About Linda and Keith Scowcroft
Chinley Moor House has been part of our family for a long time. Linda was born and grew up here, and we bought the house from Linda's parents after the birth of our first son, to bring up our own family in. Our two sons are now grown up and, since our retirement, we've turned our attention to making our home pay its way! We live here with our dog, Danny, and enjoy regular visits from our young grandson.
Linda and Keith Scowcroft purchased this Apartment in 1950

As good as it gets!
This lovely little studio was perfect for the 5 day break I took in April. It was warm and cozy, just what I needed for me and my dog.
Alfred and Linda were really welcoming, with lots of treats for me and dog as well as milk, bread, cereal etc and even some dog biscuits! After initially showing me around, and giving me some information about the area, I was left alone for the week although both were next door when I needed to ask a quick question.
The studio has excellent internet connectivity, a TV/ DVD system, a good oven / cooker / fridge / microwave which meant that I could easily prepare meals quickly and without fuss. This was important given that it rained pretty much every day and it was easier to cook at home after a day of walking than it would have been to shower, change and walk to (one of the numerous) dog-friendly pubs in the area. The bed is very comfortable, the sofa is perfect for lounging on and the shower is excellent.
Parking is easy, there are lots of easy-to-access public footpaths and most of all, it is dog friendly!
All in all, I'm very happy with my stay and would recommend it to anyone wanting a break in the High Peaks!
Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a comprehensive and positive review about our studio and the local area.
It was a real pleasure to have you and your wonderful dog to stay and we are glad you had a good time despite the rain.
Your review made my day!
Hope to see you again some time in the future.
Perfect location, well equipped and cosy cottage for a getaway!
Linda and Keith were very welcoming and helpful. The cottage is well equipped and a great location to spend time back with nature. If you don’t want to step foot in the car there is no need to here. The cottage is lovely and warm and meals cook amazingly quick in the gas oven! There are plenty of places to eat around although we cooked and prepared all our meals in the cottage.
I am certain this won’t be the last time we see Linda and Keith!
Thank you so much for posting such a positive review for our studio and we are delighted you both enjoyed your stay in the Peak District.
We hope to see you again

Lovely little studio in good location for the Peak District
This small studio apartment is certainly big enough for two adults and a large dog that we had with us. In excellent condition with fantastic vies from the window across fields towards Hayfield. The owners could not be nicer and certainly go the extra to make sure everything is provided. Upon arrival we were met with milk and butter in the fridge, A selection of cereals, bread together with a small bottle of wine and a bottle of beer and of course a bowl of treats for the dog. There were loads of other small useful items (too many to list) provided as well as a large selection of toiletries in the bathroom. The shower was probably one of the best I nhave had in rented property and certainly provided a good supply of hot water. There is plenty of parking at the front of the property and the small enclosed garden is more than adequate for a dog with a very large field some 20 meters away which is fully fenced and secure for the dog to run around in. There are so many walks direct from the property it is possible to stay there for a few days and not actually use the car. Hayfield is a small village with a good supply of small shops and plenty of pubs most of which allow dogs and have good beer and food at a reasonable price. Overall, a great studio ideally suited for walkers with or without a dog and fantastic hosts who certainly ensure that the stay is relaxing. Would certainly stay there again.
Lovely well equipped studio
Clean, well equipped, nice and cosy with lots of lovely touches .Thank you
Thank you so much for your positive review.
We are glad you enjoyed your stay.
Fantastic stay, lovely, well designed apartment.
This was the first time we have had a holiday with just the two of us for a very long time (kids now grown up etc) and the first time we have stayed in a studio apartment. We had an excellent time from beginning to end. Linda (the owner) made us feel very welcome and the apartment was very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed including some extra goodies that we appreciated. It was roomy enough that we did not get under each other's feet and well equipped for preparing meals etc. The location was perfect for us too - a footpath runs past the cottage straight on to Kinder Scout. (We did the circular walk past Kinder reservoir, up William Clough, past Kinder downfall and kinder Low then back to the cottage via Coldwell Clough). It is also only a 15 minute drive to Castleton where we visited two of the show caves. We hope it will not be too long before we can find the time to book this apartment again!
Thank you so much for this great review for our studio. We really appreciate you taking the time to write so much detail which I know will be very helpful for future
guests who are considering staying with us and visiting the Peak District.
We hope to see you again
We're situated close to the picturesque village of Hayfield with its cosy pubs, winding streets and scenic views - and with plenty of potential for walking, fell running, mountain biking, horse riding and rock climbing in the rolling hills and beautiful countryside right on our doorstep, we're in the perfect spot for outdoor enthusiasts.
The larger towns of Manchester and Sheffield are within easy reach, so you won't run out of things to see and do, even on rainy days.
If you're looking for beautiful scenery, historic homes, or delicious afternoon teas, nearby Lyme Park, Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Castleton, or Edale are ideal day trips, as is the lovely spa town of Buxton.
