About Darren Lock
I was born in Middlesex England and have spent most of my working life in an around London. I arrived in Buenos Aires early 2006 for the first time on a sabbatical from my work as a healthcare entrepreneur. The sabbatical became extended and I decided to reorganise my life so I could spend at least a few months here every year.
Darren Lock purchased this House in 2008
Why Darren Lock chose Buenos Aires Central Business District
I love old properties although have always lived in very contemporary spaces until i bought this house. The house was very unusual in that it was largely untouched ; unlike many of the old houses it was not divided up into a multi-tenanted space but had been used as a billiard house, tango school and storage depot. Most of the internal surfaces are untouched. Very slowly over the years, it's been upgraded to make it more comfortable whilst trying to respect its original look and feel.
What makes this House unique
The house was built for Nicanor Ezeiza in 1912. His twin brother built a twin house next door. For those that love old houses and want to experience something different, this is for you. You will get the comforts while enjoying this unique space with its triple height ceilings and original mouldings. You can also relax in your own spa facilities at ground level. The house is also located in the Casco Historico so you will have easy access to the cultural highlights as well as the uber modern Puerto Madero.

We spent Thanksgiving week with our family at this incredible home. There were 8 of us and we had plenty of space. All of us enjoyed the steam, sauna, pool, and having our own bathroom. I worked with Aranzazu in advance to coordinate massages in the massage room at the home, home cooked breakfast, and a couple of dinners. She was so helpful with suggesting restaurants and tours for us. Our breakfast and dinners were done by Martin, who made fresh squeezed juices, and eggs for us every morning, along with preparing wine paired dinners for us two of the nights. I would highly recommend this home! Thank you all for making our trip so memorable!
Gorgeous home, perfect for our group of 9
From the time Eugene met us at the front door to the time we said goodbye, we had the best time in this lovely home. We were a group of two families with 5 teenagers. There was plenty of space for everyone. There were times when we couldn’t even find each other! Out of the 5 bedrooms only one doesn’t have its own bathroom but there is one close by. The showers were great....good water pressure and we didn’t seem to ever run out of hot water. There are LOTS of stairs but there is also an elevator. It did stop working one day but a call to Eugene and it was fixed right away. We loved the details of this house....you truly felt like you’d been transported back in time....Except for the air conditioning, Wi-Fi, TVs, and great sound system! We stayed 5 nights and wish it could have been longer. We would stay here again and again. One regret was not taking advantage of an in home chef....we just kept finding restaurants we wanted to try! Overall, we can’t imagine a better place to experience Buenos Aires from....lots of restaurants, bars, grocery stores within walking distance. And the San Telmo market was very close as well. If you choose this home, you will not be disappointed!
An absolutely stunning place
This is a very thoroughly restored mansion unlike most anything I've encountered in may travels. It's modernized where it matters...great air conditioning, automatic lighting and modernized kitchens. Otherwise the four floors are totally authentic, right down to the small details, and well stocked with amenities (many of which are historic and add to its character) that makes for a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. We spent a week here and were totally happy we found this home. In addition to the structure itself, the owner and his staff were very friendly and their top-notch service added to the excellence of our vacation experience. I would highly recommend this home, especially for a larger family or group vacation.
Unforgettable dreaming stay at Buenos Aires.

What an amazing holiday!
A truely incredible, breathtakingly beautiful home.... As soon as I entered the imposing lobby I felt I had been transported back to the turn of the century. Darren has painstakingly resorted this house to it's original splendour in every room. His attention to details is truely unique and staying at this stunning property you will get a real vibe for the city, as well being treated to all the modern comforts you could wish for. The terraces are a perfect place to unwind after a day in the city, the elegant dinning room is perfect for that unique, special occasion and the ensuite bedrooms all have large sumptuous beds made with the very best of linen. This home encapsulates the city and a splendour of yester year. Darren's handpicked chef and masseuse are wonderful and a great accompliment. I would return in a heart beat.
