, to best suit your liking
