About Lisa Swindells

We bought the Old Slate miners Cottage in July 2015.

We have always loved this part of Wales so decided to buy a property which we could use as a base to explore the area and return as often as possible.

We take great delight in sharing our cottage with guests so others can enjoy this beautiful part of unexplored North Wales.

My partner is a roofer and I’m a dog walker and we are from Warrington in Cheshire.

We hope you love it as much as we do!

We love and adore our 1854 slate miner’s cottage for its original features and charm.

It’s pretty, sweet and comfy, with a cosy relaxed atmosphere.

It has the river to the front and mountain and steam train to the back.

Within walking distance to the town.

Great base to explore wonderful North Wales!

What makes this cottage unique

River to the front of the cottage and mountains at the back, mountain stream to the side. With the steam train passing to the back of the cottage. Totally stunning sweet cottage.

Lovely cottage in a great location

  • 5 of 5

We used the cottage as our base to explore NW Wales. Lovely cosy cottage in a lovely village but close enough to main roads to get about. It was warm, clean and has all you are likely to need. We really enjoyed our 4 nights here and loved N Wales.

Lovely cottage, very tastefully furnished

  • 4 of 5

Enjoyed our stay, the cottage was small but beautifully furnished with everything you would need. Good base for exploring different areas, but did not like the pubs in the village.

Enjoyed our stay

  • 3 of 5

We stayed here for four days for my daughters first birthday and made many great memories. The location of the cottage was a positive as it is pretty much central within Snowdonia so equal distance for going to the coast, mount Snowdon, Harlech castle, fairy glen etc. The cottage itself was cosy downstairs and had everything you can need for a break. Very good to have a fully operational kitchen with all cooking utensils etc, its these small things I find that really count!

The only improvement with the cottage I would say (and this is my personal opinion) is for the bedroom spaces to be cleared of everything that resembles personal belongings as it did feel a little cluttered/as though we were staying as guests at an elderly persons house. If this was all stripped back/removed and kept neutral with some new bedding it would change the feel of the upstairs completely and resemble more as a holiday home rather than staying in someone elses home.

The price of the cottage was reasonable and I would recommend to others to stay here, we had a great time in Snowdonia and this was a great base for us.

The various information that was provided by Lisa (the owner) with recommended places to go was fantastic and she was easily contactable and responded with any queries pretty much immediately.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your feedback As you know you were my first ever guest and when you booked I didn’t even have interior pictures. I have taken your comments on board and have now replaced all bedding and removed any personnel belongings. I hope you will return in the near future.
