The name of the B & B comes from the dialectal term with which the place is identified, rich of cerro trees ("ciarrote"). Pure woods of this kind of oak (cerrete) are found throughout the Eastern Apennines and probably the name of the country is also derived from this plant (quercus cerrus), characterized by the domes of curly-like acorns with long filaments up to 1 cm.
The cerro is the tree of fairy tales. Among its fronds and roots lie gnomes, goblins, fairies, fantastic animals, as well as saints, witches, giants, monsters, who move in the circles, within the sacred mountain spaces.
The village of Cerchiara is located within the Gran Sasso National Park - Monti della Laga, about 700 mt. On the sea level, at the foot of the magnificent Parnon of Great Horn. Ancient roman statio militaris, destined to watch the Via Ceciliana, which climbed the Vado Pass at Corno and carried it to Rome, was also an important center on the road that went from the mountains to the Tavoliere delle Puglie, as evidenced by the remains of the church Of Valentine's Day.
