Welcome to "Villa Cloclo"!
Nothing to do with the 60s-70s music star Claude Francois but just the nickname given to my mother who designed (with my father) and had this house built a bit more than 40 years ago and a tribute to her vision of what a villa in Provence should be.
The house has a rustic charm and is about light, sun, space and nature.
All the 4 bed rooms are south oriented on the garden or vineyards. The master bedroom has a 15 sqm solarium terrace which looks down on the olive grove, another one has a nice balcony.
The living room is big enough (with double height ceiling) and opens on a large south facing terrace with local stone. A great place to stay under the mulberry tree (welcomed during summer time) or not, and enjoy the view of the olive trees and the swimming pool.
There are around 100 olives trees on this 1 ha property. You won't see much of the few neighbouring villas, as you are surrounded by a small forest, a vineyard and the olives trees.
There is nice and comfortable kitchen, with lots of light, which can accommodate 4 diners around its round table, if need be, with a cellar for all amenities. The living room has a table for 8 people.
The swimming pool is large, 12*6m, with min 1.3m-max 1.7m depth, a very enjoyable space to swim and enjoy with friends. Surrounded by olive trees. Just below the main terrace. It has a sand filtration system which will allow you to open your eyes under water without getting them red! It has an electric shutter, so you should close it at night (2mns) or when necessary. The swimming pool can be lighted at night (with changing colours).
It is a family house, so it has all amenities you would expect: a dish washer for 14 dishes, a washing machine, a microwave, a Smeg owen, gas appliances with 5 burners, a gas barbecue, a Nespresso machine, a toaster. But we also leave what is required to operate: salt, pepper, olive oil, coffee, tea, tablets for the dishwasher, toilet paper, stud for the shower...I believe that your first priority when on holidays should not be to go and buy these kind of things. I just expect that you would replenish when needed. Not just for you but for the next occupants.
The living room also has a chimney which works for cold winter evenings If you stay during that time, we will explain how to make it work (and what not to do!). There is 50 inch LCD TV. No wifi included with location though (as no provider could go over 512k/s, yes 512k! I guess it is countryside. You will have to rely on your contract).
Finally there is a large garage which includes a table tennis table (can go out most of the time), and a vintage table football, 2 hammocks, and several floatees for the swimming pool.
Again as in a family house, there are lots of personal books (mostly in French) which are there to be read (if you feel like, but please to be put back after reading) and some personal stuff (from childhood, comic books...). You won't find an empty house but I trust that you will leave it as it is at the end of your stay. It is not an Elle Deco house, but a real one, with some wear and tear (painting may be peeling on some doors, here and there). The shower room is very convenient, the bathroom has blue tiles (original from the 70s, which have resisted well age!).
The house is one thing but you are here to discover Provence and there is so much to be seen within an hour from The villa.
First Carpentras (my home town) with its Friday market which invades the whole city and its beautiful pedestrian center.
Then, the list is long: Avignon and Orange (20mns), Mont Ventoux (20mns), Isle sur sorgues and la fontaine du Vaucluse (20mns), the Dentelles de Montmirail (25mns) and the Gigondas/Vacqueyras vineyards, vaison la romaine (30mns), Senanque Abbey (35mns), Gordes (45mns), pont du Gard (40mns), Nimes (50mns). An hour for Marseille and Cassis (subject to no traffic jam), Roussillon in Luberon (1h). Marseille and Nimes airports are 1h away.
Other amazing Places? Venasque (10mns), Mormoiron's forest, Le Barroux castle, Beaumes de Venise, Seguret, les Gorges du are so many nice places you will want to come back here!
