About Marie and Stuart
We are Stuart and Marie. Stuart was born in Brockenhurst (4 miles from Lymington) and we have lived all of our married life in Brockenhurst village. We have two adult children, both married. One lives in California and the other in West Sussex. We are very fortunate to have 4 grandchildren.
Marie and Stuart purchased this House in 2018
Why Marie and Stuart chose Lymington
We had always talked about buying a 2nd home that we could run as a holiday let, and when Marie took early retirement that opportunity came along. We were lucky enough to find The Snug and spent almost a year renovating and refurbishing the house. We like to think that we have turned it into a cosy holiday home from home that our guests will enjoy.
What makes this House unique
We chose Lymington because we know the town well. Stuart went to school there and spent many years working in and around the area. We think Lymington is a very special place offering a huge diversity of things to do, and we are very fond of it. The area surrounding Lymington offers the best of both worlds; the beautiful coast and The New Forest all very close and easily accessible by car or public transport. We hope you find The Snug is a welcoming home from home and the Town of Lymington a joy to explore.

Wonderful Little Cottage
Just such a pretty, very comfortable place to stay. Marie is a lovely host providing everything you could possibly need. The house is oozing charm and there is nothing missing. Little things, like extension leads to enable you to plug your hairdryer in and stand in front of a mirror, a very well kitted out kitchen and such a pretty little courtyard garden with flowers and herbs to enjoy, while sipping a glass of Rosé. There is not much more to say other than we highly recommend a stay in The Snug.
This is a lovely place.
Very easy website to use. The description and photos of the property were very inviting and exactly represented how lovely the cottage is.
Cosy base to explore lymington and beyond
Well furnished and good location, worked well for 3 of us - have given 5 stars despite boiler not working first few days as it was resolved promptly (over a bank hol) and was clearly out of owner's control.
Outside space good for a morning coffee. Loads of places to eat, Thai restaurant on high street very good, museum and gallery well worth a visit. Leisure centre 10-15 walk away and small wood nearby for short walk.
Amazing stay and amazing host!!!
We had a fabulous stay at the snug, from the moment we booked until the moment we left we loved it! Marie is a fabulous host, even leaving a few goodies for us when we arrived. I would recommend this beautiful property to anyone wanting to visit the Mew Forest and stay close by. Thank your Marie!!!!!
Can’t recommend it enough
Fantastic place to stay in Lymington. Marie gave us an early check in and left bread, milk and other essentials for us to use. The beds were very comfortable with good quality sheets. The towels were fluffy and the bath was a great place to relax. The house is very well equipped with everything you would need. Highly recommend!!
Thank you for taking time to review The Snug. We have worked hard to make our holiday home stand out from the crowd and we think providing good quality bedding and towels help make a holiday rental just a little more special. Come visit us again soon.
A super little cottage centrally located in Lymington
The appropriately named “The Snug” was very conveniently located for all amenities within Lymington and just a few minutes stroll to the high street and on to the waterfront. It also very well placed for exploring further afield. It was probably one of the best equipped holiday cottages we have stayed in, we had a lovely welcome pack, with an extra bonus of some Easter Treats, and the quirky decorative touches around the house had been supplemented with some Easter themed ones! The back garden was perfect for a coffee - a proper little sun trap - thankfully the weather was good enough for us to take advantage of that! We had a lovely stay and my only regret was that we didn’t book it for the full week!
Thank you for your very kind review. We think The Snug is in a great location and as you say, within easy walking distance of the High Street and Marina. Not only that, there is the wonderful coast and New Forest National Park right on the “door step”. Come back soon!
