Have the Irish vacation you've always dreamed of!
Curlew Cottage sits high on a hill beside the Wild Atlantic Way and just a short, pleasant stroll from a beautiful, secluded beach and the world famous Tralee Golf Club designed by Arnold Palmer. The house is surrounded by farmland, and from our windows and garden you can enjoy beautiful, panoramic sea and mountain views, watch the cattle grazing, and enjoy spectacular ocean sunsets. Tralee, Dingle, Killarney and Listowel, and the Ring of Kerry are all within easy reach by car, and the villages of Fenit and Ardfert - with pubs, restaurants, shops, beaches and playgrounds, and located on the Wild Atlantic Way - are just a few minutes away.
Our house is spacious and contemporary, yet cozy, and is furnished to a high standard. The large garden is completely walled and gated, making it safe for children and dogs, and the ground-floor accommodation makes everything easily accessible for elderly or physically disabled guests. With flexible sleeping accommodation, open fire and turf stove, stunning views and a great location, our house is perfect for a family holiday or a romantic getaway!

We (Carol and Enda Carty) purchased newly-built Curlew Cottage in 2006 as a home-from-home for our young family; now, with our children older, we have decided to share our special hideaway with discerning guests who appreciate the country life and the wild beauty of North Kerry. As dog owners, we particularly appreciate the difficulty of finding high-quality accommodation that accepts pets, so we make a point of welcoming well-behaved dogs and their responsible owners.
We love our second home and hope you'll fall in love with it and the surrounding area as much as we have.
Carol Carty purchased this bungalow in 2006
What do we love about North Kerry? Where do we start!?
We love the music, the pubs, the chat and the 'craic'. We love the fresh air and fresh food, the local markets and the craft fairs. We love it that we can hide away in the country but be in town in a matter of minutes.
We love our 'secret' beach! Tucked away behind the nearby golf course - which you can see from the house - this mile-long sandy stretch is known only to locals and guests - on a crowded day you might find 25 people there. The water is clean, the beachcombing is good, and the view is stunning. We walk and swim there year-round - and if you have a dog be sure and bring a ball!
We love the country life, and with the house surrounded by farmland and sea there is always something to watch or listen for. One frosty morning we heard the curlews calling in the estuary - hence the name of our house. And on a clear night you'll have an almost limitless view of the night sky with the Milky Way painting a bold streak across the constellations.
To help our guests enjoy the same special qualities of the area that we do, we have compiled a list of interesting and useful addresses, phone numbers, drives and activities, which you'll find in a notebook in the kitchen. But the best thing to do is what we always do - explore, and make your own magic in the Kingdom of Kerry.
- As dog owners we appreciate how hard it is to find a high- quality vacation home that is pet-friendly and secure, so we especially welcome responsible dog owners. And for those without dogs, rest assured that the house is cleaned to the highest standard after each group!
- Our secure walled and gated garden is also superb for families with young children.
- Tralee Golf Club and a beautiful beach are just a short walk from the house.
- The sea, mountain and sky views from our house are spectacular!
We really had a great time in Ireland and enjoyed your cottage so much. It was one of the best holiday houses we ever had, and it was well equipped with all needs. Our daughter and we all regretted so much that we had to leave after our holiday week.

We stayed a week down in Kerry but wish we had stayed longer. Curlew Cottage provided a perfect base for trekking around the area. It was clean, comfortable and very well stocked with unclipped crockery, plenty of cutlery (and SHARP knives!) and linen. The views across from the kitchen are spectacular. And the golf course is beautiful. Kids loved the beach and the adults loved the morning jogs through the golf course and along the beach, up through farms and back 'home'.
The cottage is close enough to Tralee and to everything that you might need but it feels a hundred miles away from anything. At night it is very quiet and we loved hearing the local rooster in the mornings!
Helicopters brought a few golfers in and that was exciting - the kids loved watching the helicopter land practically in the back yard!
Carol, the owner of Curlew Cottage couldn't have been more helpful. She recommended places to eat (Spa Seafood a must!) and routes to explore Kerry by car.
We really couldn't fault the place! Definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to get away!
Loved everything about the house and location. Had 5 dogs and 2 parents with me and not a cross word between us! Would go back again.
We are a couple from the US. We stayed in Curlew Cottage in for four nights in September 2016. The cottage is in excellent condition. We especially enjoyed the views, the dining conservatory, the kitchen wood burning stove and the fireplace. It took us awhile to find the cottage but once we found it, we were glad we did.
Our family spent a week in Tralee and I could've just spent the time enjoying the views from the house, it is very scenic and pleasant to stay there. Carol is a very responsive owner of the property and there was plenty of information provided about the home and things to do in the local area. There was plenty of space for my family of 6 and the living room was very relaxing. The kids enjoyed the foozball (football) game. The grounds outside the house are well maintained and we availed of the BBQ one evening. We had a nice meal in Kate Browne's pub in Ardfert and it was a good location for touring the Ring of Kerry and driving around the Dingle Peninsula.
We had a 4 night stay at Curlew Cottage. We were very pleased with every aspect of our stay. The owner of the home was great. She communicated well before our trip, and when we needed some last minute directions, she answered the phone and really helped us out! The home was in excellent condition. Very clean, very well maintained. The binder of instructions and information that was left for us was very helpful. We arrived at night, so we were in for surprise the next morning when we saw the views. WOW! The area is VERY safe, the home has an alarm and a gate. It is just a few houses down from the Tralee Golf Club. The lot and backyard are good sized, allowing ample room for kids to play. The home is very spacious and allowed our family to spread out a little after some very cramped hotel rooms earlier in our trip. All in all a great experience. I highly recommend Curlew Cottage.
the property was very large, beautifully equipped and a home from home. We stayed in some evening as it was so welcoming and relaxing. Spotlessly clean, light and airy with beautiful views front and back.
The only negative for me was that the pillows had seen better days and were uncomfortable, but then I do have a back problem.
Owner had done a superb job of giving a book of instructions for the cottage and also a huge amount of tourist information which was very useful indeed.
It was a perfect base for visiting Kerry and was so very peaceful and quiet. The golf course at the end of the road was super and we used the flags as an indicator of the days weather. So much local history and places to eat out. Just perfect.
I will certainly be going back as it is one of the nicest holidays I have had. Well done Carol Carty!!!!!
